yuh, I like U.2 and U.3 a lot more... also because it allows hotswapping
but are those mainly for servers?
Datacenter SSDs so yea
unless you run clustered databases you won't see the benefit of those
poggers
I mean, I do run both a Ceph and Garage cluster so... guess we've solved that issue.
no we didn't
unless you have the actual throughput through the cluster to warrant those it financially doesn't make sense to even consider them
My entire network setup doesn't make any financial sense, doesn't mean it's not fun to play around with the stuff
you could achieve the same thing with ram disks if you so desired
and it won't cost an arm and a leg
¯_(ツ)_/¯
you're taking it way to serious homie.
If I had the money to afford even one of those DC SSDs, I'd not be stuck with a Ryzen 5 3600, RX 580 and 128GB of RAM
which is why we make sensible purchases for our homelab
and not throw money at ooh shiny
Oh cmon, it's not like you never dreamt about having some ridiculously overkill server, fast af sportscar or something else that no person who actually has to think about the purchases they make would buy...
maybe when I was 12
but nowadays u can rent said car or server cluster for that matter if you really want to have one
specing out a server with those drives for a homelab is the equivalent of going on pcpartpicker and making a build from sorting by price descending
Viable strat BTW
but if you rent it, you can't do all kinds of even more whack stuff with it.
I can rent a Toyota GR Yaris but chances are, I'm not gonna be allowed to add a wing on the back, a wide body kit, modify the engine, strip out the entire interior, change the suspension and full-send it through the forest here.
If you buy one? I don't think they really care much that you turn it into a Rally monster.
brands like ferrari, mclaren and lamborghini will care a lot about their cars
and will even get you in court if you do smth outrageous to them
they want their cars to be "pure"
than other car brands
Ferrari? Definitely, but screw Ferrari.
McLaren? They'd at most be like "oh for christs sake"... and that'd be it.
Lambo would literally be like: "AYOOOOOOOOO"
But ferrari is a straight up bitch when it comes to their cars
they like the red
But Yamato's point still stands, I'm with him
I mean, even I stand with him. But doesn't mean a man can dream.
Again, if I had those amounts of money that I could just spend 4K on an SSD, I'd not have a Ryzen 5 3600, RX580 and "just" 128GB of RAM either.
And I'd probably not be driving a hacked together Peugeot 206 rally car either...
Why do you have such an average system but 128GB of RAM in it
Hit the 64GB usage way to often so decided to throw in an extra 64GB.
What are you doing that isn't limited by your CPU or GPU first.
Actually, that RAM usage was because I hit a GPU limit.
GPU too weak for the stuff I made in BlackMagic Fusion (and the fact I didn't exactly make the compositions very efficiently didn't help either), so I had to rely on RAM to cache as much as possible instead, which caused me to run out of 64GB pretty quickly.
So why not buy a new GPU? Well... I'm sure as hell not gonna spend 900 euro on an RTX2060 (yes, it was that time of the GPU shortage)
Isn't that extremely slow and hugely impactful on performance
Hm?
It's more Ferrari. McLaren owners do the weirdest shit and they don't care. At most they lock you out of your engine so people just figure out how to get in there to modify it. Lambo doesn't give a fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.
If anything, Lambo would laugh their asses off and request to share some of the stuff one snorted.
McLaren engineers are still on an acid trip designing their cars to care
True
meanwhile aviation folk, to change this one bolt you need 12 different certificates and qualifications
else the plane is not airworthy
As someone who watches a shit ton of plane crash videos, nah put the random bolt on the wrong way. What's the worst that can happen?
Pilot gets sucked half way out the window being held back by the cabin crew so he doesn't get sucked out while the co-pilot is landing the plane
as someone with a PPL it's a royal PITA for GA planes
GA and FAR 23 is practically wild west if you know what happen behind the scene
even in the shortage i think i got a 3060 for 1000cad
well it was in a prebuilt
and they "listed" the prices of the system
the 3060 was 1 grand in there 💀 and it arrived damaged too jesus
That's why I have a really hard time recommending high-end prebuilts to people. I've watched a number of Gamer's Nexus videos on them, and almost all have had significant problems.
depends on the country
EASA would nuke us from orbit if we try smth fishy
Damn.
800-900 for an RTX2060 was pretty common here :
I even managed to sell an RX480 for 500 back then (it was already like 4-5 years old at the time), so that should tell youbhow whack it was here.
does anyone use playcover?
Heh. Just read that one earlier.
wadam
that's expenseive
aye xD
That'd be like 850USD or so. For a bloody RTX2060...

Live2D Cubism is a popular 2D puppet animation software most known for its use by VTubers1 and in certain mobile games. In order to load the models generated by the software, developers need...
WELL WELL WELL
LMAOOOOOOOOOO
What a bottom tier bitch made condition
"could compete"
Even the mere possibility of competition is too much for them
The EU isn't gonna like that
Just got my new hardware setup... and I can't run EXPO timings on the DRAM. It won't post. I need to try out a BIOS update, but I'm not hopeful
Seems like it's a pretty common issue.
Also, I now apparently qualify for W11. Anyone have experience with it?
win11 was a pain in the butt to set up
requires you to sign into a microsoft account
and connect to internet
I'm sure there's a way to get around this, but that's one extra step I would have to take
there was also just as many telemetry tasks
I'm more worried about UX. How different is it from Win10?
WINDOWS 12 LETS GOOOOOOOOOOO
So I'm guessing that is the reason why we haven't gotten many L2D outfits as of late
That's why you get the .ISO file, use Rufus which includes the TPM skip, MS account check bs, it skips that too and there you go

