Depends on the reload that you can get on your subs -- it's better to fire four volleys of lower-damage torps than three volleys of higher damage torps, but it's even better if you can get the reload together to fire four volleys of the higher damage torps.

So which torp actually ends up being more damage depends on whether you have enough reload from cats and tech to get in that extra shot with the slower ones.

The G7D does less damage per shot, but fires faster.

So the "it depends" is "how many shots would your sub get with each one?", which depends on your sub's oxy stat (which determines how long it's around to shoot) and the reload stat (which will depend on your sub-cats and your sub tech). So there's no single answer.

But taking the wrong one means a bit less damage, it's not going to cripple your fleet or anything.
