is it a new pc
Not really I’d say I’ve had it about a year and a half
what are the specs?
4080 I9
is your drive recognised in BIOS?
Let me check
I’ll have to reboot pc so bios comes up again
Yeah my SSD appears in boot menu
:tada: Congrats @jovial turret, you levelled up to 2! :tada:
try and force yourself into the recovery environment:
after the MSI logo disappears/windows starts loading, force restart the system, do this 3 times and it should throw you into a blue recovery screen
How does one cause it to force restart?
hold the power button
It just turns it off it doesn’t restart it
It’s still doing the exact same thing
Black screen with a buffering cursor
Have you put in any new USBs lately out of curiosity?
No new ones but I have had to move my pc but it was well packaged so everything was then put back
I had a black screen crash when I updated my nvidia game drivers the other day though
Yeah… those nvidia drivers are busted.
I had to go back to February drivers, the May ones did the same to me, caused game crashing, always had to hard reboot, black screens and more. If you can once this issue is sorted.. I’d go back to March or Feb drivers.
Can you remove usbs and then try to boot? This probably ain’t your issue, but it’s worth a shot, although when I had this issue, it was before the MSI screen
Yeah I’ll give it a try thanks for your help so far
All good man. I’m not gonna be the one to fix anything, Miles is probably better at this. I just fly in and suggest minor things lol
I’ve taken out all my usbs it’s still doing the exact same thing
:tada: Congrats @jovial turret, you levelled up to 3! :tada:
Why couldn't it just be the simple thing
I'd go back to what Miles suggested and give what he says a try
Ok man appreciate it
Hey @last timber sorry to bother you is there any other suggestions I can try as none of the following had worked
is that when it stopped working
No I’ve used it for about 3 weeks after that no problems
The only thing that could of possibly caused this
Is the game drivers update
When my screens went black and computer shutdown
But my pc was fine after that I used it yesterday night
It just won’t boot up today
since the PC won't get into the recovery environment you'll need to use a USB with the Windows installation media on it, instead of clicking "install now" you can select "Repair your computer"
How can one obtain one of these
you'll need to open it, install it onto a USB using another device and then put the USB in your PC and boot from it
I have installed it on usb inserted usb tried to used it on the bios and it just tries to load windows again normally and doesn’t work
have you changed the boot priority
Yep
I’ve downloaded it on another device and copied it to usb did you want me to open the installer on my laptop because it looks like it would wipe my laptop
:tada: Congrats @jovial turret, you levelled up to 4! :tada:
if you click USB flash drive on this screen
then on the next screen select your USB
it should just install it to the USB
Yeah I’ve booted it I’ve selected repair my pc and it just keeps reloading in circles
Like a loop of the same settings
It’s still just black screen and not loading
@last timber is there any other alternative i can try or she i try reinstalling windows again?
it's probably easiest to reinstall windows at this point
out of curiousity, what drive is it?
It’s my solid state drive
I’ve now reinstalled windows and it’s doing the exact same thing
sounds like a dodgy drive unfortunately
what specific make/model
Samsung
Try getting a whole new USB and fully reinstalling Windows. If that still fails then it might be a bad SSD and you'll need to contact support
