50m cable?
id say with that distance even with an aplifier its at least part of the problem
so in reality it's just a short half a meter cable
Yeah i kinda know
It kinda works but, I already have the cable but the damn signal, I can barely play games stable
o_o
yeah even with good internet and small distance wifi can sometimes decide it hates you
Wifi can be also sometimes really bitchy if the weather outside is worse
i remember playing warthunder with like insane internet and the router was about 6 ft above my pc and i got 78% packet loss
(which is sometimes my problem) but it behaves in 95% of the time
wow that's worse
I play warthunder too but I don't have that problems
I do not have lags at all actually. Unless the router is overladen by the devices using it
it was just a one time thing
I've switched to a fiber network so no interference is ever present
im pretty sure my current internet still uses copper for quite a ways until it reaches the gigabit section
my country is switching it's darn old cables too slow
They are so old like literally the first cables ever laid here
my cables were supposed to be switched to fiber like 5 years ago
well I only use copper for the wifi access point and the digital TV box
i have no choice cuz its my isp
the rest p much uses fiber directly
my isp who has gigabit internet for the city im 5 miles outside of
but as much fun having a lot of bandwidth is
I had to use a couple of year ago 30 mbps ADSL cuz the damn appartment block didn't want optical fiber to be installed
I still restrict the gaming rig and the wifi access point to 200Mbits each
they don't need more
You don't really need more imo, 200 Mbits it's decent to stream or gaming
I think you don't need more than 20 Mbits of Upload Speed to be able to stream at 1080p 60
im fine with my 100Mbits if it was more reliable
50k was 5mbits right?
50 kb?
50.000
I only know the german abbr. for that >_<
About 6.25 MB/s
the 50k >-<
Here in Spain max we have it's about 650 Mbits simetrical optical fiber
Meanwhile in Romania
not entirely sure about the highest here in the us but if i drive down the road about 12 miles and give my entier lifes savings i can get gigabit
50mbits is average here in germany or maybe even below average now
acutally im not enitirely sure if its public or just businesses
i have had gigabit for a few years now
but my router is holding me back
i'm planning to upgrade next year tho.
gigabit isn't easy to upgrade to
but for the average house with 2 parents 2 children a 100Mbits line is plenty
Gigabit is like $50 a month for me tho, doesn't make sense not to get it.
I'm already content with 100 Mbit despite being a mod-enthusiast with games
Gigabyte is rather excessive from my point of view
Only $50?
Is this in the US?

Besides, although I can achieve 200+mb/s to local servers through my router, when connecting to overseas servers, I get maybe get ~40mb/s thru steam for example.
Nope, Singapore
My god, that's cheap
Gigabit btw, not byte.
Autocorrect wasn't being friendly with me
How much?
100 mbit is around $60-70ish from my home state. I'm currently leaching off of my uni's
So $50 for a gigabit connection is rather
Whelps, 2gbps is $60 a month. Not my provider tho. Time to switch providers next year.
The only time I've switched providers was when my family's house was suffering from random disconnects from the Internet. They refused to fix it so we pulled the plug and switched.
https://viewqwest.com/internet/broadband-plans if anyone wanna take a look.
Check out our latest fiber broadband plans for you!
I switched when gigabit first same out
My original provider was still doing broadband 50mbps speed for $70 lul. Then my current provider came in with $50 gigabit and fked the triopoly here up.
Never looked back since.
It's cheap to do this kind of thing in sg cuz sg is very small
So its very cheap for fiber infrastructure.
Helps with the cost.
10Gbits for 45€ a month for me
well we are the number 1 country by internet speed and availability of gigabit in EU

even doe we're poor af
yes 10

but we're close
no that's just me pulling strings xD

businesses have doe

for a lot more ofc
So it's not available to general consumers as of yet?
since they get internal VoIP and a lot of crap I don't neef
well 2Gbits is available
:yeptune:
for about 25€ a montg

Comparable to the prices here I guess after currency conversion.
Oh? Euro is that weak now?
It's been declining yeah
It was like a dollar and twenty some months ago
Now just around 1.13
I rmb when euro was 2:1 for my currency
I still remember when the Euro was strong compared to US.
Anyways what do ya'll think of Teslas?
Not 1:2, but

Tesla cars
Overpriced
And not too great of quality assurance
I do admire their progressiveness in looking to the future, but their execution leaves much to be desired.
Ain't their warranty program pretty great?
I mean, I heard horror stories
And does it really matter if the warranty program is good
if the product they give you is not properly made?

