A fresh install of windows will likely fix it quicker than troubleshooting

#

You will lose all content so please make a backup of anything you’d like to keep

Windows 11 Installation

If you are upgrading from Windows 10, you may need to enable TPM and Secure Boot in order to proceed with the Windows 11 installation - please follow the TPM & Secure Boot guide below first.

:warning: When reinstalling Windows, you will lose any files which are not backed up to the cloud or an external drive - please ensure any files you would like to keep are backed up before continuing.

:one: Click the button below and download the 'Create Windows 11 Installation Media' tool.
:two: Follow through the installation tool, and choose 'USB flash drive' when prompted. Your USB flash drive must be 8GB or greater.
:three: Once the tool has finished, shut down the PC you're installing Windows on and insert the USB drive.
:four: Next, repeatedly press the following key while your PC is turning on, depending on your motherboard:
rog ASUS/ROG: F8
aorus Aorus/Gigabyte: F12
msi asrock cp MSI/ASRock/Cyberpower: F11
Then choose your USB drive from the list to boot from it.
:five: Follow through the installation tool. When it asks for your product key, click Skip - your PC will automatically reactivate. Make sure to select the same Windows version as you ordered with your PC, then choose a Custom installation.
:six: Select the drive in which you would like to install Windows on (you will want to install Windows on your SSD, this is typically a smaller drive), delete any partitions which already exist and then select Drive # Unallocated Space, and click Next.
:seven: Once your PC restarts, you will be taken to the first-time setup screen, where you can setup your user account and preferences.

and not re put it on to a harddrive

sweet wasp
#

Looks like that BSOD error relates to hardware issues, corrupted system files or outdated OS.

I'd recommend doing a memory test using Windows Memory Diagnostic if it passes then your memory is all good
Then try opening CMD as admin and use the CHKDSK command to scan your hard drives

If everything is good from the scans give Windows a fresh install on an SSD (Backup any important files you'd like to keep as a fresh install will remove everything)

cprgbglitch :tada: Congrats @grizzled basin, you levelled up to 1! :tada: cprgbglitch

grizzled basin
#

@sweet wasp

#

will this not work

viscid pelican
#

I would create a backup separately if things you want to keep and do a proper reinstall to make sure none of the problematic files etc are left behind

sweet wasp
#

Yeah as Ant said it's always best to do a clean install to get rid of any problematic files - you can use a cloud service or buy an external harddrive/ssd or USB stick to save your important files on so you don't lose them

CrystalDiskInfo
sweet wasp
#

Try that to check ur drives

grizzled basin
#

ok

sweet wasp
#

Just to update everyone: He has ran an SFC /scannow and it detected no problems, and he has also done a Memory Test and again no issues so not sure what else could be causing the blue screen

grizzled basin
sweet wasp
#

You current and worst are all 100 I dunno if that is normal or not mine shows this

grizzled basin
#

Not a clue

sweet wasp
#

Maybe someone else here would understand it better

grizzled basin
#

Maybe i got no clue now

vernal turret
#

@grizzled basin Try heading into the C:/Windows/Minidump folder and see if you have any .dmp files inside, if so move it to somewhere like your downloads or documents folder then upload them to discord, they give a bit more info on the BSOD and what might have caused it

grizzled basin
#

ok

#

so all of thses?

#

i assume this is all the time my pc have blue screed

vernal turret
#

Yeah those are them, they get made automatically when your PC blue screens

grizzled basin
#

Ah yea after i did a windows update it happend but i dont know it was the update or just somthing else

#

not sure why just says processing

remote trailBOT
#

cprgbglitch :tada: Congrats @grizzled basin, you levelled up to 2! :tada: cprgbglitch

grizzled basin
#

let me just zip the file

#

wont let me zip it

vernal turret
#

Ah sometimes the permissions on the file don't let you upload them, try giving this a go:

grizzled basin
#

it wont even let me open it

#

i dont see chnage here

vernal turret
#

Try ticking Replace all child object permission entries, click OK and see if that fixes it

grizzled basin
#

still no

#

im the admin of the pc as well ;-;

vernal turret
#

Ah try it on the folder which you copied the files into

grizzled basin
#

ok

vernal turret
#

it might just restrict you from changing the permissions in the windows folder

grizzled basin
#

same thing

vernal turret
#

Try changing the permissions of one of the individual files and set yourself as an owner

