lime belfry
#

it happens

#

speaking of which, Bearn also has an unique aircraft

ivory ridge
#

but

#

she isnt supposed to have 2 barrages

#

it's a different skill

spring briar
lime belfry
#

yeah on it

#

u can actually see it on her art too

#

it some sort of green camo paint plane

#

her barrage will also spawn the same thing

#

which isnt in the game because the french right now have 2 stripe camo plane and 2 white plane

#

none is green

spring briar
#

that's a Vought V-156F

lime belfry
#

hmmm

ivory ridge
#

technically im missing one but Napoli B was a bit too much for my wallet

#

for the same price of Napoli B i got 15 premiums from the santa boxes

spring briar
#

this plane

#

Béarn had these

ivory ridge
#

Bean

spring briar
#

in terms of unreleased planes bearn could get

#

Loire Nieupoint 40

#

Potez 56E

lime belfry
#

actually hard to screenshot lol

spring briar
#

Lioré et Olivier Léo 30

#

autogyro in AL pls

lime belfry
#

we should check every single carrier barrage to find hidden gear lol

frigid karma
#

Shoudlnt be too many

spring briar
#

blursed

ivory ridge
#

I can probably guess one without even checking

#

Shinano recon plane

#

the one that increases damage

#

actually

#

are we sure that

#

the first sprite that was posted

#

the plane with the radar

#

isnt york 2 first skill?

lime belfry
#

nah york 2 first skill spawn a skyraider

#

i checked

frigid karma
#

Recon skyraider, might have different sprite

spring briar
#

for Joffre/Painlevé we could get

#

CAO600

lime belfry
#

no same sprite

frigid karma
#

Also check her interceptive barrages

#

Whenever an Essex or yorktown launches yt2 provides them with an aa only barrage

#

Check those

spring briar
#

Or Dewoitine D.750

#

so ugly

frigid karma
#

It’s probably just some hellcats but sorth a check

frigid karma
#

Ngl

lime belfry
#

yes I got the bearn sprite

frigid karma
#

Disgusting

lime belfry
#

that the green one

spring briar
lime belfry
#

u said it Vought something ?

frigid karma
#

spring briar
#

vought V-156F

lime belfry
frigid karma
#

Alright nam

lime belfry
#

does look like it

frigid karma
#

Start looking

spring briar
lime belfry
#

nice so Vought confirmed

#

what the stats ?

#

that's not a squadron

#

and that's not a skyraider

lime belfry
#

frigid karma
#

Lemme check the CN

spring briar
#

manjuu pls

#

LN40

#

pls

frigid karma
#

Ah fuck

#

Wiki doesn’t have Chinese names

#

Off to bilibili I go

lime belfry
#

fuck I need to check the german carrier

#

Graf zeppelin spawns nothing

#

even with aug

spring briar
lime belfry
#

so that check out

spring briar
#

expected

#

no planes to launch

#

very accurate

#

what was your first carrier

frigid karma
#

lmao yep

#

CN uses skyraider for the skill name too

#

*description

#

seems weird to be using a full ass bomber as recon anyways

lime belfry
#

petter strasser spawns stuka TD, already in game

#

that checked out

#

moving on to elbe

spring briar
lime belfry
#

ok... so August seems to have a hidden plane

ivory ridge
#

one of these planes is the intercepting barrage

lime belfry
#

a bit too fast for me to see

frigid karma
spring briar
#

is it too late for me to ask?

frigid karma
#

that should lower the plane count a bit

ivory ridge
frigid karma
#

that complicates things

ivory ridge
#

it's cuz essex herself has a barrage

alpine onyx
#

I see Colgate-chan

spring briar
lime belfry
#

huh

frigid karma
#

then use enterprise

lime belfry
#

seem like August got some kinda of green camo fighter or some crap

frigid karma
#

she has no barrage

spring briar
#

CleveDerp manjuu pls

lime belfry
#

no not that one

ivory ridge
#

an empty slot just spawns

#

ghost planes

frigid karma
#

oh, fuck, right

spring briar
ivory ridge
#

so you cant have less planes

frigid karma
#

alright here's what you do

#

fill her slots with ijn or non-usn planes

lime belfry
#

use different faction plane

frigid karma
#

the interceptive barrage should be usn only so they'll be easy to spot

#

and run a CV without any barrages of her own, like enty

lime belfry
# spring briar ?