Hmmm, I did not hear of problems with Model S and X so far tho. Only body gap problems with early model 3s that has mostly been fixed if I'm not wrong.
I see a wild nozo lurking.
He be lurking
But yes, the stories I've heard with quality has been mainly been with older models.
Haven't really checked in on the newer ones

I blame them trying to rush model 3 to market and hit production numbers.
I kinda envision smaller cities or even countries like Singapore enforcing a tesla only rule. So there will never be anymore traffic jams or accidents due to tesla fleet control managing all traffic.
I'm hoping for more of smart cars
Then again. A tesla is 400k here so.
And machines handling traffic
Or increased focus on public transportation
Basically less humans on the road, controlling cars
The better
I still feel auto driving > public transport
I agree for comfort's sake
Once a person hits a certain income level they will outright refuse public transport
Plus it isn't really too convenient either.
It take an hour by public transport for me to get to work.
But 15mins or so in a car.
Or less depending on traffic
Well it would depend on the scenario and how good the infrastructure is
Singapore's bus system is pretty darn fine I would say.
My campus and the city itself has busses running roughly 15-30 minutes per route
So you can get to places in a reasonable pace
Slower than cars sure, but not too slow
Ours is depending on route and time. But most routes have an interval of less than 10mins mostly.
But I do understand that you want speed, comfort, etc
so people want cars
Preferably cars that can drive themselves
Then thing is the constant stops and transfers to get to specific locations.
mmm yeah, but investing into public services decreases the amount of cars in the area and thus provides less traffic issues
And allows pedestrian growth
I don't really agree. You're just providing for the people who can't afford or don't want a car.
Unless you're public transport is a "private taxi service", most people won't forgo their car for public transport in my opinion.
But I heard a country is testing the idea of totally free public transport.
So we'll have to see how that goes.
I'm more of observing this as a viewpoint of someone from the US, which has automobiles everywhere (I drive a car myself). Sure you get the freedom of getting from point A to point B under your command, but this has serious tradeoffs when you have thousands of other people that do the same. You start to massively increase the amount of cars on the road, and thus the higher chance of traffic or even jams during accidents. I say utilizing a good public transport service is an excellent way to counteract this. By directing people that want to get to areas quickly, don't want to afford a car that costs them yearly, or don't want a car period you will see a decrease in people driving.
I'm not for totally forgoing private transportation, but public ones has its merits
And a system that is automated by machines will reduce traffic stress, which is what I'm really hoping for
I will say that most traffic issues don't stem from people using cars often, but from a system which has issues due to accommodating people.
If the public transport can get me to my desired location in less than twice the time it takes by car, I'll glady forgo cars for the rest of my life tbh. But I think that with the rise of self-driving cars, public transportation may soon be just a fleet of self-driving taxis in the future that pools people together that are along the same route more or less.
Machine managed traffic really cannot come soon enough tho.
Tfw u dunno what to chose as ur computer case
i personally really love the fractal design cases
Currently i've smth like 150€ to invest in it
Just going to upgrade some pieces, Going to take a Z390 MSI + I5 9600k + 16Gb RAM (3000MHz CL15) + a computer case
I did noticed the Corsair Carbide 540 design being kinda unique, making the PC ez to build but making it way more annoying to move around
I have a Phanteks case
There is also the Thermaltake View 31 that seems interesting (and tempered glass so why not ?)
As for the rest I dunno more
totally didn't get it bcz it has Aura RGB sync
I'm personally would focus on airflow
look up case reviews
Be quiet?
then looks
Corsair Carbide 540 seems interesting
like tempered glass abd RGB
Air flow and space is usually what I want
Where are you from?
RGB is just unneeded imo.
I'm also looking for water cooling moun- HOW DARE U
Y'all mind if I praise RGB
Welp for the carbide I noticed that u can separate the PC in two and put the main part with the mother board on one side (and still take a water cooling) and put the rest on the other side
By all means
I mean with RAM I can get where they're coming from
Probably the most prominent place to have RGB
even the desk is RGB
Since it's so visible
Lemme guess: RGB programmed with Arduino.
Reminds me of when I watched a video of a person of building a table that served as a tower
Integrated?
Mid-range used GPUs are selling for as cheap as dirt
I'm obsessed with RGB yes
... RGB car?

