this could be insane...

#

let me see what the ornate is

solid tundra
#

I too can help

steep pilot
#

I can invite Korosei if you're cool with it

split nest
#

I made this by party cycling with my alt, I don't mind if you invite anyone

#

so long as there's a spot for me, anyone is welcome

solid tundra
#

Aww not couchable for me

split nest
#

welp, -18 Distorted and +18 Legendaries 😭

#

back to regular

solid tundra
#

How many distored did you make?

indigo urchin
#

I guess 18

split nest
#

5 at the very beginning, but those were from archpath/similar

steep pilot
#

I may or may not have just spent $2 on an Apollyon Shrine because I spent all my balor memories crafting over 60 distorted earlier 🙁

split nest
#

I'd make a ton, I have 11k memories but I want my DMs mimic

steep pilot
#

I was going to farm more memories before I did more hunting and then this amity showed up

steady charm
#

distorteds are scam confirmed

solid tundra
#

Yea I don't think I'd convert my dms to dms... but getting em from EoD is fine

indigo urchin
#

If they used 18 that's 90 Amities
You would have gotten the ornate by then for sure

steep pilot
#

No, really not for sure. Plenty of people have wasted >100 DMs hunting ornates

indigo urchin
split nest
#

getting easy leggies from hunts that only want leggies is perfect

indigo urchin
split nest
#

then you have never truly hunted /s

steep pilot
#

My goal is to end May with over 100 Distorted mnemonics

solid tundra
#

It might happen running hard dungeons

steep pilot
#

To use them throughout the year until the next Apollyon event

indigo urchin
#

If you change faction every week it's super possible

split nest
#

monus

steep pilot
#

That is why I'm currently Stormforce, but faction doesn't help with the memories

#

It's just bonus proofs

#

@split nest I got ornate you can stop hunting it

#

You should stop hunting it

split nest
#

send pix

steep pilot
solid tundra
#

Its perfect

split nest

#

Red 2 is also +20% element but the second is element resistance

indigo urchin
#

Who would have thought

steep pilot
#

I was sitting here dreaming about accessory effectiveness as the ornate

split nest
#

thank goodness I only have 25 Legendaries of it

#

I would've been sad to get the ornate

steep pilot
#

I only spent 3 Distorted fortunately

#

Have you hunted Green or Yellow? They're both couchable for me

split nest
#

Green isn't couchable for me, Yellow has meh stuff

steep pilot
#

I'll gamble away on Green while I'm here then

split nest
#

I'll probably do Yellow 4 (or 3?) since it's 2% crit chance and that's the only other one I've not looked at that looks decent

#

nvm first one is legendary and it's +15% Balor

steep pilot
#

Did I break something? I'm using normal DMs and my past 3 have been legendaries

#

Bad, but legendary

#

Nope Green is all bad

split nest
#

I will trash this party and start anew next hour

eager canopy
#

I think i have a X4 colour one in 8 minutes it's I'll confirm that soon

indigo urchin

steep pilot
#

No it was just a bit of luck

grave jungle

alpine vortex

I wish there was something between everything is couchable and nothing.

At home I've been able to scout every hour. At work I need 2x static just to make it to the final node.

wraith zephyr
grave jungle
#

I’ve noticed it from time to time when I have gps drift, it tends to fix itself

wraith zephyr
#

Happens to me a lot of time. Either move around 5-10m or just wait.

odd grove
#

Minigame two shifted from within 250m to over 330m

wraith zephyr
#

5-10 meters

#

Happens to me when I went to the toilet.

wraith zephyr
odd grove
#

From within 250m to over 340m?

#

I didn't move - and surely not 90m within the same room in my house

orchid oracle

Only difference is I zoomed out to take the first screenshot, then spent some time on discord, then did the second hunt

wraith zephyr
odd grove
#

And neither did Winter, as stated above

wraith zephyr

Also false

wraith zephyr
finite coral
#

So if the party changes at all then the amities move now?

wanton topaz
#

What do you mean party changes

wraith zephyr
finite coral
wanton topaz
#

GPS drift has always caused couchability issues, but maybe with the movable nodes it's making things snap wildly

wraith zephyr
wanton topaz
#

Seow you really gotta take time to read

wraith zephyr
wanton topaz
#

Yeah but that was a very specific message explaining the party leader did not do anything 😂

I would like individuals with knowledge on this topic to weigh in 🫡

wraith zephyr
wraith zephyr

wanton topaz

You can turn off your location

wraith zephyr
odd grove
wanton topaz
odd grove
#

On the first DM, I was able to complete all the minigames and completed the arcanist. On the second DM, I completed the first minigame and then minigame two moved to 340m away. Same hour, same party

wraith zephyr
#

In most situation "normal" , you can't.