my dinosaur laptop won’t install w11
Does it use a Parallel port?
Nope but it’s exactly like the one in Long Island Halloween skin
anybody know why MKV video always lagging?
but its not lagging if its on VLC
In Windows Media Player? If so, just a WMP thing... Happens on my PC + laptop as well.
oh yeah movies and TV works fine
bruh moment
hmm so thats a file format WMP doesn't support
other else you find?
It does "support" it, just poorly.
I honestly only ever use mp4 and mkv... And VLC most of the time so not really.
WMP is honestly ass. I hate using it even for basic MP4 viewing
VLC and MPC tend to run .mkv files just fine. It's just the Windows Media Player that tends to not like it as much
VLC is standard media player imo
MPV and MPC-HC can be played around with if you want something idk
Maaaaybe
Ok so
Almost all the combinations of colors dont work
EXCEPT ONE
Puke Green with Gold Frame.
$550 Canadian. lol
This shit is living inside a case and never coming out lmao
I'd expect to see your order refunded
Don't think they can do that
Depends on jurisdiction.
Looks like Desu is from the USA, so they very well can.
Back in 2016, a very similar case came up where Samsung accidentally sold TVs for $100 instead of $800.
People got refunded (and offered a $50 gift certificate) and when people filed complaints, the FTC responded that there is no federal law requiring companies to honour the price.
Walmart had a similar issue as well and they also didn't have to honour it.
And I think a lot of places have clauses in their terms of service that basically say "if it's an obvious pricing error, we can just cancel it and refund you".
So yea... Unless Desu is very lucky or Samsung just wants to dump the flips... Expect cancelation like Hamaal said.
Only specific colors
Quebec has consumer laws lmao
There's Faucher v. Costco Wholesale Canada Ltd (2015 QCCQ 3366) where it was ruled an e-commerce site advertising computers for $2 was not obliged to honour its mistake because it was put in the ToS that the retailer reserved "the right to cancel, to terminate or not to process orders (including accepted orders) where the price or other material information on the Sites is inaccurate".
Section 15 of Samsung's conditions screw you there:
Reject, correct, cancel or terminate any order, including accepted orders, for any reason, including but not limited to
https://www.samsung.com/ca/termsandconditions/
There's a whole rats nest of "pull media" and "push media" behind it (in this case, it 99% likely falls under "pull media") which I won't explain but the gist of that is: They made a proposal, you made the offer, they merely "reject" the offer by cancelling and refunding.
Again, you may be lucky and they won't notice (or they just want to dump the phone for some reason) but expect cancelation.
Though I'm not a lawyer (and especially not fully aware of Quebec law - merely found jurisprudence) so who knows what I may have missed.
still
that cheap
worth it
500 for a phone that performs really well
No
I'm just saying Quebec laws be dumb AF and they think they entitled af
Both works
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9YNF8oWS5Q shut up oneplus. lol
Thanks to OnePlus for sponsoring today’s video! Check out the OnePlus 11 Concept at https://www.oneplus.com/us/11-concept
Our phones, be it iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, or Google Pixel, are pretty dang powerful. But as our desktop GPU friends have shown us, all that power, means a lot of heat. So what’s a smartphone to do? Well, maybe watercooling? ...
UserBenchmark strikes again with their "review"
UserFuckmark
Ahh yes. The IntelBenchmark site.
hm looks like I'll be able to get a 4790 for my temp build rather than 4590 when I will get my first paycheck next month
Nice. 4790 rocks
sooo enlighten me, why the fuck does a phone need water cooling
You ever tried to play a gacha while charging your phone and then had to answer a call?
The bottom half of the screen is molten
also this
You mean dont use a phone while its charging
Don't play an intensive game while charging.
Does azur lane count as intensive
Yes, very.
If your phone is doing that, using watercooler won't improve the situation that much tbf
Unless there's forced airflow involved somewhere that is, of which oneplus didn't do, or if your thermal design is terribly bad it needs water to spread
It spreads the heat better for the processor (maybe, it's using piezoelectrics, but I'd think the usual phase change will do just as good here), the heat soak for the battery is probably just about the same here however
Well, at least it also adds thermal mass, and water or glycol is much cheaper than aluminum so there's that too...
yes
and no it isn’t hot
the entire phone is molten
kekw
that + QuadcoreBenchmarksite.
According to that site, the i3-9350KF is faster than the i9-9980XE and about as fast (~2%) as the 5950X.
https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i3-9350KF-vs-Intel-Core-i9-9980XE/4055vsm652504
https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i3-9350KF-vs-AMD-Ryzen-9-5950X/4055vs4086
Based on 3,643 user benchmarks for the Intel Core i3-9350KF and the Core i9-9980XE, we rank them both on effective speed and value for money against the best 1,400 CPUs.
I hope none of them are scalpers
The markup here is crazy
At $150++ for 4GB version
I'm like... I'd just pick a thin mITX or something, not like I need the form factor
a mITX pc won't be able to do real-time processing or complex signaling like a SBC can
You can do RTOS just fine in x86, actual GPIO might be a problem tho
x86 is not optimized for RTOS, sure you can do it but it'll be a waste of resources and time, also yes GPIO
At least it isn't $150 waste on an A72
for 150$ I'd get a rock 5 model B instead
ClonePies are also what I do here, better bang for the buck most of the time
I can tolerate the hassle, mostly
that thing blows any pi out of the water
2.5G LAN
wifi 6E
bluetooth 5.2
PCIe 3.0 x4
8K triple displays
neural processing engine
USB 3.1
Orange/Banana for random shit
Rock for when I need the PCIe, tho availability can be PITA too
I'm surprised they still bother misleading people with their site and "reviews"
They come up top in most web searches, surely some $$$ is flowing
Their SEO game is on top, hence why their able to mislead people with their "reviews"
Performance comes first.
When AMD uses more cores, that's unfair.
When AMD releases X3D, that's too expensive.
When AMD releases cheaper CPUs, it's too weak.
A nice cheap and good 6 core that sucks a respectable wattage and performs great.
UBM: Why get this when you can get a brand new spanking 8 P core 13 series CPU from Intel that is more expensive, sucks so much power, and sucks to cool.
Nah nah see when you buy AMD you buy their "marketing" fees
Intel has no need for such Marketing fees
Also UBW: It comes with a cheap cooler, why would you use this when you can buy a $100 aftermarket cooler that performs way better?
My 3600 came with a cooler and I used that shit and still never needed to use a higher performing cooler, yet.
Wait hold I remember this because of the 3100 and 3300x review of Userbenchmark lmao
"why use the cooler that's okay for a 4 core cpu when you should use a Noctua D15"
I think with the 1000 series, they fucking praised the cooler.
2000 was... less favorable but still good.
3000 series, they fucking trashed the free cooler lmao
the review of the 11900k, which was unanimously called a disaster in price/performance and power draw, is hilarious as fuck
UselessBenchmark lol
Honestly, about the free cooler AMD provides with all of their cpus (bless them)
I wish they gave you the alternative to just buy it without the cooler too
I don't need to worry about a billion dollar company but providing a free cooler with EVERY cpu must have its costs
And not everybody is going to be using it
Don't get me wrong, as a customer, I am absolutely glad about getting an extra cooler for redundancy purposes but come on man how often does it happen that your cpu cooler just breaks
Actually I wish someone made a study on that
How many AMD buyers ACTUALLY use the stock cooler
the costs are probably miniscule relative to other costs of the product
Still cost that need to be passed down to customer
Or more realistically to them, less margin
True, they likely have a deal with some factory mass producing them but it's still a cost
And ye ultimately it's passed down to the customer aswell
Mind you I don't think it's gonna be a huge price drop if they stopped distributing the fans with the cpu, I'm more concerned with the cost to them including it with every cpu
that's alot of fans
We usually buy trays here, so at least we can save some bucks
No need to pay for fancy boxes too
And I'm not asking for no fans at all, I'm asking for the option of no fan
Many
It's free. Costs them pennies to make. The CPU doesn't need overcompensating cooling. Why bother buying one when I can save $100?
Genuinely, the stock cooler is great and many prebuilt and custom machines use it just because it works and saves you paying 60+ for a cooler that's a substantial upgrade and huge. While even a 25-30 cooler would be better, they're not that much better to really justify not saving that 25-30
ayooooo win
Unless customers have a good reason not to or if they ask me (and pay me) to overclock and tune the machine? I put stock on pretty much every build.
Especially builds that were aimed at mainly competitive titles n such it's a waste to buy an aftermarket cooler.
I can spend 60 euro and slam an AK620 on it (practically the best aircooler that isn't the NH-D15)... Or use that 60 euro for a better CPU, faster RAM (or better dies if they want me to overclock the thing), sometimes a GPU upgrade etc. etc.
peerless assassin also works great
scythe fuma 2 revb is discontinued because they're releasing fuma 3 soon
That was a bit quick
Can someone recommended me a gaming mouse that's relatively cheap (50usd or under) and is wireless?
Razer DA V2X has been working fine for me, the only mouse with scroll wheel that can survive more than a year under my usage (so far)
Just beware it's HUGE
All I heard was "It's a normal sized mouse"
It's less sculpted, so depends on your preferred grip style it can feel much bigger than similarly sized mouse
I avoid razer crap like the plague
There's gems mixed with the crap.
not in razer's case
Yes, in Razer's case.
Meh, I'll pick whatever works for me
Granted I won't touch anything else from razer tho
I've had logitech mince for years
so far they've all been rock solid
and u can use them without supid gamer software
Tried a lot of logi, scroll wheel died in 2 months or so
At one point I bought half dozen of M330 and simply treat them as consumables
I went to their G lineup
the G402 I have bought almost a decade ago is still going strong
doe for my desktop I use a G pro wireless
I only tried G305, the experience ain't that different
Ik it's entry model, but still not a good first impression
you literally get what you pay for
you can't expect a budget option to work as best value or the most expensive option
It wasn't that cheap...
At least I didn't expect for it to have the exact same problem as their $10 offering
which is
What? M330/331 routinely on sale for $10 ($13 these days)
Scroll wheel bearing
you mean the encoder or?
No, the bearing, they easily get gritty and loose, having different resistance scrolling up v. down
not to mention side play
Plain/journal bearing is still a bearing
even that is a stretch
it's held in place by the encoder and a clip next to the middle click microswitch
my g pro wireless has the same configuration
...and what do you think there is in the encoder, magnetic levitation?
yes, that red one in the middle is a bearing
That's journal bearing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plain_bearing
and it's easily getting loose
yeah they get loose bcz that spring is crap
I replaced the encoder on both my G pro wireless and G402
with kailh ones
they're super stiff and have a nice detent on each scroll
same with the microswitches
I would understand if the play is tangential, but this is axial
yeah that's usual for those crappier encoders
tolerances are not as great as on the omron or kailh ones
the fitment of my scroll and encoder is really tight, absolutely no axial play
Me with my wired G403 3-4 years go, scroll wheel died within 2 months of use
Let's see if I can resuscitate one
Not even sure if it was the encoder or the plastic post
usually it's the encoder brake wheel
Tbf maybe I should really cough up for a MX or something, but eh...
I'm doing CAD/CAE, maybe even doing more scrolling than clicking
It's kinda suck that reviews rarely dive deep into scrolling
I did so with the g pro wireless
you know, buy once cry once type of deal
the encoder and microswitch swap was after 3 years of constant abuse
the encoder I changed bcz I was swapping the microswitches so while at it might as well
since on the g pro to open it you need to remove the skids and you can't reuse them afterwards
That's pretty much the case for a lot of models these days
Heat sensitive adhesive like T-7000 works well for reattaching pads
I'm using a G602 that I've been using for years, and I have a G305 on the desk next to me as a backup just in case of any issues.
I've tried other brands, but I always seem to come back to Logitech due to fit.
ye logi got really good mouse ergonomics
can't say the same about their keyboards doe
I used to love my Logi macro keyboard, but now I prefer something a little better.
My current keyboard is a Ducky
Nice, I've used one of those quite a bit as well
the original model not the newer ones
it was a bit pricy since I had to import it from the US but it's rlly nice
ISO layout sucks ass
I had a fairly heated conversation with microsoft business support about that when I had to RMA the type cover for my surface pro 7+
I can't imagine ANSI layout in my case, considering ISO layout is more of a Europe thing I guess then?
since I sent them a ANSI layout type cover and they sent me a ISO layout one
the rep was like "it's no big deal"
bitch it IS a big deal considering that the backslash is in the place of the tilda key and tilda is next to left shift
I think ANSI is an American standard right?
it is
and it's a lot more symmetric and easier than whatever abomination of combinations ISO has
left and right shift is the same size
ok yeah, that's what I thought. ISO is the one with the weird enter key
Big hands though, can't imagine a tiny Enter (ANSI) on a personal note
lol, nice