oh wait it is the plane, it just looks weird with other blocking it

#

so August has 0 new plane

spring briar
#

@alpine onyx with all due respect but it just hit me how weird it is that Sarcasticat is making this massive extensive "what could have been" list for the km but then you realize they didn't even get planes on their only carrier

frigid karma
#

we're getting a new plane, type-wu seaplane

#

wu means five in chinese

#

but searching type 5 yields nothing

alpine onyx
#

Isn't it more a collection of designs, that on their own could've been built

lime belfry
#

i got your back bro

frigid karma
#

it's probably something on ting an

#

i should refer back to that link

lime belfry
#

Type Wu recon planes

#

4 built total

spring briar
frigid karma
#

danke

#

where is this from?

lime belfry
#

here

alpine onyx
#

Didn't really check it in great detail

lime belfry
#

handy

spring briar
#

it's like being a machinist
you get 10 design ideas but only are left with one that is feasible in the end

frigid karma
#

im surprised

lime belfry
#

Elbe and Wesser spawns no new plane, just good old Stuka

frigid karma
#

they didn't add the fba-17

#

since those are huajia's planes

spring briar
#

perhaps I'm just not used to sarcasticat's vigor when it comes to this

spring briar
frigid karma
#

no

#

french basketball association

spring briar
alpine onyx
#

Yeah, you do usually discard the designs that are considered worse

spring briar
alpine onyx
#

But at least those are designs, and not just lists of requirements

#

At least, I hope

spring briar
#

I think it just irks me the wrong way that cat assumes they would've been built exactly to spec

frigid karma
#

yeah, that's fba 19

#

but huajia has the fba 17

spring briar
#

most of those designs would have never been showed to naval high command

#

think H-42 tier designs

alpine onyx
#

Yeah

spring briar
#

KW45

#

or whatever it's called

frigid karma
#

China
China

alpine onyx
#

But I usually just discard thoughts about them

frigid karma
#

just china

alpine onyx
#

Or give some dismissive comment

spring briar
#

I think it's interesting to look at those designs to see what they were thinking

#

but it wouldn't be right to see them all as possibilities that would've been built to spec

alpine onyx
#

And instead focus on ships that'd be at least reasonable to build

spring briar
#

yea

alpine onyx
#

Like 35cm Schlachtschiff F

spring briar
#

that's fine ye

alpine onyx
#

I like

spring briar
#

maybe I'm just jealous that french archives aren't easily accessible for me to do such an extended tree

alpine onyx
#

Sarc also has the advantage that there's a community large and willing enough to feed him such data

spring briar
#

and he can go to the US archive which has all those plans

#

on hand

alpine onyx
#

Like give me a German warship construction paper and you'll get the meaty parts transcribed an hour later

spring briar
#

they actually have De Grasse machinery plans there
I saw it on the website

#

sadly not digitized ofc

alpine onyx
#

Finding detailed texts and protocolls on French warship construction is a pain

#

And then most people will need to find a translator

spring briar
#

still haven't found the turning circles

#

yeah, from my experience
knowing french has helped a lot

#

especially in finding details

they were rejected

spring briar

most designs sarc is looking into weren't seen by most of the german navy

I had an Argentian BP that I wanted translated

alpine onyx

And then that Richelieu bp can't be read

there are crisp copies in some archive

But that way I can pretend that I am helping

I'd love to have a 3D model of rich

that would be neat

frigid karma

last time his reddit had any activity was..5 months ago, not likely he's still active

spring briar
#

speaking of french designs
I found out that the MN wanted to modernize Redoutable with 3x1 340mm mle 1887 guns
ofc it was rejected for cost concerns

frigid karma
#

but i don't think there's any official 3d models of richy from AL

spring briar
#

nope

#

but there is one for JB

#

and it is pretty good

frigid karma

yep

#

new emote, neat

spring briar
#

It would be nice if we finally got the ships that had this equipment historically

frigid karma
#

man i wonder what fucking drugs wg was on when they made marseille

lime belfry
#

ok I have checked every CV

#

no new aircraft except the one we discovered

frigid karma
#

good work

#

and yea not surprising

spring briar
#

Marseille is a scaled down version of one of the Richelieu prelim designs iirc

#

idk why they did it

frigid karma
#

it's just as a line it makes no sense

lime belfry
#

so a Vought, a Guardian, a Soviet mystery Td

frigid karma
#

2x4, 2x4, 3x3?