And some GPS don't really turn off when you turn it off.

wraith zephyr
#

On the first node.

odd grove
wraith zephyr
#

You still haven't answer whether you turn off Gps or not.

wanton topaz
orchid oracle
#

Regardless of GPS on or off, I don't think a slight drift, which is completely expected in GPS related gameplay, should cause such a dramatic shift in dynamic node positioning

#

Why should we feel like we have to turn GPS off for our GPS game to function properly?

#

We're asking the wrong questions here

odd grove
#

It's tough when the questions that need answered are being drowned out with nonsense.

finite coral
orchid oracle
#

I've been planted in the same seat the whole time, unfortunately lol

wanton topaz
odd grove
wanton topaz
#

Ok then gps drift may be part of the problem

odd grove
#

I cba to toggle GPS 😂

odd grove
wanton topaz
#

Drift should never move things that much, but this is a new system

odd grove
#

90m is a lot.

wanton topaz
#

You know nodes snap to roads now right?

odd grove
#

This was minigames

#

As I said

wanton topaz
#

The minigames do too

wanton topaz
#

My guess is that drift is pushing the nodes in and out of range of road-snapping. That's the only thing I can think of to explain the big jumps

odd grove
wraith zephyr
wraith zephyr
#

Your 10-30m drift, ripple effects the nodes to clip to further roads.

#

Which could be 90m

wanton topaz
# odd grove This was minigames

Brother, now you're just rudely dismissing completely plausible answers. You seem to be the one that doesn't know enough about the subject to be so quick to dismiss the idea

#

It's definitely an issue - worth bringing it to Odie's attention. The road snapping could be exacerbating GPS drift more than reasonable. I've personally seen drift move nodes over 50m at least - before the rework

odd grove
wanton topaz
pseudo topaz
#

If i see a minigame or an arcanist 255m away. I have to walk atleast 10-15+m for it register the movement, but going from my bed to the restroom which is 2m away. it is able to detect the movement and shift the arcanists around

finite coral
#

You lost some of your built in antenna

#

thus GPS drift

wraith zephyr
wraith zephyr
finite coral
#

like the hokey pokey

#

it's what it's all about

pseudo topaz
finite coral
finite coral
wanton topaz
#

It's.. not ideal

pseudo topaz
#

it wasn't as drastic before

wanton topaz
#

Agreed, it usually wasn't too much

pseudo topaz
#

Not even notieable

wraith zephyr
odd grove
#

Imagine moving 2m shifting everything 90m+

wanton topaz
#

One way or another, it's good to bring it up

finite coral
pseudo topaz
#

stop with a copium lol, this is clearly an issue that needs addressing stop trying to dilute it

odd grove
#

Unfortunately, as stated earlier, being buried in nonsense with AI GPS drift posts

finite coral
#

You should see my friend car dancing when she loses signal while we move around.

wraith zephyr
#

The issue is, the drift causes ripple effects to the nodes clipping roads, which before this didn't happen.

finite coral
#

Which I can say that ATT has better coverage than tmobile.

wraith zephyr

Still can happen with GPS drift if that area of your house have weak Wi-Fi signal. Like my toilet.

orchid oracle

I'm right next to my router

wraith zephyr
orchid oracle
#

Trust me, the drift is minimal. Definitely not 10-30 meters as your google search suggests

wanton topaz
wraith zephyr

But 10-30m drift using WiFi is possible

Anyway, I'm just pointing out something I observed within minutes of them happening. No need to be dismissive initially

I suspect Odie increase the rate of answers tied to certain bonuses/amity.

I have no data to support.

But personally I feel I've answer this question so much that my legendary is almost the same.

wraith zephyr
wraith zephyr

And the faction one is the element damage.

wide thistle

@alpine vortex speaking of 3x perfect rolls.

wraith zephyr

Tried normal 19x 1 legend, used distorted dm x4 with shrine

wraith zephyr

#

Idk how effect later w/out shrine but still nice

wraith zephyr

Definitely will keep some.

I dunno whether to laugh or cry.