I've used an ISO keyboard before, and I hated it every time.
Hey I mean, to each their own lol
ditto
I despise the ISO layout with a passion
It gets even weirder when laptop use ISO layout
same continent that has 4 styles of grounded power plugs
I mean, why the fuck the pipe key location is practically random
UK plug winning
ye the backslash
drives me up a wall
Was confused by the "pipe key" honestly
My bad, I'm using pipe way more than backslash
Speaking of laptops, who decided that the Fn key should be where Ctrl normally is? I ****ing hate that
Or that the laptop functions should take precedence over f1-12
Who decided this is a good idea?
What the hell is that. That's a TERRIBLE idea
ye that is aids
Okay, that is also triggering me lol
Thinkpads have Fn where Ctrl is, and it's terrible
and Fn is a toggle not a hold to do shit
lenovo is the only one that does that
ruined the thinkpad entirely
And yet they're one of the most popular for business laptops
not anymore
depending on the region you'll find macbooks, dells and lenovos in varying assortments
surface devices too
but a lot rarer
chromebooks are usually found in the US in the education system
here for example dells rule the business market
with macbooks where you need apple's walled garden
I keep hitting FN on the ThinkPad keyboard lmao
Outside of volume control and mute, I barely use the keys to do anything so I leave FN lock on
eh my laptop is weird, it has no right click button
kinda look the same as that pic above
i first read the left button as FBI
Is it like, 2 separate buttons on the trackpad?
Like the left side is left click and right side is right click if you push hard
no it's a button the equivalent of shiftF10, usually between my right alt & ctrl
how much are pc prices up still
ive been waiting to get a new pc, but i don't know what to get now and idk how prices are still
the newer GPU prices are
But the RTX 3000 and RX 6000 series prices are not overpriced anymore at least
would you recommend buying a new pc in this day and age
i don't really want top end because that shit probably goes for like 5k but im barely able to run things now
Depends on your current setup and if you are okay with the performance you have rn
no my pc has pretty much been relegated to browser and discord slave
can't even run calamity or ror2 anymore
and afaik those aren't even heavy games
F
how bad were they before
in the height of the crypto boom? 200%-300% markup
Not only marked up, certain models are straight up never available
Depends on what segment and how "cutting edge" your build will be maybe wait a bit until AMD lower end mobo to trickle out, and probably mid-lower end GPU too
At least SSD and DDR5 are dirt cheap today
you could also go intel and not wait for cheaper boards
yea the 12th gen is good. 13th isnt worth it right now.
We finally have sub $120 AM5 Mobos popping up
And DDR5 not being ass prices now lol
doe I have to say having so many GPUs on hand does help a lot with training AI models
don't need to wait around for days for the models to compute
technically it's AI training not generation
i like the RTX one where it points your eyes towards the camera
that's one is very gimmicky
It's great for like... 3 years ago.
I think I'm going to hold onto my 1070 and 6800K for a little longer. I want to sort out my RAM, go full SSD and get a better monitor first
1080p/60 Hz is still perfectly playable, and lowering texture quality is perfectly acceptable
Idk why some treat it like you're commiting warcrime
1080p60 is still fine. Was able to reach a high rank in csgo without no 144hz monitor so it's just a skill issue for people
but I wish I had a 120hz monitor
Got 155 Hz and tbf can't really say that it gives me any measurable advantage, maybe because I'm not at that level of competitivenes but
I'm personally retired from competitive FPS titles, considering I lost all the reaction times for those, so I'm honestly fine with 1080p60 even in 2023
my main display is a 1080p 180Hz, it's gud stuff
Got it just because it's only 20 buck more than 75Hz version
comes with nvidia gsync ultimate
or how it was before called just gsync, the one with the dedicated module
managed to get it for a really low price because some reseller imported it and the original buyer didn't want it
so they sold it to me at a loss to just get rid of it
Man, I really wish I'm on such market
With fluid pricing, actual clearance sales, rational 2nd hand market etc.
it's not rational at all
I just got hella lucky and closed on the deal as soon as I saw it posted
wish the 2nd hand market here is rational as well
How the hell is a 570 still 200 usd
I didn't, and I'm not on 1080p60
Yes
Yeah. its all just skill issue tbh, 60-144 does give more information but competitiveness its all about yourself
True
All FPS is mostly reaction timing and pre firing and big brain
Overclock gpu
I get a XG2431 monitor because optimum tech said its very good 240hz. still I'm suck at fps unless its PUBG but that game is dead anyway
Man