RGB underglow
which one
yeah
It's the thing where you can have 2 computers inside right?
both mine and my gf's pc will be in it
me on the left of the case
she on the right
That's awesome.
I just need some water cooling parts and that's it
since the systems are going in as is
Nice.
fun fact
acryllic tubing from local plastics company is the same as expensive retail one
Huh.
Well water cooling is pretty much out of the question for me
Unless I went with cheap Chinese cooling
same type of acrylic, same thickness, just without the extra cost
But that money might as well be spent on a better mobo.
so that means it has the same quality as the expensive one?
It does seem like it.
seems like it
What about PETG tho?
Custom watercooling huh, nice

ripp my gaming laptop
Overheating took its toll I imagine
Is 70-ish degrees safe?
It's Celsius.
Is your GPU being bottlenecked or below that?
managed to turn a thin and definitely not light laptop into a hybrid
until the GPU block leaked
one drop it took
and ded
F
it dropped right between the dye BGA and one if the VRAM chips
yeah that's goner
BSOD and then it couldn't use 3D mode
had to install arch with a custom kernel and special config for the driver for it to work somewhat
y i k e s

hella sexy
Yes
Huh, looks like the one I got at home
Nice
And I didn't know they made RGB mousepads
Corsair K95 RGB, Corsair Scimitar and their RGB mousepad
I am a steelseries and corsair fan though
I love both their stuff
I switch my whole set up once a while (kb, mouse, headset and mousepad) between those when I am renewing
The "old" stuff goes to a dude if he wants it
awwwww yiiiiiiis @fickle crest
man my mouse is starting to have the scrolling thing
hate it
Scrolling thing?
u know when you scroll up or down
and randomly it will jump just a tad bit in the other direction
Huh.
Bois
I'm gonna sell my old 730 for 40 euro lmao
Considering that I published the offer 3 days ago
ayyyyy
Lucky bastard.
Here my 730 is barely worth anything
Urgh it's christmas and I want to buy something so badly
so i was previously asking about the level up stat gains for ships and now i need to know if there is a way to look at the game's code.
anyone know how to do that?
I'm personally am trying to crack open some of the source code files
since they're encrypted
lemme know if you crack them, cuz im trying to figure out their algorithm
its either just (lvl 100 stats without LB - base stats)/99 level ups
or
its some kind of thing where the stats get a higher boost the higher the level is
@subtle hawk Have you tried the new gamemode of CS:GO?
It's fucking shit, I don't wanna play CS:GO anymore, also, F2P Prime Matchmaking
This shit is gonna be full of cheaters and smurfs
I hope others I know think that
fed up of them dragging me to play

so i just had the weirdest glitch on youtube
i just finished watching a playlist and went to go watch another playlist and instead of the first video of the 2nd playlist i was greeted by the first video of the FIRST playlist, which wasnt even in the 2nd playlist
i then clicked on the first vid in the playlist side bar and i got the correct thing
I'd been trying to get the music extracted for AL but whatever they used to encrypt it doesn't work with the tools for decrypting Criware music files
Also soon I'll be able to upgrade my laptop's HDD to an SSD, provided I can navigate the innards... They don't make it nearly as easy as they used to to upgrade components
@obtuse dawn the files aren't using the default encryption for criware
I mean they do
but they also have their own file encryption
Of course they do... =/
Though the background images and live2d skins can be viewed with Unity viewers
Guess it's just the music
are there any open source android emulators out there?
I like my corsair setup actually and that big mouse helps me
The other mice are too small for me
i have g502 hero, it work amazing
@ruby girder CoolerMaster MasterWatt 550 good psu?
Go for corsair or evga's they have higher quality
But i have a be quiet one on my fam pc
@unborn flicker yeah seeing the code would be faster but ill know enough about it once my shropshire gets to lvl 70
Seasonic S12 good? Just asking since I arleady got a PSU
my dudes
I got a new toy
a brand new Supermicro 1U server
Xeon Silver cpus
128 GB RAM
4 TB high RPM SAS drives
unboxed it today at uni
the wrapping peel was
on Monday we're unboxing the other one
dayum, bro
Holy crap
I mean it's not as powerful as my home server but it's still pretty legit