Im a rs, that would be tossed in the keep storage

grave jungle

The party seed doesn’t change as long as the party isn’t disband and leader doesn’t change right?

wraith zephyr
grave jungle
#

Gotcha thought so, that alt is staying parked right there as leader for the day then lol

wraith zephyr
#

I haven't try yet, cause the amity you get from me just now is very good. So I'm scare of transferring and corrupt the seed.

grave jungle

Yeah no kidding haha

boreal kite
alpine vortex
#

My OT is way way way more couchable, and my work is basically un couchable.

#

If you have roads <350m away but >250m away it will snap the dynamic nodes away from you.

wraith zephyr
#

@alpine vortex u have enough data to see which answer have higher chances on related amity/bonuses?

Cause I suspect Odie increase the rate.

alpine vortex
#

I have some data

#

I pulled 10 parties worth of data for the last year

#

What are you seeing?

wraith zephyr
past knot
#

this hour i actually have the reverse 😂
15% dragon on the first, 20% fire on the 2nd

#

but yeah, it feels like it follows a trend, and i think that's been mentioned before in this discussion thread

alpine vortex
#

It's far to early to make any conclusions honestly. Unless Odie says he changed the weights it would take months of data to make any correlation

alpine vortex
#

I used 10 parties worth of data and barely see any trends for most amity. That's about 1000 questions with 4-5 answers each

past knot
#

yeah, been amity hunting quite a bit today

alpine vortex
#

Per party

past knot
wraith zephyr
wraith zephyr
wraith zephyr

I'm not saying it's impossibly Odie made changes, but without data points saved on sheets it's very anecdotal

wraith zephyr
alpine vortex
#

Odie said the question has always made certain rewards 3x more common. If he increased it, we would either need confirmation from.him or a couple months worth of data

past knot
past knot
alpine vortex
#

Correct

past knot
#

tbh if any change occurred i wouldn't even have a point of reference to base it on

alpine vortex
#

For the 9 million posts i missed while sleeping...
Here is 2 maps, of the same party, same hour, Moving less then 30m (one corner of the house to the other, does move all dynamic nodes

#

it doesnt take much movement at all to completly shift the dynamic nodes, which is why memory parties are mainly concerned with red/blue

alpine vortex
#

this has nothing to do with gps drif

#

i moved 30m, and gps worked correctly in detecting i moved

#

previouslly a 3m move had little to no affect on most people, in the new system simply going to the bathroom could completly change your map

past knot
#

not if you simply let it out on the couch mimic

#

but yeah, i've had a few instances of changes from couchable -> not couchable today, but the new system feels a bit better in my individual case

wraith zephyr
lapis musk
# alpine vortex previouslly a 3m move had little to no affect on most people, in the new system ...

Thats weird. Just tested it on work. I work in a big garage and moved to another room for break and thats literally 50-75 meters away and the game detected me moving. But the nodes and minigames were exactly the same for me (Deux Group, current hour)

Sadly didnt take screenshots and cant move Back again this hour

but maybe i am wrong. need to test it again later. but your proof is definitly valid

wraith zephyr
#

I'm curious what phone you using? @lapis musk

lapis musk
#

android samsung galaxy s23

wraith zephyr
#

Could phone spec causes discrepancy in it?

alpine vortex
#

S24+ here.

#

Depending on the size of your garage. Moving 100m and not seeing any shift means there are likely no roads to snap to.

If I go to the park, I can move all I want and everything works 100% like it used to

lapis musk
#

Makes sense

wraith zephyr
#

Could be no public road for zookar.

lapis musk
#

Man it kinda sucks now 🙁 even if red and blue are couchable, you need to have luck with Step 2 and 3 of the Minigames

I thought amity-group hunting would be okay, but after 2 days of testing and scouting alot, its insanely hard. you defnitly have better chances living in urban areas.

my garage is kinda rural, so its way harder here. at home and at my gf its insane how much couchable steps and memories i see.

i guess its okay because its intended to be a GPS Feature and i can live with it. but getting a specific amity-bonus this way is just impossible

lapis musk
wraith zephyr
#

Damn snapping road makes small movements causes butterfly effects towards the nodes.

alpine vortex
#

I have the same issue. My work is the size of a Walmart so the roads are close enough to be detected but too far away to couch.

