in thirt person it looks weird but a basic rule for first person animation is that anything off camera can be unanimated and if it looks good in the first person view then its good

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I think the reason you don’t animate legs is so you can have multiple types of animations playing at the same time like walking it dashing in the legs and m1s on the arms