"Not as powerful," he says. 128 Gb RAM, alone, is unimaginable to my pocketbook.
Yamato's about to build the Navi, from Serial Experiments Lain. Or Samaritan ...
meanwhile im sitting over here with 16 GB 12 GB of DDR3
one of my ram sticks died recently send some flowers for its funeral
💮🇫
Y'know, it's meant to be a server, not a gaming pc
So 128 GB RAM it's kinda decent for a server
its 4x4 GB and one is dead
so only 12 are usable
so far it hasnt noticeably impacted performance but thats because i havent tried playing arma 3 with all my mods
i mean technically it IS dual channel
although i guess since one is dead, one of the channels is only half the address space
but id rather just buy a completely new system rather than upgrade anything on this one considering every single part is a few generations behind
@quartz atlas what your desktop looks like?
I have a laptop
Sure, I'll DM you at night. I'm at work right now. senpai pinged me, I'm so excited
Sure, but won't it be #off-topic for #technology tho

Best budget gpu to pair with the i7?
Would switching from a 3 gig 1060 to a 570 be wise?
I have an nvidia bias so
Hope AMD has something good for CES
Dun look forward to anyth in the gpu space
They literally can't produce anything competitive
CPU tho
👌
oof
@tame topaz the 570 is on par with the 6GB 1060
@subtle hawk Really now?! The benchmarks I'm viewing so far show otherwise...
Maybe you're confused with the 580?
maybe
The benchmarks show that it's weaker than the 1060 by a few percent
But I still wanna get it because VRAM

Got it
any android phone experts here
xiaomi pocophone F1 or oneplus 5T
there's a sale coming on and in my area 5T is about $50 more expensive over the pocophone
poco hands down
Whichever one comes with OEM Unlock, just in case you wanna root/custom ROM that shit later.
poco has higher specs for the price tho. nth can win poco in the value for $ market rn iirc.
i see thanks
but the 5T has a better display and 2gb more RAM 🤔 any thoughts on the display?
i would prioritize a btr processor if you're going budget personally. too much ram is overkill. my p20 pro rarely goes above 3gb ram use.
what phone ye using?
Redmi Note 5
ah
actually im using a oneplus 3T given by my brother but he kinda destroyed the screen
its still working perfectly fine but i scratched my face answering a phone call
ow
my old phone got accidentally dropped in the water
so that's why I said I bought it in a hurry
xD
Yeah
And here I am barely getting by with 2 gigs of RAM
AL would crash kinda often
Though not too often
Nah more like restart itself
I think It doesn't use more than 1 GB of RAM
Not really sure, I almost have 3-4 GB of RAM free / 1-2 GB used by system/
Huawei P10 Pro to farm in bed and NOX to stream
95% of people haven't even heard of my phone
my phone was $99 and handles AL well
i remember my windows phone that couldnt measure its ram in GB
i remember my old nokia phone that even harder than a brick
mean while my Oppo F3 broke beyond hope just from a drop

true, but its still just a S845. marginal higher performance for so much more $.
or is it s850? i forgot.
845
1st time i see phone come with luggage
Akashi's secret phone build.
@brave anchor you know that's a review unit
I mean u get a pelican case with a acer predator 21X

