The protocore spending guide says to "Analyze PR1,2,3,5 Catchup" for the recommended section. Wouldn't that mean you have to research ALL the ships from one of those seasons to even begin getting extra blueprints, since afaik we cannot analyze blueprints until a ship is dev30?

The guide mean you don't use catchup until you have a dev30 ship . Then you activate the catchup and use those catchup prints to turn into protocore

which works because all PRs share the same pool of 300 (per season)

also it might be that you are misunderstanding what catchup does it doesnt make it more likely for their researches to appear

part of the issue is probably getting the timing right because BFGs are a bit faster
you still need Bis/Meck/Lion to run a oneshot BB comp though assuming you have raff gun + 2 meck guns
I believe you can get some fancy results out of Alsace/Lion/Rumey if you have any La-9s at all
