#is this a good choice for gaming
1343 messages Ā· Page 2 of 2 (latest)
yeah 100%
btw
its unacceptable it came like that
the times changed a few times
considereed it was sold as "new"
nah the amazon times change because they don't get enough time to deliver everything in one slot
trust me, I used to deliver for them
you get about 180 stops to do in 8 hours
stress
mhm
and I live in the scottish highlands, that's impossible even on a good day
oof
if we had that amount up here, god forbid actual towns
so the times on the app, most of the time it's the "system" that calculates that, expecting you'll take less than 30 seconds per stop
š
which, in most cases you haven't even found the parcel in the back of the van by the time the 30s are up
the cpu is £500 itself
i see why it was stolen š
so small no one will notice
yeah trust me all the returns are done via weights, aslong as it's within an acceptable limit, the return is authorised
if only IF ONLY they check.
they mustāve seen it in a terrible state when processed
from what I know, they do spot checks, maybe one every 100, or if its outwidth weights
they honestly probably didn't even look in the box
saw it was same weight and put it back on for sale
:/
unless someone actively puts in their return note "stole the cpu, ty" they won't really look at it, most times people just put "changed mind" or "accidental order"
Anyways, this will all be sorted!
oof
doubtful
Problem is the blame is passed onto CPUK isn't it?
it's a CPUK system, but it's fulfilled by amazon
dispatched by samson
Amazons fault then
smasnug
but now itās dispatched by cyberpower
smagsung
probably
getting rid of older stock/returns
I hate to say it, but it's a drop in the ocean for Amazon
I mean hell, look at that one guy that scammed amazon out of THOUSANDS by ordering expensive items, and returning it at the same weight, but with sand/stones
wow
and he was only caught after he scammed them out of like something stupid like 12k
š
when their internal system return was like "this dude did alot of returns, investigate"
amazon probably didnāt care
12k is pennies
thatās still pocket change
they returned over 200 items between 2017 and 2019
lol
surprised they werenāt flagged up earlier
returning a few items is flagged now i believe
this was probably what caused amazon to implement the new flag system
yea
but nah this kinda thing keeps happening, until recently I would've recommended Amazon, but for big electronic purchases, I cannot, I've had better experiences with Ebay
Depends
iād rather a desktop anyway
A Laptop 4080 wont be as good as a Desktop 4080
alright
yeah they gotta sacrifice performance for the portable factor
yeah
Amazon stole my £3k monitor once
Had to get a replacement, after waiting a week with no monitor, as they didn't want to send another one
i definitely feel bad for amazon
so many products stolen
just employees doing it
2nd time they dispatched it the delivery driver told me he had police tracking his van because what happened the time before lol
lmao
it must be the delivery drivers stealing products
what i said
it must of been
nah
I went on a warehouse tour once with my old school
Most of the warehouse is operated by robots
grateful i seen a massive 4080 tho
https://youtu.be/GdHYM7QT9kw this dude went undercovedr
Contains strong language from the start.
Writer, filmmaker and internet trickster Oobah Butler goes undercover at one of Amazon's biggest fulfilment centres in the UK, to see first-hand the conditions faced by workers.
00:00 Introduction
02:07 Undercover inside Amazon
14:48 Workers' conditions
18:44 Making Amazon's new bestseller drink
28:50 ...
Got like little robots whizzing along the floor
lmao
wait
i was watching this the other week
massive queues to get in
yeah, if anything was gonna get stolen, the delivery drivers are the weakest part of security
ain't no way someone is sneaking out of a fulfilment centre with a massive monitor or something
Yeah, likely why when my 2nd monitor was being delivered they got police to track the van so the driver didn't steal it again
look
lmao*
anyways done talking about this making me less hyped
iāve got the evidence
iāll be back tomorrow with updates