that thing weighs about 10 kilos
mechanical keyboard on lappy
"laptop"
I've had the opportunity to use one for an hour or so
that's definitely not a laptop
i hope i can see 1 in real
very unlikely
they're extremely rare
even I got lucky that this guy had ut for a day and I managed to get my hands on it for a little while
bring a whole desktop to gaming outside :X
ok , $9999
it almost same price with a new car
I don't consider those hi-end gaming laptops a laptop
it's so heavy it'll crush your lap
I do
but the 21X is a whole another league
yeah I meant those things
my friend has a high end gaming laptop
Still a laptop. I'm using a msi gt72 dominator myself.
and that shit is definitely a laptop
very light for the heat it packs
my MacBook is 1.5 kg and I still think it's super light
That kinda money, why not just pick up a portable server?
if it weights more than 5kg it's just a portable pc at that point
compared to my old ROG latop that had like 4.7 kg with the brick
Yea. But which one could you swap more internal parts on?
That'd be why.
so it's still somewhat ugradeable
Even pc laptops are starting to pull that non-upgradeable stuff, the thinner models.
Batteries will prolly always "suck."
as long as battery life and perf is up to snuff
if I want upgradeability I have the desktop
That's one of the shit points on linux-side. ACPI is still a messy bastard.
As for upgrading: I am surprised noone ever tried to make a modular laptop. I know I'd fucking well save up for a lappy I could board-swap every few years.
not me
I like thin & lights
me too
MacBook pro, Dell XPS, LG Gram, Xiaomi Mi Notebook, Microsoft Surface
Eh. I want light, I have a tablet. I'm old enough to remember the ass-end of the 70s. What's an 8lb laptop to my ancient ass?
Does it have the internal specs? Bring that shit to daddy.
I also grew on NES and SNES games
but I'm now a person that loves to stay close to the bleeding edge of the technology
NGL, even my windoze-hating ass'd try a Surface, tho. I must admit M$ put out nice quality on those. Rumor has it, they're considering amd chips for a future series.
I never bring my msi around anymore cuz of the size, weight, and horrible battery life. I would kill to have a nice ultrabook right now.
and towards greatness
pop a r5 or r7 in one, we'd talk biz.
Im stuck using a sucky Toshiba at work
I won't buy that surface if the battery life is less than 6 hours
my current one lasts about 10 hours
damn windose, unplugged floppy cable from the motherboard and it crashed into bsod, LUL
Gods no. I swore off Toshiba. Last machine was a damn cheapy Tosh. Bastards expect you to cough premium for just activated virtualization in yer bios. Never again.
wel ye @jade sinew
any Os would crash at that
PATA or SATA aren't hot pluggable on standard mobos
Yamato ain't wrong. Even 'nix-based shit will act a damn fool, then.
I've been working with OSes and kernels for so much time I already know by memory how a pc turns on at the electronic level
I grew up in 2000s yet I'm into old 80s hardware
i tried plugging and unplugging ide and sata hdds/ cd/dvd drives and nothing was crashing
ngl old hardware is amazing for learning the basics
Or BASIC
No, but it is part of computer history.
so is FORTH and Fortran
cobol
still used unfortunately
tell me about it.
damn bank systems
I have a fellow sysadmin that only uses BSD for hosting
and I'm like why
why use a monolithic OS in 2018
bank systems wanting the fastest transaction codes
Heh. BSD is my side-ho'. Solid OS, but a royal bitch to run if yer trying to even somewhat keep up with newer EQ.
those use mainframes
that run their own specialized OS
@mental coyotetry to run NGINX, Node.js, Elixir, Docker or Kubernetes on BSD
it's gonna be a PITA
and if one service fails you're fucked
while a modern OS will recover
Oh, fuck no. Hard enough to even RUN BSD on newer machines, let alone trying newer code with it.

that is way better and more secure than old legacy crap
That's the fail point; their drivers are even more behind the curve than Slack or Deb Stable. And that says a shitload.
hey
my country bank system still using win95