#

My home has so many public roads I've yet to find an hour that's not couchable

wraith zephyr
#

Even though I'm surrounded by roads, I still get non cochie nodes.

alpine vortex
#

I'm sure it's possible to get a non couchable hour. It's just really rare now

lapis musk
#

I would totaly like to walk for all 4 steps (make them non-couchable) if we can target specific amity-bonuses

steep pilot
proven orchid
#

Idk, sometimes when I'm doing hunting, I have to walk to get some spots but then when I start another hunt it becomes couchable. It' so random now

wraith zephyr
proven orchid
#

Other colours

#

I had an hour I was couching 3 colors, blue green yellow, after doing one

#

I guess they snaped to that road and stayed since I didn't move at all (?)

wraith zephyr
alpine vortex
#

I think my least favorite part....is just how dynamic it is. If I walk 10m to finish a hunt....green is in reach. Walk 10m again for the second....and now yellow is reachable and green is 350m away.

wanton topaz
alpine vortex
#

If you can get to the exact same original spot I believe so

#

So don't move your couch:-p

wraith zephyr
alpine vortex
#

If I'm 502m away from roads. Everything is static , once I cross to 409m away things start to snap to road. So 3m difference once you are snapping to roads can absolutely shift everything (that is dynamic)

wanton topaz
wraith zephyr
alpine vortex
#

3m of movement can 100% be gps drift. It can also be accurately detected by phones. Both answers can be correct

#

These are phones using cell towers to triangulate position. Not cia satellite with millimeter level precision

wraith zephyr
next furnace
wraith zephyr
#

Mine just a cheap $50 phone.

#

Can't even receive the triangulation properly unless it's from WiFi lol.

next furnace
open reef
next furnace
open reef
#

I guess within buildings the GPS signals can simply get too weak, so the mobile phone automatically switches to WLAN or location detection via cell towers, which can be quite inaccurate (particularly the latter). Which would not exactly be "GPS drift" (which is usually quite small - except if you can only see 2 or 3 satelittes), but the consequence would probably the same (with larger possible movements). But it's a long time ago that I learned something about communications technology, so I might be wrong.

I just wanted to build a big number raid build for d.ara

#

My couchability spot is 5 mins walk from home

#

(Basically an intersection of two roads so everything spawns there)

alpine vortex
jovial pelican
#

So I can walk away too and it still remains the same for everyone

#

That’s cool

grave jungle
jovial pelican
#

Oh damn I had no idea last week at work I had this seed and thought it won’t work for others

#

That’s the one I tried to get ornate off and never hit

#

So I could have done the same seed on the weekend from home too

queen coyote
#

I know it was already discussed, but the GPS drift is quite annoying.

I'll be hunting for a couchable ornate. GPS drifts and it's no longer couchable while sitting in the same chair the whole time. Frustrating!

solid tundra
#

I had that happen yesterday, it was really odd. Had the hour fine until I walked to the break room, came back to my desk and suddenly the node was out of reach

orchid oracle
#

especially if you're referring to very drastic shifts in response to not very drastic drift

wraith zephyr
#

My drift swinging outside the house to another outside of house lol

My location was never accurate lol.

X is my real location.

alpine vortex
#

I am also getting reports from multiple people who scouted something yesterday, they had 1 static and 2 dynamic nodes they could reach....and today it's 1 static and 1 dynamic.

I know a lot of people are using personal parties to reset seeds to maximize rewards, but the community data from parties is also very valuable.

#

So there does seem to be a lot of variance with dynamic nodes

wraith zephyr
alpine vortex
#

Not missing. Just they have shifted even though the person scouting is still in the same spot as yesterday

wraith zephyr
alpine vortex
#

It's multiple people saying the dynamic nodes aren't consistent day to day. Or even in the same hour. That's the take home. It could be drift, it could be the algorithm, it could be any number of things.

orchid oracle
wraith zephyr
pseudo topaz
#

There is no transferring, alt is the party leader

alpine vortex
#

You also can't transfer party leader in orna. The skull 💀 icon stays next to the name of the person who made the party

wanton topaz
#

I've seen only one time where the leader seemed to transfer, but it could have been a fluke/mistake

wanton topaz
#

You can have an alt keep a party alive while the leader is not in the party

alpine vortex
#

The leader can leave, join another party and rejoin and they get the skull icon back

#

But if the leader starts a new party, the old one disbands automatically I believe/ any invites to join it say it no longer exists

wanton topaz
#

Oh yeah? I feel like I tested that and that wasn't the case, but I wasn't very thoughrough

wraith zephyr
#

So rejoin party change the nodes.
Drift change the nodes.
Don't do anything also change the nodes

split nest
autumn wren
#

I must be in a bad spot. I live at the end of a cul-de-sac backing up on a wildlife area. It is consistently putting the hunt locations at surrounding area roads but to actually get to them by foot takes forever since you can't walk in anything like a direct line. Further, snapping them to these locations then makes it almost impossible to get a couchable one. Really frustrating watching all my hard earned boosts idly ticking down because it is takes forever to complete any hunt.