To be fair for the unfortunate luck you had Cyberpower might offer you a good discount or upgrade
I think happened with somebody in here
I had my first build from Amazon, i9 10900k and 3080, for my luck all was there
Just get in contact with them tomorrow, really sorry for what happened, I know is frustating but if you order directly from them they might offer you a 3 days fast-track service to compensate
Was that on the same listing?
yes
If so itās definitely a reoccurring thing and Amazon needs to sort themselves out
Yeah Amazon is just shambles
yup
Was that recent or a while ago?
20th november 2023
Jeez so very recent too
yes
Must be some guy out there going around and nabbing CPUs
Yeah it was a stupidly good deal
Probably thatās why
Amazon probably got told missing accessories or something, light damage
So sold it off cheaper
We gave you a cheaper price from CPUK, it was like 2700 for it
wasnāt i9?
Iām on mobile so canāt find it but itās here somewhere
trust me i9s are like borderline enterprise grade
you donāt want one unless you want some heating for the winter
Iāve got a 14900k and it thermal throttles like mad and itās on a custom loop
so the one i wouldāve had would be bad
Not necessarily bad, but it just runs hot
right
and you need a beefy cooler (240mm AIO at minimum but Iād go for a full 360mm)
and even then itāll run hot
but even then, itās a common issue with any high end CPU at the moment
not just intel
like donāt let me wave you away from it, itās a cracking CPU
Aslong as youāre not like me and benchmarking the poor thing to smitherins
lol
:tada: Congrats @digital thunder, you levelled up to 8! :tada:
but nah trust me, if you buy direct from CPUK, youāll be very happy, Delle had the same issue as you and CPUK was great with her getting a fast track in place so she got the computer as soon as possible
Unfortunately it all runs down to Amazon trying to fob off dodgy returns
CPUK quality checks them all, and they go to Amazon, after that itās all Amazon
estimated delivery is 6th of december
lol
early christmas present š

I have to admit that is a cracker of a system
Is the 2k the max you can do? If you get in contact with customer service Iām sure they will offer 3 days fast track service as compensation to what happened
Instead @mossy robin sorry to ping you here, can you help this man out? He got the PC from Amazon without CPU, this is not the first time happened here
Best thing to do is contact Amazon for a refund, whatever is happening is happening after it leaves us. If possible DM me with the Amazon order number and the serial number from the back of the PC itself so we can track it on our side.
I do believe itās getting collected today by Amazon

getting picked up today
i emailed support and they want the amazon invoice number and serial number but i donāt have it to hand
and when iām home i wonāt be able to get it
Yeah just send it over if you can, it means if the same PC is being sent to different customers, Amazon aint doing their job and we can slap their wrists
well i donāt know if i can get the serial number
apparently itās at the back of the pc?
if it's not pratical, I'd say don't fret about it, it's just so they could trace it if it's being sent to other customers with the same issue
i see
well itās already back in the box lmao
and my parents are the one contacting them so
yeah don't worry about it then I'd say
iāll let the support know
it's simply because this is happening quite a bit with Amazon, and they could use the serial number to build a trail of events
and see if amazon is flinging it to any customer possible
yeah thatās true
but unfortunately i canāt sorry
already in the box since yesterday
Theres often the serial number on the box that should be the same as the one on the PC will usually be formatted as 123456-123456
shouldāve booted it up and asked for compenssation
well im in school atm so i canāt check lol
oof
yeah
but i see cyberpower do actually do the same pc i think
just not in stock
Looks like the whole motherboard would need to be replaced on that unit now anyway
as whoever took the CPU out left the dangling AIO cooler smashing against the CPU slot and has damaged pins by the looks of it
I mean come on, if you're going to steal something at blatant as a CPU, atleast put the cooler back on
Ooof

i shouldnāt have to š
i just want the same thing!!!
Intel and AMD is actually on even grounds now a days, jeez, I wish I got AMD in my system,
Me being an Intel fanboy, I agree
Guess it depends on the game that video is kinda 50/50 sometimes Intel perform better and sometimes AMD
thank you!
i think a lenovo legion tower might be the better option
I'm an intel fanboy, don't get me wrong, but when it comes to performance, you can't deny that AMD overpowers Intel in some situations
there is simply things that each of them do better,

