It doesn't have to be vague

its a real skill that can be studied and practiced

#

there just aren't as many people who take it seriously like that so its hard to find people who can be a high enough rank to rank others

The game designer * and game designer 3 people who I can remember having those roles have both left

  • Able to write complex systems (of mechanics) in game clearly, with detail, and without overcomplication.
    • Goes into depth about architecture and provide reasoning for it (physics wise, story wise, etc)
    • Sets a great feeling of immersiveness inside game.
    • If adding lore, lore is excellent content, easy to follow and easy to remember.
    • Game description is not only engaging but is good for marketing purposes as well.
    • Game name is not only a good fit but is arguably the best fit.
    • Able to walkthrough:
      • Why this game is a good fit for the intended audience.
      • What experiences are trying to be created.
      • Each and every aspect of the game and how it all connects.
    • Provides developers with great resources to enhance game quality.

the star rank that only writes lore shouldnt even have gotten the star rank to begin with imo

a good game designer imo is good at making sure everything ties in together and that nothing in the game seems like a dumbass decision

imo the documentation about what game design is; is quite well written in the pinned messages