spring briar

it kind of makes sense
but they went with the wrong ships

frigid karma

i guess weegee just has a fetish for nelsons

nothing wrong with a nelson fetish tho

frigid karma

more guns per turret

remote monolith
#

alright question that popped out of my head, should Hirohito be removed from power post-war and the Emperorship tampered in any way, what ramifications would it entail for Allied administration in Japan?

frigid karma
#

well, that would depend on how well the japanese people would take it

#

and it's really hard to say, i mean, they did just watch their emperor get humiliated into a clearly-not-god status

#

but, there's also a reason the US really didn't want to get rid of him

tough quail
#

probably a lot of loss for not really much gain

#

we've seen post-war japan do just fine with the emperor in tact

frigid karma
#

The emperor was already a de facto puppet anyways

#

and so getting rid of him wouldn't really do much

remote monolith
#

would it angers the Japanese immensely if the Emperor is tampered with? We see that even today Japanese people rarely, if ever, joke about the Emperor even in medias that normally made fun of Japanese society

tough quail
#

a lot of their culture is getting manhandled as is and the occupation wasnt exactly

pleasant

you risk a straw breaking the camels back situation

But is it enough to mandate a full on armed rebellion

#

Especially in the wrecked state that is postwar Japan

remote monolith
#

that's what I'm wondering yeah, cause the Emperor is basically the Roman Catholic Church in importance, but is it enought to piss Japanese enough for them to totally reject the occupation and keep fighting

its probably enough to convince a solidly large group to start fighting

There'd be no way to move shells between magazines without leaving the citadel, as the transverse bulkheads allowed only for piping and cables to pass through (which I guess is what you want for below waterline?). Similar story for the in-between deck, which is also integrated into the watertight subdivision system, just to a lesser degree.
The battery deck (so right underneath the weather deck) had an ammunition tray that ran between all barbettes, accessing the magazines through hatches in the deck, so I would assume they used that to move the shells around.
Weather deck might also be possible if you decide to hurl the 330kg rounds by hand, but, ehh

#

But proof of good Italian ship quality

#

Contrary to what an admiral often says

spiral cedar
#

Lack of immediate water + fast burn rate is probably a bigger issue

#

Wonder how the sprinkler/flooding system for the mags worked

#

Had it been triggered quickly, would there have been an interval where it could have saved the ship

#

Or would it have been overwhelmed by the burning before it could cool the powder enough

lime belfry
#

How on earth would you react to that fast enough

#

Probably the explosion alone would stun everyone that isnt turned into spaghetti for a good 1 min or 2

spiral cedar
#

There were about ten seconds between the bomb hit and the turret going airborne

lime belfry
#

Then the utter smoke and confusion gonna delay any immediate response

#

Let alone stuff like seeing guys shredded to pieces or burned to charcoal isnt something that gonna make you react accordingly

spiral cedar
#

I’m not saying a human would react fast enough (that’s why automatic systems were later installed). I’m wondering if, had it been triggered, it would have sufficed to save the ship

lime belfry
#

I think it also depends on how many human survived the initial explosion

#

It takes quite a good number of men to damage control

#

And run the ship back to safe place

spiral cedar
#

Generally a sprinkler system can be activated by just one dude hitting a button

#

I suspect flooding systems work similarly, but I know it was sometimes reported to a higher officer first before it was done, so it may have been more involved in some navies

frigid karma
#

i'm not sure if a sprinkler system is gonna work fast enough to stop an explosion

lime belfry
#

How would that work

frigid karma
#

do we have cases of this happening?