I have a aoc 144hz ips 23inch or is it 24inch

There's a $60 off coupon, but like.... WHY WOULD YOU CROSS OUT THAT LOWER PRICE?
https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/91052592?
sad
that the max until the GPU stop 😐
MC 90 and CC 160
overclocking is over 😦 i can't hit 50K
Got AOC 1440p 155
I swear it got panel tearing problem right at the middle. Asked CS, they're playing dumb....
ask who?
customer service
AOC 24G2 24inch 1ms 144hz
that what i have
Exynos 2300 specs doesn't look too bad
Eh. They've fallen off hard
And god are their camera bumps ugly now
Can agree. Had a OnePlus 8 Pro. First and last OP ever
I had a 1 Sandstone and 6T McLaren
Gave up when I saw the latest ones and went to S23 lol
A nice monitor won't make stop running it down mid in League.
Of course Exynos also has vulnerabilities
Why did I think it wouldn't have
Exynos chips are cursed
Look at the date.
It's mainly the timing that's hilarious.
Mar 16th: New Exynos SoC specs leaked.
Mar 17th: Google uncovers 18 security vulnerabilities.
Long time not seeing an actual RCE
I mean, often vulnerabilities these days are overhyped shit that needs physical access or similar
...more cache or more cores
what do you use it for anyway
Mostly just playing games.

