"This is a simple line of code which involves one simple line of code"

writing could be better

#

I'll leave a little review in a bit

brittle needle
#

Overall, I would say this book is rated 3/10.
The content is structured in a way where it doesn’t make any sense to the reader.
You bring up topics that require the knowledge of the fundamentals, but you teach the fundamentals only later in the book.

This is your table of contents.
Why are you teaching about “if statements (brief???)” after functions, services and more.
The structure is just bad. It would be much better if you went over the fundamentals like variable naming , conditionals, functions, and so on first before even introducing roblox services.

How to Create your First Ever Code
Properties, Variables, Instances & Values

Then, throughout the book there were numerous spelling mistakes that were blatantly wrong. If you had read over this once, you would have most likely seen it, or by simply using a spell checking program.
There were also many incorrect statements about coding itself. Calling methods “commands” and much more.

The image quality of your examples are often vertically squished to the point where its hard to read certain areas. Not only that, but you intermix images with code. You often explain how to navigate to certain places in the workspace of Roblox Studio, but then you show images or screenshots of code. Why not show images of the studio space, and use code blocks for code?

For $10 USD, this book is very underwhelming and terrible. The free version of Programming in Lua is much better than this, and you can easily learn more from it. While it doesn’t teach roblox specifically, it does teach you basic Lua knowledge. There are plenty of free Lua Roblox books out on the internet as well, which you could have read through to take inspiration from.

In summary, not only is the information in this book partly wrong, but the writing and structure of the book is set up in a way where it's not even worth reading for a beginner, or intermediate scripter.

#

@oak peak

#

"All content is verified to be correct and helpful " is a blatant lie lol.
Didn't even spell check portions of this

oak peak
#

Even though I asked for a review from a beginner to verify the information.

#

And this was the result:

#

Thanks for providing negative feedback

brittle needle
#

clown
you asked a beginner to verify information for beginners?
And only 1 person?

#

I gave you structured feedback. I told you the flaws and how you can improve

oak peak
#

Read the last sentence.

brittle needle
#

thanks for providing negative feedback...yeah?

oak peak
brittle needle
#

maybe you should re read it, just like your book

#

because it has spelling errors, logic errors and more

brittle needle
#

obviously not. There are so many errors

oak peak
brittle needle
#

put it in Grammerly and watch it freak out

brittle needle
oak peak
brittle needle
#

your topic over gamepasses was longer than variables and of statements combined

#

on phone btw

#

don't call me out on my spelling, I'm not selling it for $10

oak peak
#

I’m open to negative feedback, just not in the way you put it.

#

How could I improve it?

oak peak
#

And no topic was 1 paragraph

brittle needle
#

It's bad quality also

oak peak
#

I sort of expected this from you.

brittle needle
#

don't become a writer if you can't take criticism

#

I also did mention how you can improve it. You obviously haven't read it

oak peak
# oak peak I sort of expected this from you.

I wondered, why would someone buy the book if they knew scripting. Then you said that you were planning to compare it. I knew from that point that it would probably be negative feedback.

brittle needle
#

I mention how you need to restructure it, fix spelling mistakes, errors like calling a method a command and more.

oak peak
#

Not how to fix them.

brittle needle
#

do I need to spell it out for you in my review? Maybe you need to work on your analytical skills also.

#

1 moment

#

I'll take a screenshot

oak peak
#

Did you read the whole book?

brittle needle
#

yup

#

re-read this, since you messed up the first time

#

"it would be much better..."

agile vale
brittle needle
#

if you can't take criticism stop writing and selling books

oak peak
brittle needle
#

LOL

#

I'll send you thr google doc so you can see the edits

#

how about that?

#

since you legit cannot take criticism

brittle needle
#

will do lol

oak peak
brittle needle
#

it's hard to compliment hot garbage.
If you are selling a book with major spelling errors, it says a lot about you

#

you didn't even check for spelling mistakes and decided "hey, this is worth $10!!"

oak peak
brittle needle
#

Yes, I already yes

#

it's 47 pages and most of it is images and space

oak peak
#

So then, you can tell me exactly what I say about tweening?

#

@brittle needle?

#

Let’s see how long it takes you to respond.

brittle needle
#

I'm busy rn. Will respond in 10 mjns. Got to go somewhere

oak peak
oak peak
#

So, 10mins + 2mins = 12mins

#

12mins to read the section and then say what it is.

oak peak
#

And if it takes you 10 minutes to read a medium sized section, how the hell were you supposed to have read the book in less than 90mins (and that’s constantly since I sent you the book at 7).

