#Main ssd not showing in bios and windows not booting up
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
there is a possibility that ssd has died. happened to my laptop due to long use under high temp
also are u r laptop fans clean?
Idk i didnt open it up too scared to do so
U should get it to a local shop to get it checked. Fans r very important or ur laptop will die soon without proper ventilation
Did you update windows recently?
You could be one of the victims of the new ssd bug
I see
My windows was up to date
yeah so you could be one of the victims
Put ur hand on air vent and check if air is coming out at high speed
To check fans are ok
these solutions are not going to work
first you have to rollback KB5063878
It did in my case bro
This a similar case
But can't say for sad if it's dead
Ssd*
Roll this back, check if it fixes anything. Then you have to rule out hardware failure, if you can open the laptop, put the ssd into some other m.2 slot and then power cycle the laptop restoring bios settings to default
If your ssd works, then it could either be an m.2 slot failure or a bios setting issue
Restore ssd to its original slot, if it doesn't work, you have a dead m.2 slot. If it does, no problems.
Another way to check the ssd's health is by putting it in another device
Do it in this order to rule out software issues followed by hardware issues
An SSD can fail because of incorrect voltage or poor connection or overheating
overheating is less likely to be the case because your cpu only supports PCIe gen 3, gen 3 mode will not run as hot as your speeds and link speeds are throttled
Any cpu can run above 90 degree hot if fans ain't working properly
its not about the cpu, the cpu will always have active cooling
90-95 is average for gaming laptops under load
Bad temp can cause hardware failure. Is what I was trying to say
Ssd damaged due to overheating
Is a possibility
I actually thought the issue was with rst drivers malfunctioning
It was so sudden that I couldn't understand what's the issue
I was playing games the day before and it was running without freezes
Try what dr bullah suggested
Ill try to bootup windows again from a drive and see if it detects ssd
Dude my laptop had 45 degrees max
I used tools to see the fans spwed and temps
Then we can rule out overheating damage possiblity
Try ssd in a different computer?
Alr
Its right under the motherboard
I dotn wanna risk hardware and I'm pretty sure its not hardware related
My windows ain't even booting
Is there CSM option in bios
Disable it and then restart
I dont have the option
Did u try resetting bios?
Also what r the options in under nvme configuration?
And sata config
Reset bios settings with f9 andtry
Yes faulty drive can cause that
Ill take it for repair ig
Best of luck
@silent cedar has become too 🤓y after his PC building session
you are not using it for what its meant to do
Only 1 512gb and a rst 29gb which Is no storage devuc3 for windows or any files
That's not the case for ssd failure its the bug
oh i meant if the max you got was 45°, you are not stressing the CPU for money's worth
Which one failed? The 512gb with the windows?
Yes

The issue with Windows Updates causing SSD Dropouts is WAY more widespread than we initially thought! Our drive is affected and its not even on the list of know drives with issues, plus our issue is different than others have experienced!

Also try changing the ssd slot
Damn scary man... What would anyone do in such cases... Not necessarily about the drive, but the data 🫨
the thing with this update is, it's a windows fearure update and feature updates cannot be completely uninstalled. 3878 can be temporarily done away with however it will reinstall at a later time
I just disable updates with winaero Tweaker
Unless I'm sure an update is stable, i don't bother
I was lucky cuz one of my SSD SN5000 is affected by this update
yeah same here but hoping for the best
I have a 970 evo plus and so far I haven't faced any issues
Alpha's 990 evo has been affected though
I have 990 pro and 980 pro, both are running fine without any issues.
That's good to know. My 970 evo plus hasn't been affected either
