If you use + or - to change routes, the route encounter doesn't update when going to the route you got your last kill on. For instance, starting on Johto route 42, after I defeat any Pokémon here, if I use - to go to route 41 and + to go back to 42, the Pokémon that appeared on route 41 stays.
#Encounter Doesn't Refresh When Using +- to Change Routes

Good job @fading tundra
Here to help..
Pretty sure this was changed to prevent that one MissingNo. thing
In the past you could jump from route, wait for catch animation, go to a city and bug the game so it got changed to the encounter being persistent with the now side effect of being able to get an encounter at lower route, jump to higher and get better rewards
But no MissingNo. bug
But the encounter is only persistent when going to the route that you last got a kill at. Going to any other route still rolls a new encounter.
it's a side effect
I'm sure it has a deeper reason as to why it's the last route with a defeat
but that's how it worked post that fix. I remember reporting it at the time and since there is no real reason to jump through routes anyway to refresh encounters, and that you can click a town, return and have previous functionality; it was left that way
Broken as intended, then. 👍
I mean if it can be fixed while also not proccing the previous MissingNo. bug... Then it would be better 😅