OK, but admit that the kernel is an old one.
can't remember which one is on 9.6
Yer not running that on a lappy from this year, out-of-the-box.
OTOH, I used deb for a few years. Shit's bulletproof, you find gear it works well on.
Should be fine on that.
it's being a bitch with NIC drivers but the rest is gucci
Now, an inspiron 5575, with touchscreen and shit? Not happening, with any kernel less than ~4.17
touch has always been a PITA on linux
Eh. Works pretty fine, on here. Since 4.18, at least. But, we both know mileage varies from box to box and company to company.
Dell tends to do well.
We don't discuss nouveau. Glad I'm not rolling nvidia gpu.
Intel/Nvidia here
Hell, remember the first year of pulseaudio? That was fun to deal with. Especially for a beats audio setup.
NVidia isn't for Linux
Nvidia is barely for windows, let's be honest.
or how I like to call it
novideo
lol
even doe I have 8 of their cards
Was Intel/NVidia too until AMD recently released better CPUs
ayyyymd won't buy me until it has something to beat Intel/Nvidia into the ground
also considering that Intel is about to enter the GPU war
hm yeah
it's gonna be one helluva interesting year
AMD's come up a lot, considering their r&d budget vs. intel's.
I'll still be stuck in using a laptop for an another year or so though
Hell, wait until ARM starts hitting lap/desktop machines. That'll be interesting shit.
More and more are intel chips.
Which aren't the greatest, but do shit on most arm sets.
arm's advantage is in how many cores you can stack, without significant heat issues.
imagine an octa-core tab or phone with intel or amd. that shit'd burn itself hard.
9's are brutal, I hear. Haven't pissed with one, yet.
x86 does really bad when it comes to embedded systems
Truuuue.
Remember Intel Atom?
water-cooled, wot?
not air-cooling that damn thing. it'd be like Utsuho in Touhou: CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢
I love me some Okuu. More a Yukari man, tho.
Why be the lazy hooman, when you can be the lazy youkai?
rofl
low-key I should try and replicate that drone
a drone body, electromagnets and a bottom and front mounted cameras
@mental coyote this is my new toy that I'm setting up
That almost looks like the business end of an all-in-one, on the bottom.
(Remember: not a desktop builder.) I meant what yer monitor's sitting on.
thats a server case meant to be mounted in a server rack
They're thin, nowadays. Holy shit.
not rlly
that's a 1U
most servers are 2 or 3U
meaning twice or thrice the size of this one
in height
Now, that makes sense.
now put magnets on the damn thing https://youtu.be/4l-6qWaZpVQ
I was given a rare opportunity which I simply couldn't resist. Testing my monster magnet on three different servers! Will the sturdy servers be much better a...

That's Arch. Harsh mistress, but you will learn how yer box is set up.
bought 2600x few months ago and 3000 series already looks so promising fuck
have fun
Yea. Go fig, I almost waited a week and got yer box, instead.
Headphones sale, oh my
Feeling seriously tempted
But I still wanna save up for Ace Combat 7
but... good headphones for a good price...
there have few good headphone with decent price
I personally still prefer IEMs on the go.
currently still using Razer tiamat 2:2, 4 years old still kicking good
iphones banned froms sale in china?
was in a qualcomm press release, looks like phones older than the xs

@ruby girder it Free tho
i hope i have extra money to change headset
i like senheisser
if i have extra money , i better take G933
stinger cloud is more comfortable and better compared to my other Sennheiser hd201 or bloody g301

i got them for free
my friend suggest me RS160
but it rare in my area

my friend using this

Rs195 is what I have at home for my PC when I'm not using my speakers, they are great
@ruby girder give objective opinions please not hate speech
not so expert in those headset spec, i might go IT fair and search which suitable for me.
give the said graphs to a person or a recommendation based on what they might need
not everyone is an audiophile
some people may not have the space and/or budget for a good separate mic
so a all in one solution is usually prefered
just like pc prebuilts or all-in-ones
there's people that spend time to build them from parts and there's people that just want a working pc
KZ ZS3?
I currently have the ATE and I love it
Too bad too much strain on the cables means it is just activating Google constantly now
Razer? I used a pair of 7.1 krakens for while....things fell apart pretty quick.
Then I tried loading about 13 games at once and all the sounds hit at the same time and blew the left speaker out.
I should check which channel I'm in before posting
Isn't this chat a little bit dead?
(printf "I wonder if Discord has Racket syntax highlighting...)
That would be a "no"
I did a thing~ Because my college class said do the thing
Plotting meteors, whether they've been found or not, and size the circles in a logarithmic relationship to the mass
that's neat
Only thing is Racket is Lisp-based, so (you ((get a (bunch) of ((parenthesis (all over)) the) place))))

