It's basically get a ship
Then pay coins to slowly grind up the prints until it is dev30
Then use the catchup to get free BPs that you can then trade for good weapons

Lion should be using a 45 FP CL gun for her aux, Stagg for her AA gun, and you're using a bowgun on her which decreases her damage against light armor but an HE gun which is best against light armor

Trafalgars torps are garbage, AA gun is also not brilliant and you you're rather condfident in her not dying not using any defensive auxes

Why would you ever leave it at 3000. Even if you don't want to use them it's 1000x less annoying to pick the first common ship in your dock, dump all you can into it, and then retire it and not have to deal with the popup warning for 2 weeks.

I'm trying to level my subs, when I farm 12-4, should I put the sub in Attack Mode so that the sub can automatically move closer to enemy ships on its own when it's outside of the range? I find that in support mode the sub doesn't move

subs only earn exp when actively called into battle. that attack mode is just a small preemptive damage to the enemy, but doesnt earn the sub fleet exp. you can turn on "auto call" subs, so when your surface fleet fights an enemy in your sub fleet range, your subs will auto fight. otherwise you need to manually reposition your subs to another enemy. it can be a pain.

generic wise you can use 155, 155 Kai, and the more expensive option of Quad 152 (unrealistic), but generally using 155 Kai for your BBs is perfectly fine, they're some cases where you may have to use a more specific gun for something like world 15 but we have guides that'll help you on that

oh, also you can often treat the BB auxiliary gun as an FP stat stick
