i haven't tested the other safaris yet because i dont want to any more waste QP, i've refreshed and gone back like 5 times and my little guy still isn't showing up, so i have no idea where i am going. has anyone encountered something like this?

Yes, I can encounter pokemon. It's a total guessing game as to where I am on the map but I still get encounters/exist on the map

Then it is likely due to the image not loading properly. It is a common internet issue.
If you play on the client, you will not encounter such issue anymore since everything is locally loaded already.
