#Microstutters/Inconsistant Frame time

the closest i got to fixing it is capping to 70 fps but im on a 144hz monitor so it's super laggy
:tada: Congrats @royal nacelle, you levelled up to 5! :tada:
I'm not sure if it might just be Rust. Rust is extremely unoptimized and doesn't run the best. Does the issue happen on other games? If it does can you send us another video of it from that game
Happens quiete a few games I’m afraid, wz2 is by far one of the worst ones
I’ll try get a vid for you in a moment
I wish it was the just the game's fault but when I first it got it these issues weren't a thing it only started creeping up this year, and now it's got to a point most of these games have difficulty running. If I was to upgrade what exactly would I need to make it go away? So far i've already spent over £300 on upgrades this year alone to try battle it but nothing changed, so I'm hesitant to spend anymore money however if ik whatever i do upgrade will 100% fix it i'd do it
It's currently not letting me get into a game but having the same issues even on the menu there for u
one more for rust
What's the spec?
I get stutters on my warzone with the same CPU and a 2080ti unfortunately they're starting to age
I'd just turn your settings down and use dlss normally get a stable 120fps with dips to 70ish
that's at 1440p 34"uw monitor plus the 9700k doesn't have hyperthreading
yep
Ray tracing
yeah nah never had it on anyway
You could turn warzone down to like low everything an just play comp settings for FPS gain
i do that anyway
for every game
i play competitively so
Go 1080p?
always been on 1080p lol
i dont rlly care for my game looking good
care more about response time and fps
but having this bad frame time just tarnishes it completely
Probably need a new pc then, age has caught up with you
Seems so
Rust has always been a hot mess
agreed
That's why then
Wz seems to be hit an miss on systems
wym
1080 is more intensive on your CPU
what would you recommend
well I play at 1440p personally
1440p is higher res no?
fr??
yep
try setting it to 1440p
yeah
hmm okay
i do play stretched tho aswell
1280x1024 one of my faves
so would be the sub?
what do you mean by stretched?
so
the native
is 1920x1080
right?
i like playing games on a lower res
so lets say 1280x1024
makes the image more stretched
from a competitive point of view it makes targets bigger and more wide
making them easier to hit
like here for example
I didn’t really see an error other than the last clip
And the last clip looked like a ping issue if anything
because there is none
i was just demonstrating what stretched res is
what good frame time should look like
what mine looks like when i play in groups (most of the time)
I don't see anything wrong with the last clip and if I did, I wouldn't be surprised with the amount assets on the screen
Top left displays frametime
compare it to this clip
You cannot compare two very very different clips that present very different amount of assets and gameplay
but again, both look fine
of course you can
Rust is extremely unoptimized and you're playing with a lot of assets on the screen
Because it doesn't seem you know what frame time actually is
So you think its appropriate to compare 1) video of very little on the screen of you navigating base to 2) A LOT of crates/textures
Seems you know very little about how unoptimised Rust is
I wasn't comparing
^
And that's funny considering i've had the game for over 5 years
i'm sure you'd know more though
Everyone has told you the same
I'm trying to show you, what good frame time should look like
since it doesn't seem like u quiete know what it is
Yes, on a clip that is VASTLY different from the other
.
You were complaining about stutters, I saw none
if you'd know anything about frame time you'd know by the graph in that clip it's not fine lol
stutters?
Read the title b
b? wanna finish that?
Being on this server is a luxury not a right
okay?
So swearing or avoiding swearing is against rules
Create a thread on Rust's reddit and see what they have to say about frametime
avoiding the swear filter, you know what I meant.
b could mean anythng
i don't see because u interpreted a certain way that's my fault
Sure, sure.
well good thing i said b instead
right
not too sure why there has to be an argument in the first place
it's okay to lack in understanding that's why we're all here right
Because you got passive aggressive at me when I said I didn't see anything stutter/microstutter wrong with the clip, you're getting obsessed over numbers that I don't see having any impact on the how the game plays from your clips
then you tried to tell me what I did or didn't know and potentially calling me a nasty word.
Passive aggressive not at all? I was simply trying to explain as it seemed you didn't know what u was looking at, so I was demonstrating to you and you just got defensive
I didn't get defensive. I told you I do not see anything wrong with those clips, no microstutters. You then accused me of not knowing something about the inconsistent frametime (the time in between it taking to render the frames) between the two clips there, but again, very different clips with very different assets in use which impact the amount of FPS and thus the time it takes to render the frames. So then all I did was what you did, and told you that you seem to gloss over how unoptimized rust is.
Splinta you’re waffling on a bit here mate. We’ve gone through the tests to see if it’s a hardware issue a long time ago which it wasn’t
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oh6hamdxlN0 Perhaps you should watch this video, this guy explains way better than I can about what frame time actually is
I've been using this method to fix frame times, stutters and FPS dips in games for years, so today I wanted to bring you a video on how to do it yourself. This method has been around for years, but it's still very much applicable and relevant today!

The game is unoptimised, you’ll get stutters and performance drops, it’s really that simple
That's cool, but doesn't seem relevant on a different game 👍
Well the issue is the same, just a different game. So how's it not relevant
You seem to be getting obsessed over numbers. If you game runs well enough, or as expected like on Rust, then go play and enjoy
Well if it ran well enough I wouldn't be here right?😅
It runs as well as expected on your spec, with rust being so unoptimised
Upgrade the parts you have and your performance will improve! You’ve done a 3DMark which indicates 0 issues with your hardware
put in over £350 worth of upgrades that was recommended by you guys and it hasn't fixed a thing, so i don't think simply upgrading it will magically make the issue dissappear i'm afraid
instead of simply blaming it on a game, would be good to look into what else could potentially be causing it

Please ensure to include as much information about your query as possible, and ensure to include your order number if you require after-sales support.
If it was just one game i'd understand, but the same issue happens in other titles
reach out to customer support so they can advise you of tests to check your hardware
reach out to Rust support on reddit or whereever
Been there done that love
we have reached what we're able to help you with here
That's fine, the only reason I bumped this post was because I got asked to.
You’ve been told everything practical Solution on this discord before
because a staff member wasn't aware of the various posts you had created and asked your issue
Well idk, blaming it on a game doesn't seem like a fix to me but
:tada: Congrats @royal nacelle, you levelled up to 7! :tada:
The game is extremely unoptimised, it didn't run well on my 3070 either
A few performance tweaks and i'm sure it'll run just fine
I have friends that run this on a way lower specs pc
so it's not really about the game at this stage
Perhaps their tolerance for how it runs is higher than yours?
