some is safe enough to consistently go through the mobs but doesn't have the damage to S rank the boss

I have repeatedly seen that pr8 ships aren't worth focusing on, which to me means they aren't that good and worth the prints. Happy to be proven wrong but this has been pretty consistent from what I've seen. I feel like the prints would be better served on lower series ships that actually see use.

Are you referring to dock space? If so then there is a guild upgrade you can buy to increase it. It's recommended to join a guild when possible as it just helps provide extra stuff

Other than that, only way is by purchasing it with gems

For excess AP, you can spam C3/C5 for higher chance to get most over valuable material from cat-node (yellow one on the sea)
But keep in mind to own 2 SR cat both lvl 20+ for actual worthy reward

If the AP is lacking, some people had trick to repeatedly doing C1 to meet Akashi whom would give more AP box
