Main fleets go in the back, they're (mostly) Battleships and Carriers.

I’ve dumped nearly 800 stamina into it now and only got back 220, of my 4 ~200 stam farming block none were net positive.

You will get plenty of currency to roll the gacha. What will be the limiting factor is the amount of dock-space for your ships.

Powercreep is real, but so many older Units are good and available enough for oyu to progress far enough so it matter little until you get a new and better ships wich has, likely, powercrept someone else

Since many of these powercrept units where, once, top of the line they will still serve well and true until you reach a point where you need newer ones.

content is also mostly easy enough that you can ignore powercreep outside of doing chapter 14+ / monthly challenge / some meta fights

There isn't any specific way to get them beside 2 method:
-the usual way is by spending oil on any stage (usually get them via auto campaign)
-2nd way is via buying
-recommend in Shop like Guild shop
-or considerate like in Event Exchange shop
-or desperate like Daily supply shop / Medal shop/P2W shop

Yes I pulled/crafted on the special class construction and got lucky with that. Ok I’ll go with musashi from the exchange. I’m only at like 65 pulls though so I had a ways to go. And as for why it’s exactly like you said. Just a gamble. I stated towards the end of Guam and put everything into that and then I got luck on the new limited event and got Francesco early so I’ve been saving up and only doing the daily light pulls but being newer I still have that money itch to do the gacha gamble