(I(love(function(al) programming)))
Adored...
He figured out AMD's agenda.
This leak might as well be their ploy to observe public opinion.
And all of us saying that these leaks are "too good to be true" might as well have been a self fulfilling prophecy.
Too good to be true? They'll make it so.
Congrats, everyone. You might as well have played yourself.
Oh boy.
hi guys not the best place to ask but i just bought xiaomi pocophone and i want to unlock the bootloader but i ran into this crappy problem any android experts know how to fix this?
it says device unlocked but going back into the phone it is still locked, retrying does not work and i already have debugging and OEM unlocking enabled
@tame topaz that is some next level conspiracy theory right there
@tidal hill u know
u have to unlock bootloader from the phone
not with some fake program
i already have that enabled
then you're good to go
get fastboot and adb
and flash what you want
flash TWRP and you're off to the races
but unless you wanna get rid of MIUI or get root I don't see any point @tidal hill
but doesnt that option only just allow for unlocking
and doesnt actually already unlock it?
this ain't HTC
and yes i want to remove miui
also u know how to use fastboot right
volume down + power?
oh another thing
even when the phone is booted into fastboot and connected to pc
typing fastboot devices in cmd adb doesnt show the device
but does it show in ADB
no
fastboot and adb are completely different
tell me more
fastboot interacts with the bootloader
adb with the OS itself
while a device might not show up in fastboot it can show up in adb
also u have the USB drivers right?
uhm not quite sure whats that
okay
Did you register the device on their website?? I think that I heard somewhere that the pocophone needs registering with a phonenumber before the boot loader can be unlocked
That might also be another phone I'm thinking of though
@ember crest yes that's the procedure for all MIUI phones
doe they have some that don't need it
yeah i registered
I'm unsure then..
I wouldn't look to me for any more help though, all I'm good at is making oos fail to boot after any update
@tidal hill alright do you have fastboot on ur pc?
not yet
Oh, did you also wait 24 hours after registering?? Another not helpful thing, but I think that's also needed
i think they removed the waiting requirement
I'm unsure, it was mentioned in a video I watched not too long ago
But I guess it's possible
yeah there was a linustechtips video showing you how to unlock the poco
Yes, that was the one I watched
the unlocker would tell you to wait before unlocking but its not there for me
Well, I guess it doesn't hurt to continue
I mean, the worst case is it's still locked and fastboot just won't let you do anything
At which point, I guess trying again in 24 hours is all I can think of to do, sorry I don't have anything else more helpful
I guess you could ask on the whatever forums
this is how a untampered phone looks like
@tidal hill if you need to I can send you the archive with ADB and Fastboot
also remember to enable usb debugging
are those the SDK tools?
ok installed what now
plug ur phone in and make sure usb debugging is on
does it need to be in fastboot?
k then
now @tidal hill go into a command line
and type adb devices
that should start adb and fastboot servers
then it should show your device hash and the mode it's in
unauthorized
make sure on your phone you approve of the connection
ok now it says device
oof
ye
now in the same command line
type fastboot devices
it should show up now
same hash
only this time in fastboot mode
< waiting for any device >

this is one troublesome phone
yes
there it is
that can have something to do with it?!
AMD Ryzen has problems with fastboot
🤦
k time to buy intel cpu
don't u have a friend or smth that can let u run some things for like an hour
You could technically just get some suuper old used thing for like, pennies
It only needs to have usb and command line
jk i have my bro's rig
i'll try the mi unlocker first maybe that would work on his pc
Why does Ryzen have issues anyway??
told ya
Is it all AMD CPU's or just Ryzen??
Ryzen specific
FX and the like are gucci
aside from their other endless flaws

