This guide is intended to provide an easy way to beat the Faeborn malignancy on normal difficulty.

The Faeborn malignancy adds 99 random card to your deck at the start of combat. Normally this would put you at a dis-advantage because you don't know what cards you will have each combat. Early game you will be most at the mercy of the randomness of Faeborn, so this is when you need the most help.

But what if there was a way to weaponize Faeborn and turn it from a disadvantage into a a strength. Well there is, Shaking Weapon. Shaking Weapon inflicts 1 stagger each time you shuffle a card into your deck, and the 99 cards from Faeborn count meaning you start every combat by inflicting 99 stagger on the enemy.

Starting setup

Class: Warrior
Starting Weapon: Warfists (not that it matters much)
Weapon Power: Shuffling Weapon
Starting Card: Earthen Shield (again doesn't matter much)

Malignancies:

  • Simplicity
  • Faeborn

Cardsets:

  • Metaprogess
  • Catalyst

Key cards

  • Chasm - your main damage on top of shuffle
  • Stoneshape - your main defense
  • Sift the Sands - helps to shuffle cards back into your deck to hopefully draw the ones you want

Top talents

  • Brute Force - double the enemies stagger with every chasm
  • Brutality - turns your Stoneshape into extra damage

Imbues

Seismic shield - a defensive boost if you can get it Don't imbue Seismic shield it might seem a nice defensive to have but it's currently bugged and breaks the gam with this build.

Stratergy

Early game just let your stagger defeat the enemy. As you progress add as many Chasms and Stone shapes to your deck as possible to stack the odds of drawing these cards. Play Chasm for extra damage, stone shape for defense and sift the sands to swap useless cards out. This deck hits hard at the start of the fight but falls off fast as the rounds go on, so try not to fight enemies that can stall for too long.

Early on the stagger kills enemies before they can attack. As enemies get more health, you might need to fill the gaps with random cards. End game is having multiple chasms.

Too powerful for the game to handle 😂
Won’t draw cards and can’t end turn after Imbued Seismic Shield and picking up both Skylar’s Kiss and Solid Steel Talents.
Tried waiting, restarting, removing some cards, changing graphics settings, etc. Just too much awesome power 😎
I can’t wait to try again.

Edit: Tested. Imbuing Seismic Shield seems to have caused it. Avoid that and should be good. 😊
