You get fleet tech points by:

1. Collecting the ship (~20%)
2. Max Limit Breaking it (~45%)
3. Achieving level 120 (~35%)

-Higher rarity ships gives more fleet tech pts .
-Heavier ship hulls also gives more fleet tech pts: CV=BB>CA>CL>DD

Side notes:
-PR ships give more fleet tech pts than normal but follow the above formula with development 30 replacing MLB.
-META ships are considered a separate META faction. They give same bonuses as their non-META versions.
-Collab ships, Muse and little versions of ships e.g. Li'l Sandy, Clevelad and Lena etc do not give any fleet tech pts.
-Iron Blood faction ships receive double the normal tech points compared to other nations.

There are a bunch of cog chips in the rewards list. Once you start farming those little tech bonuses and trying to get a lot of ships to 120, you'll need every one you can get your hands on.

So I ususally don't go all the way to the end of the meta fight rewards, but I try to get all the cog chips which goes most of the way to the end.

If you were present for the first Tempesta event and got everything, and have gotten everything this event, you'll be short 1 main gun for mainfleet and a bunch of guns for vanguard if you were trying to equip them all simultaneously. The old heavy cannon is worse than the 12 pounder long guns, but they're farmable ... at a low drop rate.
