Does anyone have any idea what this is? I’m struggling to pin point it but it’s not any of the fans as I’ve stopped them 1 by 1. It’s constant when my pc is in higher load but still there under lower load just faint. It’s a brand new pc

is that normal on a new gpu?

Could be coil whine, sounds a little like an impellar on an AIO too

#

Yes, coil whine is "normal" and not something you can RMA either... IT may eventually quieten down (if it is coil whine)

^ It is quite annoying just have to get lucky in the silicon lottery 😦

#

If it is coil whine you can mitigate/test by capping the FPS in most games or going a bit further by underclocking your GPU (I wouldn't though unless you know what you're doing! Messing up will void the warranty I'm sure)

Sounds like a fan hitting a wire too me - more than whine

heavy timber
#

^ check that too

#

Although he did say he stopped every fan 1 by 1

#

Look under the GPU see if a wire is hitting the GPU fans maybe (unlikely ik)

frosty meadow
#

yeah I've checked all the fans, no wires hitting under the GPU either. It does quieten down a little bit when I reduce the FPS

It would be a matter of gaining control over the pump speed and manually increasing it, under the supposition that the pump speed increases under load and makes the noise. If you can manually ramp the RPM's and you hear the noise then it is the impeller. It may just have air in the pump

#

Not sure what (if anything) you are using (outside of the bios) to manage fan/pump curves, but generally speaking the pump should be on CPU_1 header. The first step (and really everyone should have this) is download the manual(s) for your motherboard and check what the headers are and what is plugged into them

I downloaded iCUE and set the pump to extreme, it only went up by about 500rpm to just under 3000. The noise didn't increase at all so I guess it's coil whine, the pump itself got slightly louder but not the noise in question

#

I can hear the noise slightly now just in idle, GPU fans aren't even spinning atm, or is coil whine nothing to do with the fans?

ah I see, guess I'll just have to deal with it xD

#

ty for the help

heavy timber
#

Thats why it's quieter when idle and gets louder under load

frosty meadow
#

yeah that makes sense

heavy timber
#

It's unfortunate, definitely annoying just have to get lucky to not have the issue really 😦

golden temple

It may abate after prolonged use as it wears in