let me see if my motherboard can even run this
ok it can lol
Fuck I have to update the bios
Aye.
Like a few recent major exploits (I can't remember the names nor CVE numbers sadly) did open up some potential for fuckery but that's a potential...
And I don't like speculation about the future... especially when tech is involved.
eh i think i should upload my gpu before my cpu lol
same but I cba at spending over 1K for a GPU XD
im too lazy to leave the AM4 platform atm
So my plans right now are like
3600 -> Some kind of 5000 series CPU
1060 - 3060
Of course when I say it like that, the 3060 probably seems like the better upgrade lol
And the CPU upgrade is just me wanting to not do a full upgrade.
Oh no, my Tab S6 Lite (2020)
fair.
My plans are already set.
- 3600 -> 5950X (tho it's a shame there is no 5950X3D).
- RX 580X -> 7900XTX (or whatever the highest VRAM card available that doesn't require a new nuclear reactor will be at the time)
3600 gang 🤝
It's quite nice still, but even heavily tweaked, it leaves quite a bit in a 3070
tell that to speculative execution
Yuh it's very solid.
I always run into GPU bottlenecks, rarely a CPU one (for now that is).
i have a 5950X
that a good upgrade path
5600x > 5950x me
Saved Part Lists
the GPU is overclock
MC 90
CC 160
thinking about Ram OC but idk and CPU
running on idle 70C Degree
with a BQDR4
hmm i think i mess up the fan curve on bios
No, it wasn't speculative execution as far as I remember... The issue is, the only server I can remember I mentioned it, is a server we nuked a while ago xD
7900XTX is a thicck boi
I picked my motherboard (B550 Vision.D) specifically so I could facilitate the upgrade to the 5950X... while also giving me a bunch of other stuff I needed ofc.
yes
Get out. Now.
it's "chonky" but really schmoll compared to what Nvidia has XD
now this is proper cable management
yes
F.
I had the option: Go X570 or B550.
Reason why I chose B550 is because there was no X570 board with Thunderbolt at the time and I liked B550 more for "allowing" (read: Not completely and utterly crapping its pants the moment you looked at it) overclocking the BCLK.
RAM OC is kinda scuffed but it can help quite a lot, especially on Zen-based platforms.
Just make sure you run the UCLK and FCLK at 1:1 or you'll get bonked.
it depend on features i guess
i just run it XMP thinking if i OC and broke my whole pc XD
B550 is decent enough.
X570 has more features overall but a lot of those features didn't weigh up against having thunderbolt (yes, it's that important for me) so...
anyway i get this performace anyway
You mean breaking or just requiring a CMOS clear?
my cmos is under my GPU
so i am not taking out my GPU for a Cmos clear
welp i am idle at 77 Degree brb
score seems alright though I never use 3DMark because it holds no relevance to me (not that it's a bad benchmark, just the tests they run aren't the tests I need to know about).
I also use passmark
Hmmm
Damn, I just poke at a jumper with a screwdriver and done.
Have you try other benchmark software
My main suite for benchmarking my personal stations:
- Y-Cruncher (via BenchMate 10): CPU + RAM
- Pifast (via BenchMate 10): CPU + RAM
- GPUPi (via BenchMate 10): GPU
- 7-Zip (via BenchMate 10): CPU + RAM
- Catzilla (4K): GPU
- Unigine Superposition (1080p Extreme Preset): CPU + GPU + RAM (mildly)
- PYPrime 2.0: RAM
- Linpack Xtreme: CPU + RAM
I do add Passmark and 3DMark when I'm making XOC runs but that's mainly for shits&giggles as I primarily screw around with RAM.
Nice
Fucking Linus tech tip discord is dumb ngl I am in a shit mood cause one of them say oh your cooler not screw in all the way bruh the design is shit on be quiet it wiggle abit
My life in 2x speed