#

will be a bit tedious to do all of them but you could just send one over for now so I can take a look

grizzled basin
#

what do i do here

#

this is on just one file

vernal turret
#

Try clicking Change next to owner, and type in your name

grizzled basin
#

there i got it

vernal turret
grizzled basin
#

this make real sense

#

xd

#

This other one has nothing it it as well

#

wont even let me send it on dc

MemTest86 Memory Testing

:one: Download MemTest86 using the link below.
:two: Open the zip file you downloaded and run ImageUSB
:three: Click 'Extract', choose a File Location then click 'Extract' again.
:four: Run ImageUSB from the File Explorer windows which just opened and select your USB stick from the list.
:five: Click the Write button, ensuring that any files on your USB stick that you would like to keep are backed up.
:six: Shut down the PC you are going to be testing, insert the USB stick and press the following key while your PC is turning on, depending on your motherboard:
rog ASUS/ROG: F8
aorus Aorus/Gigabyte: F12
msi asrock cp MSI/ASRock/Cyberpower: F11
Then select your USB Drive from the list and press Enter.
:seven: Wait for the 10 second timer to finish and the test will begin.
:exclamation: If MemTest86 picks up an error, or the test has finished (It will stop automatically), let us know.

After making a MemTest86 USB, you will notice that your USB will have much less capacity. To fix this, reopen the ImageUSB tool, select Reformat USB drive under Step 2, then click Write again.

grizzled basin
#

Ok what could be the issue?

#

Wait what is this about too do?

#

is this goin g to reset my pc

vernal turret
#

It's probably either RAM (hardware) related or something to do with Windows

It won't reset your PC, it will just boot off of a USB to run some tests to see if it can pick up any issues with your RAM

grizzled basin
#

ok

#

let me find my usb one moment

#

would a sd card work?

#

its 32gb

vernal turret
#

If you have an SD card reader then it might work

grizzled basin
#

i have a converter

remote trailBOT
#

cprgbglitch :tada: Congrats @grizzled basin, you levelled up to 3! :tada: cprgbglitch

vernal turret
#

That should be fine then 🙂

grizzled basin
#

it says it 64gb

#

but its only 32

vernal turret
#

Does it show as 64GB in file explorer?

grizzled basin
#

it dioes for some reason

#

it only a 32gb tho

#

do i just press write now?

vernal turret
#

Yeah click write

grizzled basin
#

wont let me

vernal turret
#

Is Step 3 still the same path as it was before? If that file is on your SD card (D:) it won't let you write it

grizzled basin
#

yea thast is set to the sd card

vernal turret
#

You'll need to keep the file at step 3 on your main drive, as it will get overwritten otherwise

grizzled basin
#

kk

#

i did this as well forgot to say

#

ok

#

its doin it now

#

what now

#

@vernal turret

#

do i just restart?

vernal turret
#

Yeah restart and keep pressing the key for your brand of motherboard

grizzled basin
#

yea

#

its just doing this

#

58% the way there it says

vernal turret
#

It will do each of the different tests 4 times just to make sure there's no differences between them at all

grizzled basin
#

ok

#

how do i know?

#

we have a error

#

it says somthing about a cpu idk

vernal turret
#

Send a picture of the errors you've got so far

grizzled basin
vernal turret
#

I would keep on going until this pass finishes (green progress bar at the top) and see if you get any more errors at all

grizzled basin
#

so when at goes to 100% its finished?