Not sure if this has been suggested, but I feel a reasonable quality of life improvement would be:

1.) an indicator above each colored memory representing how many questions you've answered. Something like a pie that is sliced 4 or 5 ways, with the pie being filled up with how many questions you've answered

2.) and then when you open up the actual question/answer menu, a check mark next to the question if you've answered it at least once

#

Because I'm constantly forgetting which ones I've answered 😂

I feel like the new system is very disproportionately balanced. It's either feast or famine. My OT sees why more couchable, while my work sees none.

The maps also feel too sensitive, moving rooms in my house can change a map completely. It also makes walks interesting cause yellow might spawn near you now, but 15m down the road and now yellow spawns 450m in the opposite direction.

I also would like to bring back option 2. We have people using 1000s of dms and finding maybe 1-2 good legendary. This was always my main issue with amity hunts, it's almost impossible to find something you want.

wraith zephyr
#

Option 1 using weighted class bonuses?

Or we can do a cycle of bonuses every season or per year, but we still can keep the amity with old bonuses that we found?

The hype of new bonuses and phasing out less used bonuses sounds good though.

steep pilot
#

Do not weight anything by class, please. That would be terrible for memory hunting when bonuses are locked behind Bestial Bonds

The concept of favoring major roads has good intentions but, I believe it is fundamentally flawed. I live in a major city very close to its downtown, but my municipality does not really believe in sidewalks for whatever reason.

So what I end up regularly seeing are amities seeded to areas nearby in practical terms, but also inaccessible due to lack of crosswalks or sidewalks.

There’s also a very large cemetery in my neighborhood with named roads that locks its gates in the early evening, so whatever drops in there can’t be accessed for more than half the day.

I realize this is somewhat anecdotal, but it’s also a new symptom of the new system I’ve experienced.

#

And, like Trex, there is rarely anything accessible while I’m at work because the roads are simply too dangerous to traverse on foot.

For example, i work from home today, and the 9 parties i checked this morning i could couch 100% of them with 1-3 witch nodes each.... all in 1 hour. At work i am still bating 0% chance of reaching a witch unless i use trinkets or walk 100m or more.

As a community i can say we are definitly see a higher % of each party being mapped due to dynamics, but a much lower % chance of others being able to reach even red/blue nodes due to how much local geography affects everything

I believe it's a side effect of everyone spaming amities because of the events and not because of the changes

I finally did some couch ability checks last night.

Felt like 30-50% were couchable at first,
And then I went 27 in a row that weren't couchable.

Wondering if that somehow had anything to do with the hour changing.

For the non couchables I used the number of party join notifications to count

wraith zephyr
alpine vortex
#

When we ask for all the mini games to be colored, this would be helpful in knowing that this hour, would only be couchable using dynamic nodes that move....which thanks to my house (map 1) was super easy. But for people like Da Kat and Stormshaw, and wintermelon, would basically be a wasted DM unless they wanna use trinkets and lose 2-3m orn and tons of mats (map 2). The second picture is 30-40m north of the park (map3) and is close enough to roads that they 'suck up' all of my nodes and i can no longer couch (3rd picture is at park with no roads for default mapping)

For all 3 pictures, the couchable ness of red/blue varied as well since we still have the left over drif of "where did you start the hunt inside the little circle. Sometimes Red, Sometimes blue, and sometimes both were couchable.

#

map 1 - park (red is reachable) map 2 house - blue is reachable, red is almost reachable, map3 the roads_stole_mynodes, red is very reachable

#

Even with my house, the green/yellow node moved further away. which is my other big complaint, that nothing thats reachable by default should ever move away from you.

wraith zephyr
alpine vortex
#

when i am in a park, there are no roads to my w, s, or e....just north, so there is only one way for all the nodes to go...north. which back to my second post, if no nodes moved away, the park map, my house map, and the road map would all end up couchable from start to finish, its due to the dynamic nodes moving away from me that it becomes not couchable.

wraith zephyr
#

Looking at the
Post 1 , 2nd pic.
Then
Post 2, 1st pic,
Then
Post 2, 3rd pic.

