Literally the US has always been free of making a truck respecting all the EU emissions and safety rules, nothing says you can’t make a pickup with a gigantic hood line, they just have to respect pedestrian safety it’s not that hard heck the ford ranger, the hillux, Mitsubishi L200 and the Isuzu D-Max are perfectly available here
The US manufacturers just don’t do it because they know they wouldn’t sell many and it wouldn’t be worth the cost to adapt for safety rules

Pretty much, obviously the hardware needed is the headunit screen controller and then a harness to attach to the existing harness with an emulator to trick the headunit that it’s in its donor car as it’s vin verified for the nav codes. Otherwise pretty straight forward and then you just gotta code the car and tell it to stop looking for a Combox as it doesn’t exist anymore

Then you gotta intercept the mic and USB wires going to the trunk under the passenger footwell raceway and redirect them to the headunit as everything kinda just moves to the headunit (Bluetooth nav microphone processing etc) @open sigil

All the factory wiring is the high speed wires typically seen in 2015+ models as they did the transition to high speed CAN-BUS in summer of 2013 and my car was built in 07/13 so I’m like right on the cusp pretty much

@open sigil finished the LED low beam swap today on the F30. Incredible improvement over halogen. Will be doing high beam fogs and headlight restoration this weekend but wow the difference is literally night and day.

I kept the halogen housing but just clipped in some LED lights that were compatible with the BMW Can-Bus and it’s pretty much just like the adaptive LED’s without the fancy angel eyes. No big deal though cause I’m tryna keep costs on the down low for this F30 it’s a daily anyhow

I am keeping my halogen parking lights though cause they provide heat which will prevent ice buildup on the headlight itself

And the parking lights are only on during unlock and daytime driving and doesn’t really have a effect except heat production

Also once I do the LED fog light swap I’ll be able to enable fog cornering which will dim the LED fog lights on and off depending on the steering angle imitating adaptive LED’s
