I think it’s best to choose the short blues and then if the char you’re building happens to pop up, select that as your priority. You can’t really force anything to go faster. If you try to sprint the game you make poor decisions. It’s more of a marathon that never ends. I think the newcomer missions are kinda whatever. As long as you finish them whenever

Every enemy has one type of armour, humanoid enemies basically always have the same armour type as their playable counterpart, in OpSi bosses you can check the armour in the window before the fight. For campaign it's mostly experience, also you don't always gear against the most prevalent, but the armour type the most dangerous enemies have there at times
