I clicked this... mashed a few buttons, but don't really understand what I need nowadays.

Computer I am using is ten years old and I had no intention of streaming, but as life changes, I was less and less a carer of family member, I've got to the stage, that I rather enjoy talking with viewers whilst playing and just before September 1st, I came along with Starfield, I got Twitch Affiliate and went all in on Stream Assets for Starfield.

However my pc couldn't run it.... so I relied on xbox till that went poof on me twelve days or so ago.... and I've been struggling to find motivation to stream, etc.... ack you folks know how it goes.

As a new streamer, what do I need? What can I do without. I have two monitors, mouse, keyboard and an xbox controller for gaming purposes on pc.

Where should I start? - What is recommended? How to keep costs low on a pension? I can say 4k budget, but that would be problematic this close to Christmas.... but with Black Friday, this could be a good time to snap a deal?

Thanks in advance.

If you look at twitch and find "Olgit" - you'll see stream is dedicated to it. Playing other games feels dirty right now, but I've tried mucking around with a few.

I’ve done you a high end build 👍✨

grim gate
#

Problem with EnViiii's build, is it's a waterloop, these do need maintained.

#

If that's something you're comfortable doing

thorny siren
#

It’s not a problem, just something to bear in mind.

grim gate
#

Maintenance of waterloops are easy enough, if you know what you're doing, or you can send it to CPUK and they'd perform the maintenance with a dedicated service

gilded fractal

ah yeah - I am probably not a good person for pc maintenance. lol

I don’t advise this at all, but I haven’t done any maintenance on my loop for 4.5 years and it’s running perfectly fine.

GPUs getting more power hungry.

grim gate
#

I mean even a 1000W is future proof'd

#

I've got a 4090 with a i9 14900k and get nowhere near the 1000W

thorny siren

I disagree, the 4090 can pull 600+ itself

#

5090 could be even more.

grim gate

what kind of 4090s are you looking at

thorny siren

ASUS ones hit 500+

With spikes of 600+

obtuse harbor

450W - 600W

Transient spikes don't matter with a good PSU

Just have overhead, like always.

1000W is perfecto

1200W best

obtuse harbor

Nope.

a 4090 defo doesn't pull THAT much kek

In gaming it draws less 😄

Power draw up to 683, spikes up to 780

I highly doubt anyone unless they're going for leaderboard scores on benchmarking, is gonna be overclocking a 4090

Everyone has their preferences

I know for a fact that is wrong.

I am sorry to not be blunt about it, that isn't true.

Can lower the PSU but for a few quid more on a 4K system I’d rather go over than under

600W is max powerdraw for non-OC

450W is base spec

I said CAN go that high

Some little differences from my first link - Pro Windows 11, thinking extra storage, one for windows specifically, hdd for starfield and ssd for everything else

#

I also incluced a stream deck and totally forgot about camera lol

obtuse harbor

I would personally not advise that, they don't reccomend HDDs

grim gate

yeah most games now a days, all recommend SSDs

you may have issues with a HDD

and at the price of SSDs now a days, you might aswell just go SSD

I remember something about ssd being problematic for xbox and the game starfield, so wasn't sure @obtuse harbor

Yeah that's potentially why it would be performing a bit worse,

depending on the USB, the speeds would be limited