#

or does it need to do it 3 more times

vernal turret
#

Normally it will go back to 0 and do it 3 more times, though as its already picked up on errors there's not much point in running the same tests again

grizzled basin
#

Ok what does the first error mean

#

there is another error

remote trailBOT
#

cprgbglitch :tada: Congrats @grizzled basin, you levelled up to 4! :tada: cprgbglitch

vernal turret
#

The tests write a certain pattern into your RAM then reads it again afterwards, if anything is different from what it wrote into it then it picks it up as an error

grizzled basin
#

Ah

#

ok so its nothing to do with the cpu

#

after this test how do i work out what stick is bad?

vernal turret
#

No I think that's just which thread of your CPU the test is running on

grizzled basin
#

kk

vernal turret
grizzled basin
#

Ah so just run 1 at a time then

#

they are 16gb sticks so its fine to just run one at a time?

vernal turret
#

Yeah you can run them one at a time, or you could do 2 at once to narrow it down more without having to try each one individually

grizzled basin
#

what is best do you say?

#

yea i think i will run 2 at the same time

#

but i will run the 2 what have the same serial number

vernal turret
#

I would go for 2, makes it a bit quicker as if it errors you can try those 2 individually, or try the other pair

grizzled basin
#

as they probs need to be retuenred as a set

grizzled basin
#

should i just stop it?

#

and try test it?

#

or let it finish?

vernal turret
#

I'd let it finish this pass just to see if one of the tests cause it to spit out lots of errors

grizzled basin
#

ok

#

its 75% right now anyways

#

so when ever i find the one what casues that this should fix my blue screen

vernal turret
#

Yeah it should hopefully solve it

grizzled basin
#

Ok thanks

#

i will let you know

sweet wasp
#

So it was the RAM after all (Note to self: Never use Windows Memory Diagnostic) 🤣

grizzled basin
#

dw

#

Mainly happy i dont have to reset it

sweet wasp
#

I had the same issue as you on my old PC and windows memory diagnostic picked it up straight away lol

grizzled basin
#

lol

sweet wasp
grizzled basin
#

my issue is i now have to frind the set ;-;

#

so have to run it again 2 more times

#

it takes nearly 1h each time

sweet wasp
#

As soon as it picks up an error you may aswell cancel it no?

grizzled basin
#

He said just to leave it too finish

#

well let it do the first test

#

@vernal turret Do i restart my pc after it finishes?

vernal turret
#

Yeah give it a restart and take out a couple of your sticks, I would leave in the 2nd and 4th slot

#

Did it pick up on any other errors during that last bit?

grizzled basin
#

ok

#

no

#

only 2

#

will the test be faster with only 32gb

#

@vernal turret 1m in with 2sticks 5 errors

vernal turret
grizzled basin
#

dam

vernal turret
#

I would stop the test there and try each stick individually

grizzled basin
#

15 errors now

#

there is no point it was bought as a set so the set will need to go back

vernal turret
#

Ah I see - may be worth trying the other pair then, just to make sure its not a problem with the slots or anything

grizzled basin
#

Yea i will try that

#

@vernal turret Is there one more way to confirm that the issue is with the ram as i dont wana return it and its not the issue

vernal turret
#

If your other RAM comes out clear on memtest and you don't get any more blue screens, then its most likely that your other set of ram is causing the issue

grizzled basin
#

the issue is the blue screen is not all the time tho

#

and right now no errors at 50%

sweet wasp
#

Yeah thats normal with ram problems

grizzled basin
#

Ok

sweet wasp
#

PC will be working then all of a sudden DIESOFCRINGE

grizzled basin
#

Yea xd

#

@vernal turret Yea that is it fixed the ram was doggy

remote trailBOT
#

cprgbglitch :tada: Congrats @grizzled basin, you levelled up to 5! :tada: cprgbglitch

grizzled basin
#

;-;

#

Is there anything i need to do to my pc to do with the software i downloaded

sweet wasp
#

As for your PC you can carry on using it like normal without the dodgy ram sticks in and you shouldn't get that BSOD again

vernal turret
#

You'll just need to open up the imageusb tool and and pick Reformat USB drive under step 2 and click write

#

it sets the partition size of your SD card to be very small so that will just restore it back to its normal size

grizzled basin
#

probs wont do that yet i might keep that sd card just for this

#

as it never gets used ahahah

#

Thanks guys cant thank you enough this issuse has been going on for over 2months but never did antyhing about it
