Volatile makes this so hard because you would really have to time the reflect damage well, which honestly would probably be really tedious. It definitely would be an interesting challenge, but I don't think I'd want to do a whole run like that. The malignancy I have now is Aggressive and it's fine, but I think I'll try for Sorcery Amassing next time

I went for hard difficulty bc this was really intimidating, now I'm regretting it. I feel like it wouldn't be that much worse on impossible

I never really do the weekly to win anyway though

not like I would have looted the hidden pouch out of the gate on impossible. I also got defy death super fast. for some reason it triggered when I wouldn't have died. really weird. shot up to 50 hp out of the blue

oh wait. I just realized what it was lol. I have the ferocity malignancy. the cannon guy did double damage. thank god I decided to use it

the fact that defy death isn't unique or grounded is pretty insane honestly

I like this challenge. It's relatively easier than others, and it plays with a fun mechanic. I also like that the malignancies are already chosen (except for the random one), so you don't have to spend time thinking which ones to select.

initial run, didnt feel ready for spine so chickened out so I can rethink my strat

there is definately a list of maligencies that it will never add...just for fun i restarted hundreds of times and there are certain ones that never show up(im guessing some could break a game depending on what cards you are playing with)

i think some might be hard to implement in the middle of a run instead of the beginning of the run (which is where offers are assumed to be given usually, in the middle)

for reference i havent seen : decked out, weapon obession, disenchantment, creeping darkness ( i think), simplicity, explosives, melchors touch, boundless spoils, faeborn, mana flux, eternal hunger, needy, scarcity, sorcery amassing) havent seen slow to act but it may just be disabled by reinforced

My next run was going to focus on max hp but I can’t even begin to wrap my head around your gains! 💪

Early steel wall followed by strenght in numbers. Pick up divine arsensal (I took a second later as I knew I had the campfires to get rid of both). I really farmed max HP with hidden pocket and utillity belt, starting in canto 3. And I got lucky with figmemted and recall on steel charge after I took greater int, after that I got rid of my divine arsanals.

Picked prophetic weapon and when I got a rune of persistence I used it to make a copy of my free painfield. Added figmented and recall to the free painfield and then made 3 more copies using the count. For the few monsters that required direct damage I used combo of bash and last stand. Figmented and hidden pouch to the bash to get enough wham to finish them off. Visceral Blow was another useful addition for direct damage.

i had a little sunforge but my history got reset at somepoont

bah I couldn't kill dante. he was healing too fast and he burned through all my defy deaths

got him down to half HP with tons of reflect but he filled my deck with cards

I'd recommend that others try one of the other bosses by going through the garden. I made the wrong choice there

Is it possible to get echo on Painfield for this challenge? I've been doing a frankly embarrassing amount of save scumming to try to get it, but I'm not having any luck.

Echo is no longer available from Shrines since the last update. It's replaced by the lesser-awesome-but-still-kinda-nice Recall.

I think the only realistic way to get Echo on anything at all anymore is with that one Offer that swaps keywords...

I used rune of persistence on 2 free painfields. after I left the battle, they cost 2 again

Why were they free to begin with? They have to be permanently free for it to work.

in the past, I apply rune of persistence to the copy of a card created by recall and it becomes permanent with 0 energy cost. it was my strategy for my best run so far this week

this has me questioning my sanity, but yeah I had 3 painfields at 0 energy cost and no other way to do it

plus cursed puzzlebox has been acting funny for me. it seems to use the "true" energy cost of the card now. like if I conjure a free copy of a card and use the puzzlebox on it, it transfers the cost but then the puzzlebox has the base cost of the swapped card

Maybe the pain field issue is also related to that somehow... If you made them free via cursed puzzlebox to begin with. Maybe they are retaining some Metadata of their initial cost somehow and reverting back

is it a bad idea to do the monster enchantment malignancy? is there one that's just an instant loss?

I almost topped my old score last night and then got greedy... literally. I fought a first strike enemy then drew a Greed, which killed me

re: enemy malignancies, it was dark justice I was thinking of, the one that slays based on enemies killed. that'd probably kill turn 2 but not turn 1

wtf... bolgar did 74 damage to me on turn 1. healed up to 50 then ended at -24. literally never seen that before. whelp that was my last attempt

what happens if you have multiple copies of defy death running at the same time? do they both get used at once, or will it prevent death two times?

every challenge I've done, the first run where I'm just messing around ends up being the best one. I just had such a good run but my card luck just stopped dead halfway through. couldn't get any rare+ cards and only had 2 painfields

yesterday I loaded up the challenge screen and it had an entirely different name displayed. I figured it was an old one so I reloaded the app. just checked the recent challenge names and it wasn't there, so I wonder if the next week is preloaded

I've already forgot what the full title was, but the first word was divine, so I guess we'll find out! lol