Minigames all snap to the crowded roads while dynamic final nodes just snap to your normal road on post 2, 1st pic.

But the post 2, 3rd pic final dynamic nodes actually snap to the crowded road again.

If map uses population to prioritize the road snapping, this probably will happen among two major roads?

I dunno how Odie or the map priorities roads.
But that's my speculation.

alpine vortex
#

post 1- picture 1 is my house, if i zoom in youll see its a big cul-de-sac, and its 20 year old neighborhood, thus those roads have been on osm for a while, so everything tends to cluster around the cul-de-sac. The road to the north is a 12 lane free way with no side walks and businesses only on the north half of the 12 lanes. the reason they all cluster in that one spot, is if i drew a circle from my starting location that was the only part of the circle that would hit the free way. if i moved further north they would spread out a lot more

#

if i turn my camera you can see both spots at the same time.

#

oddly enough that giant looking road in the middle isnt on osm, so it has no effect on anything, its actually a neighborhood , but its ~~ ❤️ ~~ (less than 3) years old

#

lol, good to know if you strike through a heart...id adds an arrow... thanks discord

wraith zephyr
#

Ya which is why I assume that ,
the reason why they snap that way is because it uses the density/population data to snap roads when there's two major roads.

But once that dense population is out from the view/max distance for nodes, it goes back to the one big odd looking stick road.

Because walkable roads = have higher density population? Hence the snapping prioritize that?

Again that's my assumption.
But it is indeed an issue.

I’m there with you. I’m pretty rural, and there aren’t many roads around my work. The closest roads are about 300m away, so the road snapping really hurts there.

My house actually improved with the update because I’m by a lake. Before, I couldn’t really hunt there at all because the lake would add about 300m to any node. Now that nodes can spawn in the water, it actually works great for me at home.

But then I go to work and it’s the complete opposite. Im not sure of the fix. I like this system better since I can at least do amities at both locations now kinda. Before I couldnt do them at home. I would have to get in a car and drive 500m away from the lake.

alpine vortex
#

100% same boat (home better, work worthless), i just want something between feast and famine. I think the simplest solution is to color the mini games, and then not let any dynamic node snap to a road if it would naturally be <250m away.

#

this would also increase the ability to share 'couchable' hunts, as in every step is couchable, vs the current system of only being able to report if the red/blue witch is

heady lantern
#

Yeah I really hope we can figure out a way to keep the couchable amitiy parties. That part of the game was amazing.

If that goes away its going to be really hard for new orna players to get the good amities like all the OG's and I think it will hamper game growth.

Oh ya I found trick to instantly spawn u to final nodes.

3rd mini games don't finish it, when you are at the next hour, you finish it and it instantly brings you to the final node of next

If you stop at final nodes, next hour you answer it, it will gives you amity from the next hour. I'm not sure whether is it from the same question/answer or randomly pick from that hour or same color.

I've used this to scout my next hour final nodes.

Can be tricky to jump in at times, but we're not ignoring the threads.
I'll reiterate that pushes for more couchability wouldn't be super attractive to us, and we're happy that this new system makes more sense for folks starting out.

We've done a middle ground approach on the available nodes already, unsure we're looking to increase couchability more atm

Giving more ability to target bonuses properly should go a long way though

That is also with some generous luck since most of my evenings have been non-couchable.

I'd have thought so, but I don't do any code so honestly unsure. I'll ask about it - Odie's in lockdown mode to finalise Ornaversary (which is going to be incredible) and a couple of other things, will let you know when I hear back

#

Hey I have idea - since we have 2 static witch huts - maybe some of minigames nodes (2 or 3 per step) should be also marked in diff color circle and static for all when rest can go all over the place, roads you name it.
It would be truly good for hunting community (possible to get few 100% couchable hours for anyone) and keep the safetynet road snapping other nodes.
I remind that they were to fix issues with private property or inaccessible area in hunts - my suggestion doesn't affect this change at all. Memories fixed for new players and scouting groups happy.

If the answers get further boosted it would be great to have something in-game that indicates when you get a boosted bonus.

Wouldn't want to have to collect hundreds or thousands of data points per answer to figure it out.

It also would help less hardcore players know that certain answers tend to give certain bonuses.

Even something as simple as some text saying "answer aligned first bonus" would help a ton.
Both for casuals and more hardcore players that would want to document this.

Big agree.