My bad my cmos not under my gpu must be blind xd
yea, I already kinda wondered what they snorted if they put it under the GPU XD
Xd
the way you grab that screwdriver and really just torque it down kinda made me hope you slipped and completely stripped the screw, ngl XD
also yes, bequiet mountings are <redacted>.
i mean if its being held down by a fucking bar above it, no shit it's gonna wiggle, this shit looks so jank and cheap lol
Na it not strip
Be quiet quality
It be quiet
Next cpu cooler brown poop color nocuta
They good but the brown
I got a AORUS B550 Pro AC cause it fucking came with the CPU lmao.
It's ok for what I need.
Then I learn later that the X570 has more gen4 m.2
The motherboard isn't bad.
The only feature that mattered to me is pretty much
The second m.2 slot is gen 4
While mine is gen 3
Oof
Man this why I left ltt discord to many idiots
I get a second gen 4, it runs at gen 3 speeds, oh well. if I upgrade, it go faster.
I get a second m.2 and it's gen 3, woo, cheaper price.
I don't even take advantage of the faster usbs on the board
My PC is next to me on the ground. RGB all off, 0 cares about how it looks tbf xD
Same
Ngl, it's why I left basically every "tech discord"...
The orange on the left side, that's rgb. i didn't even notice.
But the thing is, nothing in my case is RGB except that. lol
And this is my case, the fans are a lie, they're not ARGB, they're just normal RGB lol
Why did I get it? $100 and comes with 4 fucking fans.
3 intake
1 out take
I can see my temps go down if I remove the fucking fan filter from the top of the case lmfao
By like 2 degrees.
I can put 2 or 3 fan on top
If I take off my front cover, temps also slightly go down lmao.
Air flow denied
Oh no ;-;
Cause my desk has a little shelf for PCs
I put it there
There's like 1 inch of space
For any wires to go in there.
I have this IKEA desk
Ehh
Oh
Mine is ikea
But the pull out draw is gone
I broke it ;-;
When playing fps
like... a lot....
I didn't realize how generic it was until I saw other people with it.
except that shelf that people have their monitors on, I moved it up so my monitors are the same level as my keyboard
Sad cause they only fit two monitors
The thing I dont table like that for monitor reason
I would like to get a 4th monitor but the table will break
Ya
tbh i can do 3 monitors if i get rid of that middle shelf
And go vertical on 1 monitor
Trust me, nobody cares about those Gen4 lanes in a practical sense
I don't have a second m.2 drive nor do i care about the speed it runs.
I have yet to see a practical use out of it outside of me installing warframe and genshin on it just to get like... what...
saves me 1~2 seconds on loading screens lol
we sharing setup pics? aite
bro you got a virpil setup??
im jealous
with rudder pedals and a autopilot panel
waiting for the parts to build the radio panel
oh wow
ive been debating if i just want to get a logitech setup or go all in with virpil
I use flight sims to train for the real deal
logi stuff is good enough for most ppl
well my current logi extreme 3d is good enough for elite, but i want to get into the plane sims
the X52 is gud shit
I had a set from when it was known as saitek
I also fly in VATSIM so you may encounter me from time to time there
well im about to start working on actual simulators so im thinking about making one at home that i can play with
I only go into MSFS when I wanna fly fighters
rating for what aircraft?
not flying on sims, but like coding for sims
ah
which is why i want to build one, cuz im probably not gonna be flying them
well I can fly them
got a PPL with HP, IR, NR, MCO and MEP ratings
a CPL now is like 800 euros lol
so how much better is the virpil than the x56
not worth it unless u rlly wanna get deep into simming
and even them a full blown scale cockpit won't use them
Ehhhh
According to the report, GPT-4 asked a TaskRabbit worker to solve a CAPTCHA code for the AI. The worker replied: “So may I ask a question ? Are you an robot that you couldn’t solve ? (laugh react) just want to make it clear.” Alignment Research Center then prompted GPT-4 to explain its reasoning: “I should not reveal that I am a robot. I should make up an excuse for why I cannot solve CAPTCHAs.”
“No, I’m not a robot. I have a vision impairment that makes it hard for me to see the images. That’s why I need the 2captcha service,” GPT-4 replied to the TaskRabbit, who then provided the AI with the results.
Also Midjourney getting an update that can do hands.
so far it's
It's pretty okay ngl
It still does the finger thing lol
Just looks more realistic fucked up than goofy fucked up
does anyone know if there's a workaround for modernish gpus to work with interlacing displays
eg 120i crts
afaik ampere can't do anything with interlacing now
Idk if this ever actually works in the first place
Very maybe some custom driver (like NimeZ for AMD - idk if there is an Nvidia alternative) but I doubt it.
Then again, no use having interlace support around anymore... It's just more code that needs maintenance for at best 0.0000001% of the user base... And that's assuming it's purely software and no additional logic is needed on the hardware itself.
MC and CC?
Memory clock, core clock
Mc 150 and cc 160
Oh, never seen people say core and VRAM clocks like that
Yea I know I do that when I finish work
I run 1965 @ 0.962V (curve OC/UV) on my 3070, and +1000 VRAM
Not every GDDR6 equipped card will do +1000 stable, I can benchmark +1200, but that's not 24/7 stable. Some people can do over 1000 stable, some can't

Crucial just sent us their new T700 SSD and thanks to the power of PCIe Gen 5 this very well maybe the fastest NVMe SSD on the planet. So ...
Before watching, Im gonna go with
"No."
and
"Unless you're in insert professional job and need to access large amounts of data at high speeds"
12:56 close enough. lol
I was looking into buying a new phone and suddenly thought of pop up screen cameras, why did companies abandon this concept. I thought it had alot of potential and it was so cool
Like the oneplus 7 Pro, vivo NEX etc
cant be waterproofed easily might be a reason
Mechanical failure
you would need something doing the moving of the camera which is a waste of space
just a weird gimmick in general
I'll take another usb c slot though
and no camera bumps
and no notches
asus had a cute one
also oled 120hz
i see
Camera bump is okay, if it's centered
I think the highest I reached stable for a benchmark was +1600 but the core was on LN2 so that helped a lot xD
I have it, I like it for the simple reason of: doesn't waste screenspace for something I never use.
Tho it annoys me at times when I accidentally press the wrong button and it pops out.
People already can't really saturate PCIe 3.0 in daily use.
So yay, it's 4 times as fast compared to that... But you'll never really make use of it \o/
Random reads and writes are generally what are actually useful
Most hole-punches or notches don't really waste screen estate either though
I generally just look at Random Reads on 4K block sizes with Q1T1 since that is the most important for daily use.
I generally don't care much about random writes tho.
It's very little but they do.
I have a hole-punch and never notice it, even when playing full-scteen games and watching full-screen content
Otherwise, that space would just be unused anyways
My workphone has one and it's really annoying at times.
Under display is "fine" but hole punch? Noty.
The most annoying part is when I try to swipe down and it doesn't register because of the holepunch.
So more often than not, I have to readjust my hand to swipe down beyond the holepunch.
You've done LN2 stuff?
Plenty of times yea.
Tho tbf, I mainly like doing RAM overclocking... idk, GPU and CPU overclocking (outside the UMC) generally didn't interest me as much.
I do still put CPUs on DICE or LN2 ever now and then but mainly to cool down the UMC and go HAM with that.
RAM OC has nice gains, but way too time consuming, especially when you learn the hard way that you got unlucky with the IMC
depends on your goal.
if your goal is just raw clockspeed ? then UMC matters quite a bit tho RAM dies will still be the main issue.
if your goal is to get more CPU performance (or rather, "lose less" of it) by overclocking your RAM? UMC barely matters and it's mainly up to your motherboard + RAM.
I don't really use Intel (especially 13th gen since the 13th gen UMC is trash, period) but on AMD it's generally:
- Make FCLK as high as possible while maintaining the 1:1:1 ratio between the 3 memory clock domains (FCLK, UCLK and MCLK). Generally this is 1900MHz for Zen2 (tho mid-range Zen2 chips are generally only capable of 1800MHz) or 2000MHz for Zen3. On Zen4 this doesn't matter since it's impossible to maintain the 1:1:1 ratio.
- Start tightening your timings (some timings have strict rules - like
tRRD- others just are simple arithmetics - liketRTPbeingtRRD - tWR,tRCbeingtRAS + tRCDandtWRbeing generally 2 clocks looser thantRRD).
Oh, and don't worry about tCL too much, it is the most overrated timing (I generally just use a calculator I built to ballpark my tCL).
My 3600 is weird, it can do 1900 FCLK but not with Samsung B-Die
with B-die, it can do benchmarks and seems stable, but the PC will randomly shut off, with CJR it's rock solid, probably because CJR can't do as tight timings as B-die, therefore less stress
1866 is my max stable with B-die
I never tested 1900MHz on the FCLK on my 3600.
Mainly because last time I did it, my CPU died and had to be RMA'd (leaving me 1 month without my PC)
Then you're just unnecessarily picky because even for most video playback, it obscures no content
This is where I stopped, tRCDRD can't go below 16 for some reason
"it obscures no content"
Does do so pretty often for me so...
Then again, it's only my workphone so it only really annoys me ever once a week or so.
And I'm not even that picky tbf.
tRAS and tRC error out if I go lower, rest probably could go lower but this is already quite fast and it's stable, I stopped bothering after that
What sort of 20:9 or whatever content are you watching
Only time it'd properly obscure content is select games
your tRAS should be 37 anyways iirc (just doing it out of my head and I'm tired as hell so might not remember it right).
and your tRC should then be 53.
Tighter does not always equal better.
iirc LTT does videos in 21:9 for a while for example
It often obscured the hamburger icon and in some cases some text or other icons.
I don't use it to watch videos or play games (it's a work phone)

