im new to this but i want to start recording my gameplay to post with my friends (because for some reason we like to do that) and i was wondering how it works. do i plug the capture into my pc and could i then plug it into my laptop and it would record my gameplay? i would stram on twitch and save my vods from there but i dont know how that would affect my pc and my fps as i only have a single pc and monitor setup.

my pc specs are :
cpu: AMD ryzen 5 4500 6 core 3.60GHz
gpu: AMD RX 6700 XT 12G
ram: 16G

are these specs okay to even run twitch and a high demanding game like cod at the same time or could i use my laptop somehoe to take some of the work load off my pc

any help would be appreciated as i am new to owning a pc and any streaming and clips i did beforehand were on my xbox series X

So I'm not too versed with AMD CPUs, but you may encounter some performance hits whilst trying to stream with the 4500 and play a demanding game such as COD

#

My question is, what do you need the capture card for? Are you playing the games on your laptop or something?

Does AMD not have a Shadowplay alternative?

Yeah it does on the AMD Software

If you do use a second machine to share the load (Although it’s been a while) I used to run OBS on my Mac and stream into it from Xbox. There were a couple of things I’m I learned along the way…. Cheap HDMI USB capture cards give pretty low results (ok for basic but no good for twitch) I ended up getting an Aver media live gamer ultra… didn’t break the bank and was way better quality. It uses usb C to feed into recording computer / OBS and has HDMI in and out so sends it straight to your monitor too.
Never try to play only using the feed to OBS unless you love latency 😜

To clarify the capture card would go into your recording pc and you’d plug your gaming pc hdmi out into it and take the hdmi out on the card into your monitor.

But shadow play is for Nvidia cards

So you’ll have to try the AMD Adrenalin software one I’m not sure how to use it though