I'd go further and recommend to have at most a "low" and "high"

e.g. Crit is either 20% or 40%
Dragon damage 15% or 30%
Apex Damage either 10% or 20%
Accessory.... either 15% or 25%
etc.

Really, with how many amities are super underwhelming
(5% more orns is a primary bonus btw)
I personally wouldn't mind if everything only gave the max
but I'm sure there's people that wouldn't be down for that.

#

Even though there's still roughly 70000 3-bonus combos

#

.
Oh, I just realized that the orna legends amity guide spreadsheet doesn't have the beast bond 1 amity listed.
Wonder how many bonuses are missing from that.

wraith zephyr
#

Unpopular Opinion.

I like quality range from 1% to max. Just like our gears quality.

buoyant nest
#

If you could target specific amity bonuses I wouldn't mind the ranges nearly as much

#

I'm assuming memory hunts won't really change in a particularly meaningful way when I suggest changes to the bonus value distribution

#

.
I've played other games where for systems like this you can target some pool of things
and that would go a long way towards helping here if added.

E.g. you could limit amities to only drawing their bonuses from some set of 10 bonuses or something

#

And I do think something like that becomes increasingly more desirable as more bonus types get added to the pool

wraith zephyr
buoyant nest
#

10 choose 3 would still be 120 combinations for reference

wraith zephyr
buoyant nest
#

If you include qualities, it's more like 3240

#

and also then multply by 80 for a

wraith zephyr
#

There's now like 1 million combination.
70k unique.
20k max unique.

buoyant nest
#

so still like 259200 attempts on average to get the exact 3-bonus amity you want

#

which I think is plenty personally

wraith zephyr
#

With the help of the hunting party, is probably gonna be map out with few weeks. So then, there's nothing to hunt anymore.
259200 is very easy to achieve through parties.

A lot of ppl spend 400-1k + to scout per week.

buoyant nest
#

Also, for reference
On gear with there being a 1/200 chance at an ornate
and assuming the quality is evenly distributed there
It's only 6000 attempts on average for a perfect piece of equipment

buoyant nest
# wraith zephyr With the help of the hunting party, is probably gonna be map out with few weeks....

I assure you, there are not "a lot" of people that spend 400-1k to scout per week.

There's a notable amount of really hardcore players that do that.

but even if they're spending 1k per week,
that's still requiring 260+ people scouting in a coordinated effort to do that
which I don't think is happening.

and like, if you get 260+ people spending 1k DMs to get a single amity I think that's fine actually.

indigo urchin
buoyant nest

If the goal is to make amity hunts more approachable/desirable/rewarding for the overall playerbase

We should be trying to make the spending 7-20 DMs per week experience good

wraith zephyr

I strongly disagree

Amity hunting parties are amazing

but they only exist because the level of effort required to get/find good/perfect mulit-bonus amities is quite frankly way too high

wraith zephyr
buoyant nest

Yeah

because amity parties are a huge pain

so I don't want to have to do them

The system should be designed for most players though

not the handful of people going mega hardcore on it.

I can appreciate the positioning patch being for the large player base,
but when it comes to finding desirable amities the system is still flawed as Da Kat was saying.

If there's more changes to come that greatly reduce the RNG,
or at least designed for a person using 7-20 DMs per week for walks (non-couchables) being able to find a single amity they're searching for in a relatively timely manner (a few weeks or a month)
I could see the feature being much better

but as it stands, I still dunno anyone that would think non-couchables are a viable way for finding good multi-bonus amities.

steep pilot
#

Per Odie, memories can spawn just find on any public road or trail, not just major roads

next furnace
alpine vortex
#

I mean people are posting evidence of the opposite

#

I have the same issue at my work

steep pilot
#

Whatever is going on is related to the OSM tags Odie is using to determine what a "public" road is

#

Because in my testing so far it has somehow worked perfectly fine. Amities spawn on the small roads, big roads, park paths, etc.

next furnace
alpine vortex
#

Maybe osm is more reliable in Canada ...