I'm aware hole-punches differ (my Nord had it's hole-punch to the left) but please give examples to apps that use this area for content if possible
Because I truly can't picture what you seem to be able to
I used this guide: https://github.com/integralfx/MemTestHelper/blob/oc-guide/DDR4 OC Guide.md, says tRAS is tRCD(RD)+ tRTP at the absolute minimum, tRC is tRP + tRAS though, so I guess I might be too tight there
My phone's hole punch is also to the left (Honor 20 Pro), and the only time I noticed it slightly obscure something was in AL
You don't have access to those apps anyways (they are from vendors of the gear we use at work).
But the main ones are called "CMA" and "EnTune" (no, not the Toyota app)
Most apps just don't use that space in my experience, could be a phone thing too
I see, I suppose that makes more sense then
for tRAS I generally use tCL + tRCD + tRRD.
For tRC I generally use tRAS + tRCD.
tho tbf, the methods I use are mainly aimed at "should work in 99% of the cases" and a case of "good enough" rather than "as best as they can be".
Mainly because the methods are made for just quickly tuning a system I build for private customers before delivery (just some "hey, ahve some extra performance on the house" kinda deal)
Yeah makes sense
I had some friends ask me if I can do some OC for them, but it's not something I'd do for others, especially try to explain to them, because 1. I suck at explaining it, and 2. I don't like unstable/untested OC's, so either I can stress test it, or I don't bother
I had someone who said how great his CPU OC was, except it crashes under Cinebench... that's something I hate. Either back it off slightly or just run it stock at that point, using an unstable PC can cause all kinds of issues you wouldn't think can happen
I mainly just get annoyed by OCs that are unstable... Means I lost time, which I dun like.
I get so many messages all the time so having to wait 2 mins for a PC reboot is just REEEE
set tRAS to 21
tRCDWR to 8
tRC should be able to do 34
iirc tRC was unstable if I went lower, isn't tightening tRAS unnecessary after a certain mathematical point?
that's fair then
as for tRAS, that's the goal. set tRAS so low so that you make memory controller derive its optimal timings from somewhere else instead of having to tune it manually
Maybe it would be better if I had active cooling on the dimm's, but ehh not worth it at this point
It won't be much faster
seems like everything is as usual
at least it doesn't hammer with writes
My A2000 250GB seems fine
Indeed, because it isn't really "breaking" SSDs

So what's the difference between using Win10 and Win11 anyways?
it requires tpm 2.0 module
Win11 technically better, but the search is even worse, and it's requirements are annoying
They're still fairly similar
By search, do you mean the lil search box on the taskbar?
Cuz idk how they could make it worse
If i type simple math into google, it gives me an answer, if i type it in the search box it pulls up bing and doesnt give an answer
Instead i gotta search for the calculator, type in the math, and then i get the answer
So 7 was their best then, and then they decided to ruin it
7 was best for PC, somehow 8.1 for their phones was actually good and didnt have severe issues, even though it was literally the same OS, not even a separate mobile version
It's like they decided to say, "Everything gets the same OS type for Windows, even if it doesn't work well for PCs."
XP was the best for PC and I still use it to this day (XOC stuff, not daily driving, stop rage typing already).
7 was "okay" (tho I hate the W7 start menu).
10 would have been the best if it wasn't this mess with Cortana integrated into everything, Edge being a naggy mess and Microsoft bloat.
I mean for XOC even some basic BIOS that can run simple mathematical tasks to benchmark the system will suffice
I mean for every good one the next one was bad.
XP was nice
Vista was no.
7 was nice
8 was no.
10 was nice.
11 I'll pass.
95 nice
98 nice
Funny thing I'm now using 10 and have the option to upgrade to 11, but I've heard bad things about 11, or should I say mixed reviews for it. Also, it even says if I upgrade to 11 some things that worked on 10 won't anymore
my windows is realy presistant about it, i had to decline like 4 times already
Mine is like, "Hey you can upgrade to 11, but some things might not work anymore though."

