have you considered upgrading to an M.2 NVMe SSD (for the boot drive)? they're much faster than SATA SSDs as for the capacity, that remains mostly up to you, but for programs i'd say you wont need 2TB and for backups i'd stretch it out to 4TB (given that this is mainly backups you could probably stick with a SATA SSD)

you have programs on a separate drive?

no, this is all on one PC

cprgbglitch :tada: Congrats @finite sundial, you levelled up to 2! :tada: cprgbglitch

I could get an M.2 2TB for my Programs since I have the space and a SSD HD for my Backup drive.

#

OR back up W11 on to a much faster M.2 and use my current one for Programs? (Current is - 2TB WD Blue SN580 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD - 4150MB/s Read & 4150MB/s Write)

back-up drives don't need to be particularly fast so either is viable (whichever is cheapest)

I could drop £95 for a Kingston NV3 NVMe PCIe 4.0 Internal SSD 2TB M.2 2280-SNV3S/2000G. At least Windows 11 would load even faster 😅

Gen 3

hat I'll do is just get an M.2 Gen 3 for my Porgrams and an SSD HD for Backups

I was thinking of maybe getting an external SSD HD for backups but I can only find HDD.

A friend told me to Crucial for the speeds

#

Maybe getting a 4TB might better got my Programs than a 2TB?

but crucial is a good brand

The Crutal SSD SATA for backups is - Sequential Read: 540 MB/s

  • Sequential Write: 500 MB/s
#

and the SSD SATA Samsung 4TB 870 EVO SSD 2.5" and the Samsung 4TB 870 QVO SSD 2.5" are both Max. Drive Reading Speed 560 MB/s
Max. Drive Writing Speed 530 MB/s

#

So the Crucial SATA SSD and the Crucial P3 M.2 looks better for me

#

Samsung 870 QVO 4 TB SATA 2.5 £279.00
Crucial BX500 4TB SSD 2.5 £203.99

Ok so I'm now not sure what to do. So do I get the new M.2 NVME and clone Windows 11 to it and use that as my boot drive or just keep my current one and use the new M.2 NVME for just my programs? 😣 I hate my head sometimes!
