basically all stages start at 100% and the progression is shared across the server, if you beat the stage at least once before it hit 0 you get the rewards when it gets cleared
if you didn't then you will have a mission to clear for the augment instead

XP is going to be slow in early game regardless, the only real way to boost is if you use XP packs, which are also fairly limited for new players

if you buy the lv70 booster pack then it comes with a bunch of T2 XP packs that can boost you harder

"Farming" gear in campaign isn't really a thing as the drops are super low but you will get plenty of gear prints of them over time but it isn't why we farm campaign stages

Siren Strongholds are fairly strong, they have 6 boss nodes and high level mobs. If you have a good fleet and sufficient adapabilities it isn't too hard to auto with a single fleet. If you're a newer player you'll likely need multiple fleets/to leave and heal and come back. They have very good rewards.

for the main fleet some battleships want the flagship/middle position for the best coverage on their barrage, not to mention it's the best position to defend against suicide boats

To be a bit more specific: For vanguard center spot takes the least damage and is often where you put a DD ship or whatever is most vulnerable. Left spot is the frontmost and takes most damage, right spot is behind and takes damage when moving backwards so both of those should be tankier ships.

In the back its just the flag in center that matters. Usually for battleship. Theres some skills that care if for example a CV is in flag position or specific faction but that shouldnt concern you much for now.
