#PC crashing suddenly and randomly

Over the last couple of months, when Ive played video games, my pc has crashed a few times if any impact on my desk happens, for example if I hit it with my knee from below, even if it’s not that hard.
The screen freezes and that weird sound can be heard on my headphones - then the screen goes blank and the sound continues while my pc is still running. It continued until I restart my pc from the power button manually.
Today, it started randomly crashing in the same manner but WITHOUT any impact whatsoever and I’m quite concerned. Any idea as to the cause and fix?

Do these steps and see if it helps. I suspect something is loose.

tardy sorrel
#

Alright thanks I’ll get back to you.

#

I looked on some forums online for similar issues and they also said something is prolly loose

#

Bro I’m scared of damaging smth by removing components

cprgbglitch :tada: Congrats @tardy sorrel, you levelled up to 1! :tada: cprgbglitch

daring moon
#

If you follow the videos well you won't break them

tardy sorrel
daring moon
#

You can yeah

tardy sorrel
#

How so

coarse mason
#

Just clean the dust off it using some compressed air or such

tardy sorrel
#

Will tissues work

coarse mason
#

If you have a soft, lint-free cloth

tardy sorrel
#

I’ve removed the screws and power cables and pushed that button down to remove my gpu but it’s barely loose

daring moon
#

If you are sure you did all the steps, pull the GPU towards you.

tardy sorrel
#

It’s not budging

#

In the vid it came out relatively easily

coarse mason
#

You have to pull it towards you from inside of the case

tardy sorrel
#

Nothing happening

#

It’s like it’s still fixed to the case

coarse mason
#

Can you send a photo?

daring moon
#

Wait what

#

Don't remove those screws

tardy sorrel
tardy sorrel
daring moon
#

Put them back

#

Those don't attach to the case

tardy sorrel
#

Wait

#

Ya they don’t even go into the guy

coarse mason
# tardy sorrel

Where the PCIE slot is (where the GPU connects to the motherboard) you should have a little clip too

tardy sorrel
#

Gpu*

#

So where r the fkn gpu screws?

#

Yeah idk which screws

coarse mason
#

So back to the GPU, did you unclip it?

tardy sorrel
#

Nope

#

Bc idk which screws to remove

coarse mason
#

There shouldn't be screws tbh

flat forge
#

Look inside the case is there not screws there?

#

Like where the PCIe covers are

coarse mason
#

Looking at how the GPU is, the only screws I'd imagine the covers are connecting with, are these ones

daring moon
#

That's the ones

tardy sorrel
#

There’s all these screws but I can’t tell if they part of the gpu or whether the gpu is mounted onto that plastic thing

daring moon
#

Don't unscrew those

coarse mason
#

You don't need to touch any screws on the GPU

#

you'll end up dismantling that whole GPU and potentially bricking it

tardy sorrel
#

Yeah

#

So how do I remove it

coarse mason
#

These screws

#

One of them will be holding the bracket

daring moon
#

2 of em potentially

coarse mason
#

^

cprgbglitch :tada: Congrats @tardy sorrel, you levelled up to 2! :tada: cprgbglitch

coarse mason
#

the bit above where the ports are

daring moon
#

Yes

tardy sorrel
#

They actually aren’t connected to anything

daring moon
#

You sure

coarse mason
#

Can you send a clearer photo

#

Of that area

tardy sorrel
#

Wait I’m tweaking

daring moon
#

Pictures

coarse mason
#

Please don't be unscrewing random bits kek

tardy sorrel
flat forge
#

yeah it'll be them screws

tardy sorrel
#

Side

#

Ok lemme unscrew them

coarse mason
#

Huh

#

Part of me wants to say that panel is hiding it

daring moon
#

No it's there

flat forge
#

Idk how many you need to unscrew but surely it's just these

daring moon
flat forge
#

whatever ones are holding the gpu in

#

Yeah

daring moon
#

The top one is a PCIE network adaptor

coarse mason
#

yeah looks like the two accent posted

tardy sorrel
#

I’ve removed the screws for every thing just in case

flat forge
#

There is a clip you have to push down on the motherboard

tardy sorrel
#

Already pushed it

flat forge
#

oh

daring moon
#

Probably went back in

#

Make sure it actually is

tardy sorrel
#

I think the thing shown at the end of the video is attached to the gpu not sure how to remove