#

But how could you have compared it to the ‘online LUA course’ without more time.

oak peak
#

And also:

oak peak
#

It looks like, when you sent that, you didn’t consider the content, you just considered the overall document.

#

I’m being logical here.

#

And I bet you won’t even respond ten minutes after you sent that message.

#

Which is in 2mins

#

But we’ll see.

#

Oh wow. Look at that.

brittle needle
#

Alr im back

#

jeez

oak peak
#

Finished reading the chapter now?

brittle needle
#

text wal

oak peak
brittle needle
#

no , I dont have a photographic memory, I didnt memorize your code or your book

#

I just took notes while reading it

#

let me respond to all these other messages

brittle needle
brittle needle
brittle needle
oak peak
#

Constantly?

brittle needle
#

no I didnt do the practice exercises..why would I?

#

I can read code just fine lol

oak peak
brittle needle
#

And yes, reviewing a book thats 47 pages that is mostly images is very easy to review in less than 90 minutes

#

Because you shouldnt be sellingg it for $10 for this quality

brittle needle
#

?

#

not an interactive book?

oak peak
brittle needle
#

it obv is if you included excericses

oak peak
#

But did you do them?

#

No

brittle needle
#

you said its not..

#

bruh

oak peak
oak peak
brittle needle
#
local x = 10
print(x)
``` do this "interactive" exercise
oak peak
oak peak
brittle needle
#
this is sidetracking the main problem.
the problem with your book is the structure and content, not the code or the exercises.
I never said anything wrong with your code or excercises
oak peak
brittle needle
#
as a scripter I already know that. I dont need to run this code lol
oak peak
brittle needle
#
then your argument about me not using the exercises is invalid
#
listen dude,
if you cannot take critism like this, just stop writing books
oak peak
oak peak
brittle needle
#
I gave you constructive critism and you took it to heart
oak peak
oak peak
brittle needle
#
However. Since you cant seem to take it, im just going to take screenshots of all the bad portions of this book so you can blatantly see I guess
oak peak
brittle needle
oak peak
#
Ahhhh! So it’s the grammar you are obsessed with.
brittle needle
#
Have you been reading books with bad grammar your entire life?
brittle needle
#
"This is a simple line of code which involves one simple
line of code:" what even is this?
oak peak
brittle needle
#
This is the first thing you teach, but you later go on to teach fundamentals..why not teach them first?
#
since you want me to go over every line of this book, I will lol
#
im just gonna take it apart
#
tried giving you feedback
oak peak
oak peak
brittle needle
# oak peak Do not share it.
I can share screenshots of the book, its legal to. I just cant share the entire source or a majority of pages.
Its essentially qoutting
#
space key, equals, space key?
#
thats so ambigous
oak peak
#
Think what that could mean.
brittle needle
#
its ambigous for beginners
oak peak
#
And, you seem to have only read a tiny portion.
oak peak
#
For peer review..
brittle needle
#
So then market this book "Not for beginners"
oak peak
brittle needle
#
cool, your mistake
oak peak
#
Look
#
You’re advanced in your field
#
And it’s hard looking at the basics another way.
brittle needle
#
no its not
oak peak
#
Yes it is!
#
I’m speaking from experience here.
brittle needle
#
"hard looking at the basics another way"
the basics, are basic!!!.
theres not much else you can do to dumb them down
#
its like math.
How else can you teach that x equals a number?
oak peak
brittle needle
#
regardless, this is sidetracking, you are selling a bad book for $10
oak peak
brittle needle
#
Why only include certain code in screenshots. Why not code blocks etc?
oak peak
brittle needle
#
Thats not how PDFs work
#
PDFs use HTML
#
and its the same for the most part
oak peak
#
Not with mac.
#
Look, I still can’t understand why you bought it.
brittle needle
#
Again, teaching wait() and ReplicatedStorage before going over the very basics
#
This should also have been after the basics
oak peak
#
No replicatedstorage systems needed.
brittle needle
#
im 80% sure you dont even go over global and local throughout this book
brittle needle
oak peak
#
You can mention things early.
oak peak
brittle needle
#
Let me mentions series and summations before teaching you algebra
#
how abt that?
oak peak
#
This proves you haven’t read the book
oak peak
brittle needle
#
This proves you dont read my messages Clownin
#
stop directly attacking me, and focus on the critique lol
oak peak
brittle needle
oak peak
brittle needle
oak peak
#
This is getting stupid.
brittle needle
#
bro
oak peak
brittle needle
oak peak
#
Are we done here? It’s just, I need to go 💤.
brittle needle
#
Sure, im gonna keep posting about the bad portions of this book
oak peak
#
Okay.
oak peak
#
Why did you buy the book when you already know scripting, was it just to try to downgrade me in hopes of getting yourself higher?
