For common ships I like to go to my dock, filter to enhanceable which is at the bottom when you hit the filter sort in the top right and then choose a ship, enhance button, and then the fill button

You can honestly use ECTL tierlist. Google it. Take it with a grain of salt as there are specific fleets or ships you would want for more difficult content but for easy content like event maps and whatnot almost anything works as long as their levels are high