tardy sorrel
daring moon
#

Picture

tardy sorrel
#

I’ve pushed it down

coarse mason
#

That looks like its in locked

tardy sorrel
tardy sorrel
tardy sorrel
# tardy sorrel

The metal on the case seems to still be attached to it that’s why it’s not coming out

coarse mason
#

It may push to the right

#

Its like a switch

#

like push it down, and it should click up

tardy sorrel
#

Nah it’s not this I think

coarse mason
#

That metal isn't attached

#

It's moving freely,

#

it's now just stuck in the port

#

It looks like this bit is locked in

#

It needs to come out

tardy sorrel
#

This section is pretty much out it’s just the section closer to the case that isn’t coming out

coarse mason
#

And you took out all the screws on the side part?

tardy sorrel
#

Yes

coarse mason
tardy sorrel
#

Yea all out

sturdy flumeBOT
#

cprgbglitch :tada: Congrats @tardy sorrel, you levelled up to 3! :tada: cprgbglitch

tardy sorrel
#

It’s just stuck on the case side

#

Not where that push down thing is on the motherboard

coarse mason
#

Do me a favour, take that panel off

tardy sorrel
#

Was just about to suggest that

#

One sec

flat forge
tardy sorrel
#

What’s wrong w it 😢

coarse mason
#

Just pop that side bit off, and send a photo

tardy sorrel
#

Yep it’s out 😊

#

It was holding those metal things down that’s why it couldn’t slide up

coarse mason
#

Ahhh

tardy sorrel
#

Yeh

#

Cleaning it now then just reinstall?

coarse mason
#

tbh I've completely forgot what the plan was

#

@daring moon

tardy sorrel
#

While I’m here are there any other components in the pc I should clean

tardy sorrel
daring moon
#

RAM and no PSU is okay probably

tardy sorrel
#

Alr did ram

daring moon
#

Then put everything back after a clean and hope the issues are solved

tardy sorrel
#

Yes boss

tardy sorrel
#

Everything reassembled and plugged in - realized how much unnecessary stuff I removed 😭

#

Anyways

#

Thank you guys sm for your help this far, but I still need to test over the next day or two so will get back to you 👍🏽

daring moon
#

👍

tardy sorrel
#

There’s actually a display I’m shocked

coarse mason
tardy sorrel
#

Rq question - my pc is abit outdated now and I’d like to start upgrading it; new CPU, more storage, maybe some faster RAM… where could I go to know whether what I’m buying is compatible and do you think I could mount it all by myself?

coarse mason
#

I'd recommend Amazon for parts, but I'm not too sure what they're like over there?

daring moon
#

You will need to upgrade motherboard for a CPU replacement

#

I would probably take it to CPUK for upgrades (You will have to pay labour)

coarse mason
daring moon
#

Ah

#

Riiight

coarse mason
#

I think if I remember its a part of Africa?

tardy sorrel
#

Yeh I live in Kenya bro 😭 shipping is CRAZY

coarse mason
#

How's Amazon like in Kenya?

tardy sorrel
#

There’s a few pc builders here sure I could import the parts and let them do the work

tardy sorrel
coarse mason
#

Oh.

tardy sorrel
#

Have to use Amazon UK then either ship it to relatives or there are a few companies that import stuff as a business

coarse mason
#

Jeeez

daring moon
#

Budget?

#

Nevermind - can't assist sorry.

#

PCPartPicker not coming in clutch

coarse mason
#

Shipping alone would be insane,

tardy sorrel
tardy sorrel
#

So a cpu and some ram wouldn’t be that much

tardy sorrel
daring moon
#

Yeah but a motherboard 😬

tardy sorrel
#

Ye ig

#

And it’s quite a big install idk if there’s enough expertise here

#

There’s always LTT tho

daring moon
#

Yeah you can do youtube, but just be careful.

tardy sorrel
#

Yeh idk if I trust myself and my motherboard is quite complex