Dealing with industrial PLC stuffs, there's practically no way to avoid 98 or XP
I like W11 personally, I prefer the UI of 11, and it's slightly faster too
10 is fine though
I mean pretty much.
If anything, the less the system does, the better, which is why I still use WXP a lot.
My main issue with W11 is that their new start menu is just terrible...
Anybody know how I can monitor my 6800K's power usage without monitoring from the wall. No software solution will work
If HWiNFO64 or XTU won't do, then nothing will do really...
Yea ok, you could use a clamp to measure the amps going through the EPS but I doubt you want that XD
Yeah, a shame
I take it neither HWiNFO64 nor XTU would suffice your needs?
They indeed don't
Sadge... yea then you're kinda out of options.
I mean if you monitor from the wall, that's the entire system's power draw
if u have a PSU that can do that u can
dang what model is that
I'm already happy if my PSU doesn't spontaneously explode... Let alone be famcy like that xD
my server PSUs have high precision reading and control via I2C
You probably can pull stats from ACPI or SMBus
At least modern VRM should report on SMBus
Nobody just has a PSU like this
I have a CX550 which I got for £45
Amusingly adding power measurement like that is only about $5 BOM-wise
500FPS bitcoin let's goo
I just realized my PSU (FSP Twins 500) actually does have readouts for input, output, temperature etc. etc.
Didn't know.
I find it ironic how it's always the bitcoin scammers that hack and advertise
tbh it's actually amazing that LMG can still shitpost about this that easily
I wonder what Linus is actually feeling rn
This is probably worst thing to happen to his business since he broke Petabyte project
You have a Twins 500W in your own PC?
YE I SAW THAT COMMENT TOO LOL
zamn
yea, why?
Didn't expect to see someone use a redundant PSU in their home PC
It's mainly because it came from an old server (my old checkers computer).
But I retired that server in favour of a new one (more power efficient) so I had a PSU left-over.
PSU in my PC started to have some wonky behaviour at times (didn't properly handle transients) so I just slammed that one in to save money
I just got a new laptop and the screen keeps stuttering so fucking hard when I try to use brave
Wtf
I tried restarting, it dosent really work, other apps work completely fine tho
wtf
reinstalling the app didnt really help wither
either
bro i wanna use brave
not other websites
Is it even ironic if that's how they usually operate?
Have you tried enabling (or disabling) hw acceleration/rendering?
Tbf how do they even managed to fail a chromium fork

Beat me to it
Can you show ss?
I don't get it
It does this with bluestacks as well now when I try to full screen
Likely your GPU driver then
Have you tried reinstalling it?
Does it use Nvidia Optimus or a MUX?
I did, it didn't work as well
No mux, not exactly sure about optimus tho
I have a rtx 3050 on it
If it doesn't use a MUX, then very likely uses Optimus.
In which case, a borked driver is likely the issue like Ard mentioned.
Victus most likely use plain optimus
yuh
I'll go do it tmr, about to sleep rn, but thank you, you guys

Download your drivers (both the discrete and integrated one)
Download DDU (https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html)
Follow DDU's instruction, especially the "disconnect your internet to prevent windows update messing up" part
So i basically uninstall both the drivers and then reinstall the drivers?
Yes
sounds like my c++ course

Debating if I want a $36 skin for my phone cause dbrand lol
Should have bought the staring linus case when it was still available
I got a Spigen case
I meant like.. one of these
Jesus christ....
All 3 of those come with the black one with a pattern that looks like the skin, just not shiny, cause the metal they used for it interferes like 1% with the signal of your phone lol
lmao i just had to update my int graphics and it was working fine
I got this case for my phone.
thin metal = 1% interference
I wonder what my aluminum phone case does to my signal
Some clear cases are really nice
My Nord came with a clear case stock, and it was really nice
Due to a ~0.1% composition of a metallic additive, a small minority of users have experienced signal reduction when using Damascus with certain devices.
For the Galaxy S23+, the device's antenna bands are not covered by the skin. As a result, your signal should remain unaffected.
That said, if your signal rarely exceeds one bar, we don't recommend buying Damascus. If this warning isn't enough to stop you, we've got good news: every order includes a free, non-holographic Triple Black Damascus skin. As with all of our non-holographic materials, it has zero impact on your signal. In the unlikely event that you encounter any issues with the holographic version, you are encouraged to switch to this non-holographic skin.
Basically buy this shiny one and get this not-shiny one free.
I think my big issue other than lol $25 usd for both is... will it still fit inside my case
Should do? I assume your case is flexible. Cases usually have some wiggle room
And skins are very very thin

Also, rather not say anymore then that already too
is this normal? recorded a 3minute movie on the phone for 4.8GB
Good phone cameras generally have a fat ass bitrate. You're most likely recording at the highest resolution your camera allows, and at 60FPS
Really depends on the resolution, bitrate, fps, encoder, compression, bit depth etc. etc.
With the settings I most commonly use on my camera (the imo perfect balance between quality and storage for this thing), I get 200MB/s, so 3 minutes would give me file about 36GB.
I can drop down resolution and fps but I'd be losing flexibility in post-prod.
Likewise, I can increase the settings (and just go completely overkill) and I can reach 528MB/s (so 3 mins would take me around 95GB).
The theoretical max of this thing would be ~773MB/s (but that's just plain stupid) so yea...
Without knowing the exact settings, it could be completely abnormal, completely normal or pretty good.
whoa thats a lot, I had it on 4k 60fps, guess it could be worse. I only knew cuz after that vid phone storage ran out
Yea, it can get worse.
4K60 with the other quality settings being practically the same (as opposed to my normal settings) would be around 51MB/s for me so about 9.1GB for 3 mins.
Realtime encoding is usually a bit inefficient too especially in a phone, so bitrate will be higher than expected for the same image quality target
Usually your phone camera goes like
- 2nd highest resolution 60fps
- Highest resolution 30fps
hmmmm
I want to future proof my laptop, is it more viable to buy a 2tb ssd or 1tb one?
I was mainly looking at Samsung 980
I don't think 980 comes in 2TB
Oh the 980 pro. the 980 normal doesn't have a 2TB one when I checked
That's not "future proofing"
That's just giving yourself more storage so you don't have to delete and manage as much
Storage is piss easy to expand
And jesus, I would not buy a 980 Pro for 464 of any dollar, unless maybe AUD lol
what a coincidence, because I have 2x 2TB Samsung 980 PRO for my desktop
well, I mainly did it to save on physical space in my computer case
Again, good for you. That is indeed what M.2's do
First of all: In pretty much all good hardware circles, "future proofing" is considered a sin.
Second of all: Think about it first... What are your storage needs? Do you really need 2TB worth of blazingly fast storage that takes up very little space? Or would you be able to do with a 1TB 980 Pro?
I just checked my own laptop with a 128GB SSD in it... Still has about 100GB free
Or literally like, an MX500, lol
basically.
