Hello!

Every so often, I'll hear a Disconnect sound on my Windows desktop. I'm not sure what is causing it. The occurrence of the sound seems random.

Is there a way that I can check, in software, to see what may be malfunctioning?

Hardware-wise, I'll unplug all external devices and plug them in one at a time to see if this helps. I'll reply here when I can do it.

Could try Windows Reliability Report and see if anything comes up

Thanks. I'll check that out.

#

Five application errors today. App crashes.

Are you ever getting USB resource issue errors? Could be your issue

spice wave
#

I’ll just unplug and replug the most recent thing and it generally goes away.

spice wave
#

Still an issue.

Any other ways to check for the issue? Device manager?

acoustic mortar

Yes you can check that. Do you see anything out of the ordinary?

most likely a bad cable

#

try switching cables only advice i can give

#

sorry of its not good advice

spice wave
#

I’m not sure what cable to switch though. Most of my external peripherals and such are not modular (in the sense that you can switch the cables).

#

I suppose I’ll have to unplug everything externally...

#

oh yea

#

damn

@signal void and @acoustic mortar. I was checking the issue and now it’s doing the disconnect sound every few seconds.

I unplugged the USB devices from the front and rear, and I also unplugged monitors to see if that was the issue. No luck.

It seems like it’s either an internal device issue or it’s a software/driver issue.

interesting

#

i would prob reccomend changing the disconnect sound then

#

or muting system

I did a system restart earlier... It seems to have gone away for the time being.

Hey @signal void and @acoustic mortar!

I was fast enough to click the device disconnect icon as it popped up. It showed the text as USB 2.0 hub, which probably refers to my internal NZXT USB 2.0 hub.

signal void
#

interesting

#

whats that used for

spice wave
#

The internal USB 2.0 hub?

signal void
#

yea

spice wave
#

It's for my commander pro and lighting node core.

signal void
#

oh

spice wave
#

Hey @signal void and @acoustic mortar!

I removed my internal USB 2.0 NZXT hub and I am not hearing any disconnect sound. I’ll give it a few days.

However, now my lighting node core is not recognized in iCUE. I plugged the USB 2.0 cable from my lighting node core into my Commander Pro. I also kept both SATA cables plugged into the PSU SATA cables.

#

At first, I thought the lighting node core was not plugged in fully via USB, so I switched the port. No luck.

signal void
#

thats good

#

but damn

#

maybe its ur usb port on ur mobo?

spice wave
#

The commander pro that I have works. It’s recognized.

#

I only have one (1) internal USB 2.0 port, which is why I need a hub or to daisy-chain USB.

sometimes the ports don't support more then one thing tho i think