#

water snuffs a spark causing explosion

#

in theory

#

but i'm not sure if a sprinkler has stopped a ship's magazine from booming

spiral cedar
#

The USN did trials where they roasted the hell out of a packed magazine under a sprinkler system and it worked flawlessly (as it had in civilian powder factories across America for over a decade)

alpine onyx
#

One of Bismarck's magazines caught fire, and there was no magazine explosion reported

lime belfry
#

I dont think the Italian engineers thought about being hit by a radio guided bomb mounted on a plane when they designed Roma

spiral cedar
alpine onyx
#

but they did have to think about the ship getting hit by some sort of bomb

lime belfry
#

Yeah but is there a plane that carry a 3500 lbs bomb in early 1930s ?

frigid karma
#

no, but

#

you have to account for advancing technology

spiral cedar
frigid karma
alpine onyx
#

The risk of magazines getting threatened by nearby fires or explosions was well understood by that point

lime belfry
#

Either the guy with the controller has god tier aim or his luck is just that high

#

The bomb hit too perfectly

alpine onyx
#

Luck, the Fritz X was relatively accurate, but that is compared to conventional bombs dropped from 6-10km altitude

lime belfry
#

And Fritz X is not laser accurate by any mean

spiral cedar
#

If a high explosive charge detonated inside the powder magazine itself you’re probably screwed regardless and only flooding from the attack itself can save you, but if it’s ignited by hot fragment attack from an adjacent compartment, or fire, or flash through some opening in the magazine, then stuff like powder burn rates and sprinkler systems can definitely make the difference

alpine onyx
#

in some testings they found that 6/10 of their bombs would land within 7m of the target, the other three functioning ones were within 14.5m

lime belfry
#

Pretty good

alpine onyx
#

and one was malfunctioning and went to Narnia

lime belfry
#

Considering Yamato managed to dodge alot of the medium bomber strafe

#

Radio guided bombs are worth it

#

But that is if u have the range

spiral cedar
#

And don’t have to deal with enemy fighters

alpine onyx
#

so practically speaking assuming the bomb works, you can guarantee a hit a battleship sized target, and will likely hit within the actual armored box (and not in the TDS), assuming you get to guide the bomb until it hits

spiral cedar
#

Accuracy in battle is probably lower, but that’s true of every weapon system

alpine onyx
#

yes, also those tests were at only 6000m

lime belfry
#

Better spreaf rate than BB gun

alpine onyx
#

but the system was rated for up to 10000, from which I would expect worse hit ratios

#

but in exchange being near immune from AA fire

lime belfry
#

Well Roma AA isnt the most impressive

#

But then again let say the He 111 goes against somethinf like Iowa by surprise

spiral cedar
#

No gun AA of WWII was effective at those altitudes

lime belfry
#

As in it doesnt expect that to come and drop a bomb

#

Then I would say it isnt like Iowa fair much better either

spiral cedar
#

That’s why the USN tried so hard to get 6” and 8” DP working with the later CL and CA designs

alpine onyx
#

the AA ceiling of the 5"/38 was 12km, so in theory can reach that high, but in practice that's a very narrow window to shoot at the plane and it's well outside effective ranges

lime belfry
#

If u want to hit the BB u still need fo get in the shooting distance anyway

#

Even for the B-52 which can bomb from like 16+ Km

#

Sometimes it has to lower to 9km

#

Due to fog

alpine onyx
#

if my memory is correct the bomb drop on Savannah caught the ship plus escorts by surprise, so there also is some advantage by getting spotted later than a dive bomber would be

lime belfry
#

I also argue that high attitude bomber doesnt seem to be rewarded with a lot of ship skills

#

Or hit

alpine onyx
#

well, because in most cases they didn't hit

lime belfry
#

If it actually works why not just B-29 every fleet

eternal veldt

lime belfry
#

If B-25 can take off from hornet it techinically possible for it to take off from Essex

spiral cedar
#

There was a more considerable interval for Hood though

eternal veldt
#

Main mags go up, no water + awful shell /powder room arrangement

lime belfry
#

So why dont we have B-25 as a plane ?

alpine onyx
#

Since the total count of aerial attacks on larger German ships (5000t+) was... two (or three, if you count the two waves on Bisko as two separate attacks)

spiral cedar

There is a 152mm magazine right next to where the fritz X, IIRC
