yeah crossfleets are all about what you want to make work. like NJ for example, she has a great crossfleet damage barrage, but she'll also boost your Eagle CV/Ls on another fleet, but only if that flag of that other fleet is an Eagle

so it's very mix and match for getting best results

if you've only got a handful of the crossfleet-capable ships to start with, that's awesome. take a look at those, and see what the requirements are for activating the crossfleet/what the crossfleet changes

good idea to help: copy (or have handy) the pages from the wiki for your crossfleet-capable ships, and as you're building your fleets, refer back to those skills and check off where and when you have fleets that meet the requirements

Gears either come in 3 rarities or 1

Say the toolbox, it comes in gray, blue and purple
So we call the purple the T3

For other gear like the regular quad mag, it's blue, purple, gold
So the gold is the T3

The quint mag comes in purple, gold and rainbow
So the rainbow is T3, the gold is T2

Why is this T2/3 relevant? Because that also affects the damage
A T3 torp does more than a T2 torp
