ever since they changed the roblox logo to gray/black

i still haven't forgiven them for taking away my childish spark for "modernization" (aka marketing team said it so we pushed a button disregarding what our players feel )
then the constant and unconvenient UI changes for the sake of simplicity or testing or whatever, it made it so every few months i had to (re)adapt to the new changes and im traditionally more keen on the status quo so the old one, that was a big one
and of course all the drama and news we've been hearing these years "Roblox did that" "Roblox removed this"
you already know this is a company that simply does not care about your well being or how well off you are unless it makes them money, very cynical, so i never changed my mind because i always thought this way, but we cant do anything so idc i'm just looking to making a game of my own for fun

I think you are exactly not the demographic roblox is catering to with these updates. I make a living through being a developer on roblox, and I largely agree with the vast majority of their updates. I work with real developers who arent just some internet kids, actual middle aged programmers. I dont want every experience related to my work to be forever stuck to a "childish spark" or anything adjacent to that. Roblox's largest demographic growth in the last 5 years has been 17+. You gotta remember that Roblox is a game engine & platform first, and a community hub second

first of all you need to have enough to get DevEx in the first place, and that's already a tall bar for many, so it requires skills you're already supposed to have when starting out

it is unpredictable to an average starting out developer

to even get to the first paycheck

you need to be filthy rich to advertise your games or already have a good player count to get money out of it, otherwise no one's gonna bother playing your game and you'll get enough robux to transfer only after 10 years

compare it to something like steam, because that’s what they’re trying to be. When I think of steam I don’t think of a site for kids games or mature games, I just think of games. Roblox is trying to clean their slate so people look at it more as a distributor than anything else, since that’ll draw the widest range of audiences. Most adults 5 years ago wouldn’t even consider playing roblox, specifically due to its childish nature, but now you can barely find anyone who hasn’t
