#Monitors Black Screening "no signal" / Fans Ramp to 100% HELP

Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this or has in the past:

Got my PC from CyberPower in April and all was good. No issues at all. However, over the past few weeks I've been getting really intermittent black screens that show "no signal" (as if I've unplugged the HDMI/DP cables out of the GPU. This is quickly followed by my fans ramping up to 100% and having to hard restart my PC with the power button.

Initially, I thought it was a faulty GPU - so had it RMA'd and CyberPower quickly sent out a replacement. However, the issue is still happening.

After googling, asking friends and even resorting to Chat GPT for help, I'm now thinking this is a faulty PSU, MoBo or PCIe slot. I have re-seated my RAM too.

When I say intermittent, I mean this can happen within 2 minutes of booting or within an hour to 2 hours of playing a game. It happens while idling, and just happened whilst I was typing this message. It's so weird and I've never experienced this before.

I resorted to checking Event Viewer and there are quite a few errors showing. Google seems to think these are fairly common and shouldn't be causing this issue. (See image).

If anyone has any knowledge or feels like helping, feel free to DM me!

Thanks

is your BIOS up to date

I believe so

#

how can i check this, quick? I'm pretty new to PC's

earnest sphinx
#

if you open "System information" and screenshot these 3 areas it should say the BIOS version

have you updated the BIOS since you got the PC?

No

i strongly recommend you do so

fossil pagoda

I'll look into this now

earnest sphinx
#

there have been issues with intel 14th gen CPUs - updating bios fixes those issues

fossil pagoda
#

Tell me if im an idiot, but can i just click on drivers and downloads from the link you sent

earnest sphinx
#

there's a guide specific to MSI motherboards here - i recommend following it if you're unsure

Thank you

Ok updated BIOS. I'll message here if it happens again. Anything else you'd suggest?

keep an eye on temperatures too - they could be playing a part in this

#

though it's unlikely because of it happening while idle

HWiNFO

Download either the Installer or Portable version
For temperatures, run in Sensor Only mode.

it's always good to be sure

I initially thought this was an issue, but temps seem fine.. Weird Ill download that and keep an eye on them. Thanks for your help!

hmm alright - i think you should download OCCT and run a CPU stress test - to see if that triggers a crash

i recommend running it for an hour - just to be sure that the CPU can handle a sustained load

OCCT

#

as you said the issue is intermittent so it can be a little more difficult to diagnose

#

just a quick side question though - is your PC plugged directly into the wall, or is there an extension lead (or similar) between your PC and the wall?

#

also - WhoCrashed might (small chance given the type of crash) tell us more information about what went wrong - so feel free to see if there are any reported crashes there

ill have to run the stress test tomorrow, as going out tonight. But will check on that.

WhoCrash can only detect crashes from a while ago that aren't relevent to this crash.

My pc is plugged in through an extension lead, but i can plug it directly into the wall - however ive never had an issue caused by extension leads