brittle needle
#
No, its to prevent people from getting scammed for $10
#
simple as that
oak peak
brittle needle
#
in here
oak peak
#
Fine.
brittle needle
#
its a feedback channel after all
#
Finally, after teaching more than 7 sections, we arrrive at if statements...but only briefly... crying
#
"’, it
needs to be a ’==’ because a double equal sign shows that there are no
other possibilities that could replace the value."
wtf
#
what are you even saying
#
no other possibilities?
#
what??
#
are you doing statistics in your code or something that im not aware of?
#
while loop section skipped over do keyword and goto etc
#
"Cloning is a way of changing or duplicating the parent or explorer position
of an object in your game."
#
thats false
#
you can clone pretty much any object, does not need to be a parent or "explorer position"?
oak peak
#
You can’t clone the player.
brittle needle
#
sorry, "Part"
#
or model
#
etc
#
im not the one writing a book about it
oak peak
#
Yes, but if you continue further leakage, I will file legal action.
brittle needle
#
what im doing is legal
#
already said that
#
"Under the fair use doctrine of the U.S. copyright statute, it is permissible to use limited portions of a work including quotes, for purposes such as commentary, criticism, news reporting, and scholarly reports."
#
there ya go
#
no idea why you use a hyphen for coordinates throughout the book
#
":CFrames are a certain,
non-changing position."
#
" due to them being more
flexible."
the same 3 paramters
#
how is it more "more flexible"
#
chat GPT could write better than this
oak peak
brittle needle
#
yeah ?
#
" There are circumstances under the fair use doctrine where a quote or a sample may be used without permission"
#
then when you read more, youll find the qoute I sent came from the copyright website!
#
". If you think your
game has a very good chance of excellence, feel free to contact me with a
link to it and I can help you with business and marketing strategies for it!"
Actually hillarous.
Making a book, telling people to make games, then offering to essentially become their marketing manager LOL
oak peak
brittle needle
#
bro legit cannot read
#
it says on the site
#
" There are no legal rules permitting the use of a specific number of words, a certain number of musical notes, or percentage of a work. "
like bro
#
you cannot read if your life depended on it
#
I find it absolutely hilarous that you couldnt take the criticism, so you threatened me with copyright
untold ledge
#
holy
oak peak
oak peak
untold ledge
#
can i see the book
oak peak
oak peak
untold ledge
#
oh i didnt read the entire thing lol
oak peak
#
lol
#
You’d be wasting your time.
brittle needle
#
same with reading the book ☠️
oak peak
primal agate
#
What book?
brittle needle
#
1 sec, ill link the most important bits
#
Hes selling this terrible book for $10
#
IO reviewed it, and he threatened me with legal action lol
oak peak
brittle needle
#
Peter are you gonna put this book on your IRS forms?
If not im gonna leak the entire book since it would be illigal to sell it
primal agate
oak peak
#
And the review from a beginner:
brittle needle
#
yes, from a BEGINNER
#
bro
oak peak
brittle needle
#
how is a beginner supposed to know if the content is wrong
oak peak
oak peak
brittle needle
#
legit insane
oak peak
brittle needle
#
im gonna mention mods
primal agate
brittle needle
primal agate
#
That’s just a pleonasm
brittle needle
#
its the only line I said
#
And I showed a screenshot of the section
primal agate
#
Let’s sell a book for 10 bucks and add basic grammatical errors in it
#
Either this wasn’t ever proof read. Or the proof reader has never finished any classes in any language before
brittle needle
#
"customisation" yeah
primal agate
#
Customisation?
brittle needle
#
oh well, that differes I guess. Different in the US and Britain
#
just looked it up
#
@primal agate did he send you the book?
primal agate
#
This shit was not even put into a basic grammar testing program
#
Hell google docs would’ve fucking noticed this
primal agate
#
“An example involves you instead of saying.” Is just an insanely awful sentence
primal agate
#
The pleonasm was still reasonable but this is just awful
brittle needle
#
Grammerly is slowly counting
#
total errors so far
#
oh nvm
#
it was 386
#
that was total
#
"This code line has been used for a long time in most programming languages including python and it is the first line of code that introduces the script to the system. " 🤨
#
introduces the script to the system...
#
"Strings usually are words like the property in the properties tab called ‘Material’, which contains strings like ‘Plastic’ and ‘Grass’ which you can use in your scripts like the example below: "
why stretch this out so much
#
anyways,....not worth $10...lowering my review to 2/10
untold ledge
#
the guy who was here left 😭
brittle needle
#
did he leave the server?
#
damn
#
good
#
Ah hell nahhhh @untold ledge