ok yeah there is a 72 hour waiting period
but at least i found the problem thanks @subtle hawk
ur welcome
Feel free to ask again if you need any more help!
even if I'm not very helpful, atleast Yamato is ;-;
At least you can oem unlock.
Unfortunate, since that's the one bad part about these newer us j7s.
Looking at the stuff that Samsung put on the phone I had like, years ago, I'm not surprised that their phones aren't all nice and unlocked and such
🎉
@mental coyote with Samsung the stock experience is p good
Yes. BUT, they shag you outta Adoptable Storage. 16 Gb ain't fuckall, these days. Even 32 is mediocre.
Wait are we talking about phones WITH i7s or is that 2 diff convos?
what about i7s
Ok its 2 diff convos
I think i skipped a couple lines and it went from ryzens and i7s to samsung and i got all sorts of
ah that
I think you must've read j7s as i7s, I think the j7 is a Samsung phone
Either that or
With the fastboot cpu thing
that was about fastboot and adb
imo the J series is potato
if ur getting a samsung phone then might as well go for S or Note
oneplus oxygen OS is real good imo
I don't liek 1+

i mean of course i like that too that's why i'm removing MIUI
shittiest thing about MIUI is all the unwanted apps they include
OOS is fine until it constantly fails updates for me and fails to boot after one, causing me to lose all data
Goodbye OOS, not going back
Also, my brother has the 1+6, I don't see why there are so many people saying it's terrible
My friend was literally like 'the 1+6 is terrible' and then didn't really say why
And then said that if you get a phone double the price you'll be better off
Yeah no headphone jack sucks, but also 80% of phones don't have one now
It's not exactly an exception anymore, it's norm
^sad truth
at least samsung still has a jack
good selling point for the biggest android phone manufacturer
Oh, I was talking about 6t in above, just btw
I don't know, I'll stay with 3T
I don't see any point getting a better phone every year'
i am using a 3T before i got this poco
but it was given by my brother and he broke the screen real good so that's the only reason why i'm switching
i couldn't bear the cracked screen and actually went back to my 1+2 lol
Cracked screens suck
But also I don't know how everyone gets them so easily, i don't take much care of my phones atall and have never gotten one
some people like the feeling of having a stock phone i guess that's why they don't protect with tempered glass and cases
It's so dumb though
but for me i'm taking no chances i'm waiting for my poco glass package to arrive before i take it out of the house
in the meantime back to my 1+2
You have to have a pretty good case and luck though
I just literally throw a case on my phone and forget about it
btw have you guys seen that iphone titanium case
Landing on the corner isa death sentence for your phone
Is it £1000 too??
But it also will hit WAY harder
dumb part is that the case isn't scuff proof itself, even if it protects the phone it won't retain its elegance
Like i know titanium is a light metal but wrapping it around a phone is still gonna add quite a bit of weight to it
Yer not necessarily wrong, Yamato. I prolly should just go hardcore, next phone. I'd not need or want to upgrade for years.
I kinda wish windows phone survived cuz i had one and it was pretty good
5G connectivity coming next year though, might want to hold off upgrading
5g will take a dog's age to roll out, just like 4g did.
around a couple years for it to become mainstream, if you don't wanna upgrade for years that's a factor for consideration
Could be worse, it could go as slow as ipv6
best to wait till it gets released and tests are out
don't want the same thing to happen with nvidia RTX cards
I don't mind waiting for upgrading
Don't need to join the 'aaaa there's a notch why' club
Like, noone complained at just smaller screens, soo
5g will most likely be restricted to single carriers per sku the first generations just like with 3g and 4g when they were new
that sucks
i remember when i was a kid i'm like "damn, 3G is fast i don't need 4G" and trying 3G again now i'm like nope can't use it anymore
compared to 2g, 3g is very fast
indeed
back then i only watched 720p videos on youtube and i thought 720p was great
needs have since changed
Anyone know if nokia android phones are any good?
just watched a vid on nokia 8 yesterday
can't say how good it is till i've tried one for myself, but nokia is nonexistent in my country in this age
Do they still have it where you can add a microSD to it?
Or did nokia realize it was breaking the unspoken rule of giving too much power to the user
yes
