#How to move limbs independently from one another in animator

i dont think ik works on r6 rigs, right?
Are there any other tips on making it easier to animate like can i lock limbs in place or something like that?

For example an issue i run into often is that i want to rotate a character's torso, but doing so completely offsets the legs from standing firmly on the ground, and its hard to try and get them back into a straight position manually, is there anything that can help this process for posing and animating?

open the anim editor

#

go to the limb u wanna change

#

and change the coordinate there

could you be slightly more specific?

#

(not intending to come off as rude im just not sure what you mean by "there" exactly)

#

i am in the animation editor and i have the limb selected

#

oh also! Is there a way to be able to select the origin point of rotation when rotating objects?

#

like if i want to move the leg from the foot up instead of the thigh down

theres always the option to animate in blender

man this is kind of confusing because instead of maintaining the pose until a different frame plays it immediately switches to the next frame's pose the moment you go past the previous frame

#

like it behaves the opposite way that most animation programs work..

rotund lichen
#

the way this works makes me have to do really weird convoluted stuff with the keyframes-.. like that should only need like 3 keyframes ends up taking like 5..

#

i wonder if itd be better to use the curve editor

#

is there not some sort of plugin thatd simply allow for moving the torso without affecting the limbs?? thatd be extremely helpful..

#

is there not just a way to disconnect everything from one another completely? (like all the 6 different limbs on the rig) So i can just manually select what i want to move together or independently

ive been reading about copying over the original positions of the limbs but im not quite sure how exactly youre supposed to do that? Since if you just copy the position of the limbs it will still rotate them towards the orientation of the torso (effectively changing nothing)

by welds do you mean these?

#

or something else

#

oh i see! thank you

it doesnt seem to let me move the body parts anymore after doing this though>

#

wait where did your message go?

sly raptor
#

nvm you can't because then you can't move the other limbs

#

You could re-rig the model

#

ok I found that if you re rig the model then you can do it. You gotta rig everything to the humanoid root part

i also found this and im a little concerned whether i would have to worry about this

#

i am still considering simply using the method of copy pasting the previous positions of the body parts after moving the torso but i still dont understand how to do that since copypasting just the keyframe for it still orients the limbs's positon to the torso
