I am a Builder and UI Designer, I work in Blender as well, I just had a question like I want to learn scripting now, I have a book for Lua Scripting, namely Programming in Lua from Roberto Ierusalimschy, so can someone. Can someone make a guide for me like, first I should read the book and then watch youtube videos for it and so on. So that it won't get messed up for me.
Please I am requesting you if you can then make a guide.

Okay so, there’s a difference between lua and luau. Luau is the language roblox uses, it has a ton more functions useful for roblox games, but essentially it’s the same keywords. I’d recommend reading the book to get an understanding of the Lua language and then watch some tutorials/search on google to get more knowledge about Luau.
Alr, like this:
Step 1. Reading from the book. (For basic clearance.)
Step 2. Watching Tutorials.
Step 3. Making some basic and small projects.
Step 4. Implementing the codes and getting deep down knowledge.
Step 5. Achievement unlocked "Mastery in Scripting"...
Like these?
@stuck wing ?
Like this?
Exactly
Maybe download a lua executable to test what you’re learning from the book
To get some actual experience instead of just theory
Thanks man!
** You are now Level 1! **
You could also try to make a game in lua after finishing the book using LÖVE 2D
"Mastery in Scripting" isnt earned in 5 simple steps, it takes years and you will never master luau since there are so many things to learn and perfect, when you learn the basics start doing your own projects and see what you like the most
IK that, I am already a builder and that too took me a whole year to learn and get to make mid poly models and I am still learning. See I understand what you are saying but I haven't mentioned how many days or years it will take to do each step. I think you got the point. 😑
my main point was: "there are no 5 simple steps"
If you see clearly at the skies at night, either you will see darkness or you will see bright stars in it. It depends on you! If you got it that its good if don't than it is not my problem...

I dont recommend using tutorials, it doesnt teach you how to code, it teaches you how to steal code while getting a very basic understanding. What I recommend doing is first thinking of a small project then use roblox dev forums to learn the basics to make that happen, make something simple like a game where you have to find a randomly spawning button in an area to increase your score!
So you believe that roblox dev forums can increase my proficiency more than yt videos?
Thats good, I guess!
Thank You!
yes, because dev forums actually teach you and explain to you each component of scripting, show it in examples, and give all of its use cases
tutorials, on the other hand, only show you how to script a very specific thing with little to no explenation of each component merely showing you the code without telling you how to code.
Woah, I am in devforum but I don't read much. But from now on I will read dev forums. Thanks!
Thats true!
Yeah np
Devforums are entirely how I learned just searched up whatever I needed and its most likely there!
Thete are tutorials to teach u how to code wtf
yeah but if you search up "How to make a obby" its not going to teach you to script
No ofc not why would you search that up anyway when you want to learn how to script
But yea dev forums is a great place ngl
But that statement was false.
I still find dev forums better since it's self paced and more in depth, a video tutorial could spend 5 seconds on something you don't understand and 10 minutes on something that's easy for you
So could a dev forum post, i dont disagree with you but you’ve gotta get them arguments right.
Instead of seconds its just words/sentences
I mean it's also personal preference I prefer dev forums because of the self pacing and all that but you could prefer video tutorials more
