#Can someone help with a reset on my pc not sure what settings to pick
182 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
If you're resetting to solve any issues you're encountering, chances are it'll carry over even with an install, hence why we encourage a full on windows reinstall using the USB
i have an i9 and 3060ti and im stuttering
Have you tried a DDU?
my friends have worst specs than me and they arent stuttering or as bad
yes
:one: Open the link below, choose latest version on the left, then click the Orange Download button.
:two: Open up the file you just downloaded, accept the license agreement and continue through the setup.
:three: Uncheck 'Launch FurMark release notes', leave 'Launch FurMark' checked, and click Finish.
:four: Leave everything on the defaults, select 'GPU Stress Test', and allow that to run for two hours.
:exclamation: If your PC freezes or crashes while running the test, or the two hours are up, let us know.
Download either the Installer or Portable version
For temperatures, run in Sensor Only mode.
so what is it i need to watch out for
While furmark is running, just keep HWINFO open on Sensor mode and monitor the temps on the GPU
If there is any stutters or freezing/crashes let us know
Additionally if we wanted to stress test the whole PC, you can slap a CPU stress on it too and monitor the two
does this look right
:tada: Congrats @sinful ridge, you levelled up to 12! :tada:
Yeah just keep it on its default settings and select "GPU stress test"
I'd say just run it on sensors-only
and then scroll down until you see your GPU info
ok i ran it
Ideally run that for a good while and see if anything happens
i ran it and it hit 70 something like that and the gpu hot spot got 88
thats 👍
Yeah that's fine
Yeah nothing is seeming out of the ordinary
i heard anyway
Please Note: Purchasing the paid version of 3DMark is not necessary, you can download the free version by clicking 'Download Demo'.
no
yeah
Just do a clean install
If you are upgrading from Windows 10, you may need to enable TPM and Secure Boot in order to proceed with the Windows 11 installation - please follow the TPM & Secure Boot guide below first.
:warning: When reinstalling Windows, you will lose any files which are not backed up to the cloud or an external drive - please ensure any files you would like to keep are backed up before continuing.
:one: Click the button below and download the 'Create Windows 11 Installation Media' tool.
:two: Follow through the installation tool, and choose 'USB flash drive' when prompted. Your USB flash drive must be 8GB or greater.
:three: Once the tool has finished, shut down the PC you're installing Windows on and insert the USB drive.
:four: Next, repeatedly press the following key while your PC is turning on, depending on your motherboard:
ASUS/ROG: F8
Aorus/Gigabyte: F12
MSI/ASRock/Cyberpower: F11
Then choose your USB drive from the list to boot from it.
:five: Follow through the installation tool. When it asks for your product key, click Skip - your PC will automatically reactivate. Make sure to select the same Windows version as you ordered with your PC, then choose a Custom installation.
:six: Select the drive in which you would like to install Windows on (you will want to install Windows on your SSD, this is typically a smaller drive), delete any partitions which already exist and then select Drive # Unallocated Space, and click Next.
:seven: Once your PC restarts, you will be taken to the first-time setup screen, where you can setup your user account and preferences.
he doesn't have a USB
thats what we advise most
ah
im thinking its a fortnite thing but its weird my friends have a worse specs
I'm honestly at a loss, the only thing I could really advise now would be the complete reinstall tbh,
could you get a usb?
Yeah can just ask them to do a windows 11 reinstall for you
and then see how it all goes once you get it back
It would be a whole platform upgrade
yes
so you'd be looking at a good few hundred for a decent upgrade
new ram, new cpu, new motherboard
I may be mistaken, but I'm sure they're both around the same performance
Really
@gray hill you know much about the two?
Why would you get a 5800x3d if you need to switch platform?
11900KF vs the 5800X3D
i don't know i thoguht it was better
Against the 11900kf yeah but it would be a bad upgrade
Ryzen 7500F + B650 board + 32GB
You can't stay with intel 11th gen, thats the best CPU on your motherboard
Either way you'd need to platform change
i know but if i was to get a better motherboard
would i be better staying with intel or
Tbh I think you would want AM5 for swapping in a CPU later
i was gonna upgrade when i sent it back
£500 ish upgrade I reckon
My mistake, 5 instaed of 4 lol
still
Assuming CPU is £200 (7500F/7600) motherboard is around £200 and ram is £100
or if you have room for the upgrade, slap a 7800X3D in there
+200 ish more
i thought that was a bad upgrade
5800X3D is a bad upgrade for your needs
7800X3D is the best gaming CPU on the market
7800X3D
5800X3D is the bad one for your needs as accent said
Tbh I think the 11900kf is doing fine
just try the windows reset (doesn't matter what settings you pick really apart from remove all files)
Yknow on the windows insider build they have a "repair this PC" option
should i try that
Its the fastest attempt at a fix tbf
how do i get to the repair thing
as resetting can take awhile
if thta dont fix it or help i will have to just give a wipe a try i got a lot of un needed stuff on my pc anyway
Type windows insider programme in the start menu
turn on optional diag data if you haven't already and press get started
yeah make sure to send all your info to big ol Bill Gates
yeah you just gotta login with your microsoft account
yeah
Once you've been prompted to restart and everything
you need to go to Windows Update and install the most recent one
ok
i can't find it i think ishould just reset it
Just reset it and see if it fixes it tbh
literally just remove all files
which one
Local
Just have it a complete clean reinstall, have it delete everything
and install only windows
will this make me need a USB you think?
You don't need a USB to use the built-in method of reinstalling windows
But the USB method is preferable as it erases any variables
ok i will just tick that i guess
oh wait it has the reinstall windows right here anyway
You'd ideally want it to delete everything, not just the windows drive tbh
tick both
Actually, untick clean data, that's a bit excessive
can't wiping your pc damage it or something
That's more of a "selling PC" kinda thing
no
ah just heard it did while back
ok im gonna do this thanks for the help i'll let you know if something happens
only D drive?
not C
I think it counts C anyway
Looks good
Yes
hey guys
so about my upgrade im getting the ryzen 7 7800x3d
but ram and motherboard
n ot sure
