it is but as long as you aint distributing or behind a pay wall you're fine. Companies typically don't bat an eye.

Companies typically do not care if it's for animations like sfm for example. If it was illegal for animation purposes only, then that's a lot of law suits for people uploading to the steam workshop or modded skins,etc.