^ wifi in mobo
and you'll need those two big 160mm fans at the front to keep that i9 from cooking itself

we're slowly but surely getting under that 3k mark
but the problem boils down to if that mobo would let the processor boost to its full potential
that I'm not sure
it should be fine however, CPUK would stress test it anyhow
As someone that was a driver for amazon, a lot was talked between warehouse staff and us driver (learned even more when i ended up managing the company) what happened with your pc that you ordered, was something like this ( someone wanted a new cpu, but it is expensive, now amazon being a costumer obsessive, they will do anything to have the customer on good terms with them, so this person ordered that computer, computer arriver yada yada yada, took cpu out, and then decided to return it on the ground that it was bought by mistake, since that was the reason and probably he said he never opened the box (or he could have said that the box looked like it was opened already as it had clear tape on top and that he wanted a replacement) and since it was "a buy in mistake" amazon will never look to see if it got tampered, as in their minds they think, oh customer bought this by mistake and returned it straight away, so it goes back on stock. there used to be a big scam of people buying new headphones, and then swapping the old ones with the new ones and returning it to get a full refund. "easy money" as several said, if you are buying something expensive, buy it from the brand, the price does not even matter, as most of the times "cheap will come very expensive" in your case you had a disappointment, had to return the pc plus having you or your parents deal with amazon CS, and then having to get a new built.
Above all, the guys on this server will always be here to help, so it is always a good idea to give them a "ear"
Alrighty.
Few updates.
My parents rang Cyberpower and cyberpower think someone ordered it and returned it and obviously stole the CPU.
Also stated that Amazon should refund.
Could take up to 14 fucking days.
Absolutely pissed off.
And my parents gave serial number and everything.
Unfortunately this seems that I wonāt be likely buying one here, prices are way to expensive which according to cyberpower the memory and things in the Amazon is less quality than the ones they sell on their own website.
Deeply disappointed and disgusted with what Amazon are doing and that most things should have been in place at the get go.
Thanks to those who have supported me and continued to support me on this journey.
Mhm, with the price being around 2,300-2,500 Ā£3000 is too much for me to spend even know itās not my fault.
The problem there, is the fact itās very high end components that youāre buying, The GPU alone is most likely over Ā£1000 and with shortages those prices are going to go even higher, If you can I would highly recommend purchasing here, as you will get the best warranty youāll find, but obviously it is your choice, and we will be here if you do want help to configure a system here
And the prices with CPUK are very competitive, a 4090 being only £1500, whilst anywhere else the prices are hitting 2000
I shouldnāt have to go over budget for something that wasnāt me..
Unfortunately that is Amazon, As youāve seen from other companies youāve linked, purchasing those components are around the Ā£3000 mark
Itās just incredibly unfortunate with regards to the Amazon situation
Well, I canāt do.
If youāre wanting something more to budget, there is great options available, but with those specs it wonāt be cheap, and thereās not much leeway unless you get cheaper components which may be more unreliable
Bare in mind that buying a PC, you can upgrade it easily in the future
Buying a base PC and then building it up over time, thatās what a lot of people do, and it gets you more engaged into the process
defo not your fault, as the price was appealing for the machine it was, and if it weren't for someone else to get that pc before you and snatch the cpu you would have got yourself a really good deal, but with amazon it is hard to trust these kind of things, as you have seen by your thread, you were not the first, and most of us here have experienced something of the sort..
š
Ey just for future references we can't really have an opinion on competitors as that is going against the rules - I do think though that from my pure opinion that CPUK offer better service and they don't use proprietary parts so it's easy to upgrade, they are also more local making returns easier and upgrades in the future.
Regarding the 13900k Vs 7800x3d it's fine to have a brand bias is what I would say typically - the 7800x3d is the same performance for your needs and it is cheaper than the intel equivalent for your workloads.
The 4080 wouldn't be bottlenecked by the 13700k even - we can drop down prices a touch more.
If you run into any issues regardless of what system you picked you have a great warranty and a great team backing your purchase - but it is your build so we can put your preferences into account obviously.
A 13700K 4080 system maybe? This will make the most sense, and you won't lose any gaming performance as your GPU is doing the heavy lifting - if you went 4070ti, you would obviously have decreased FPS for this circumstance.
I am sure CPUK can give better advice than any of us can, so maybe ask for a build option?
