Need help with character selection

I need someone to help me understand how to make a character selection work , do i use events or something else? i dont even wanna change the characters appearance , just make it so when u pick a character ur able to awaken using the button F (which i aleardy have done but need to make it so it works only on a specific character , not on the starter character) any ideas?