digital patio
#

I'm not saying they don't, I'm in a simple town with normal roads

alpine vortex
digital patio
#

But what I'm pointing out is that nodes spawns only in the roads visible only once zoomed out

steep pilot
#

See I would like to check the tagging on the roads there, but doing that would require you giving me the address of your work 😆

digital patio
#

Which in my case or others for example ends up being some broken dots

alpine vortex
#

There are lots of public roads near me....but it selectively prefers the intersection 350m NW of me

steep pilot
spring orchid
alpine vortex
#

My roads disappear when zoomed out, so I don't think it had to do with zoom as it still prefers a specific intersection

spring orchid
steep pilot
#

If it renders beige on the map, it can be chosen by the server
Trex does have proof that isn't working as intended

alpine vortex
#

Here it is without my red line lol

digital patio
steep pilot
#

Sorry for the fools

digital patio
#

And still zoomed out you've full drawings of them

#

To me it just looks messed up like if I live in a swamp (I guarantee I don't)

spring orchid
#

The map library we use can hide some details at higher zoom levels for performance reasons

This won’t have any effect on memory hunt locations

steep pilot
#

Trex, could you post a screenshot of what nodes look like at your work?

alpine vortex
#

This is 99% of my maps with 3x dynamic in the corner and 2 static else where

steep pilot
#

Despite rendering beige, they aren't spawning on all beige paths

spring orchid
next furnace
#

In my case they preferentially stick to roundabouts

spring orchid
#

Some spots / roads will have more geometry registered in OSM data, therefore more candidates for the algorithm to choose random positions from

alpine vortex
#

Aka 4 lane highway intersection with 4 lane highway?

steep pilot
#

Ah, I see what's going on then. It's choosing OSM Nodes?

#

As opposed to OSM Ways

spring orchid
#

It would be safe to say the a four lane highway will have more geometry then a small road

spring orchid
wraith zephyr
#

Odie coming out from meditation cave to explain roads.....

steep pilot
#

I was thinking because a roundabout is made of many Nodes (in order to make it circular) while a straight road would have few Nodes. Idk though

steep pilot
#

I was trying to think of a reason LordGreenMonkey would see his memories sticking to roundabouts more often than not

spring orchid
#

How many samples do we have in order to suggest the roundabout is preferred over other geometries?

digital patio
#

Wish I had more roundabouts nearby. Damn Rome and the Roman infrastructure with just crossings

steep pilot
#

I have good couchability because some madman mapped all the sidewalks in my city as separate paths instead of the roads being tagged as having sidewalks. Which looks really dumb on maps and screws up routefinding -.-

spring orchid
wraith zephyr
#

The issue here is, which road does the algo prioritize as the road to clip.

Is it coded by Odie?
Or it is feed by OSM

steep pilot
#

I was told by OSM Admins that it was valid and I shouldn't fix it

next furnace
#

I have my office 150 meters from a big roundabout, yesterday I had 80/90% of couchable nodes (even 4/5 per step.
Today despite I am very close to several small streets, I see a drastical drop of couchable rate.

spring orchid
wraith zephyr
steep pilot
#

No, I use Strava or CalTopo to map out running routes. But that's veering way off topic 😅

wraith zephyr
#

I'm just curious lol.

next furnace
alpine vortex
#

In osm what is classified as a public road

steep pilot
#

There is just something about this new system that makes it great for some people and bad for others, and I wish we could figure out what specifically it was.

Because overall for the majority of the playerbase that uses amities and walks around without hunting in Discord, it works great. Walking for amities has never been easier

steep pilot
wraith zephyr
#

Literally any path recorded by OSM

alpine vortex
#

Yellow roads on osm are the only ones I see anything on

steep pilot
#

Well now that you've posted it I have to look at it on oSM

alpine vortex
#

That is osm

wraith zephyr
#

Damnn ppl, going technical.

alpine vortex
#

I think my work is just perfectly spaced between 3 major roads so it pulls everything away from me

#

Feel free to come visit. We have cadavers for the medical students so the building smells great

steep pilot
#

I'm not sure how much Odie cares to dig into this:

  • Does it avoid roads tagged as highway=service?
  • Does it avoid roads tagged as access=no or access=private?
wraith zephyr
next furnace
#

Don't know if this helps, but in this case I have very good couchability, the nodes stick to the orange road (this is my office)

alpine vortex
#

Yellow is neigh

next furnace
#

this is my home, here the nodes sticks to yellow and orange

steep pilot
alpine vortex
#

How do you see that, cause the road to my east and the neighborhood to my south are all public

wraith zephyr
#

Knight with admin access... Damnnn

steep pilot
#

I'm in Edit mode. The residential area is properly tagged as highway=residential

next furnace
#

So the feeling is that small streets (white ones in my map) are not liked by the system

steep pilot
#

Technically, around my house all the sidewalks are tagged as highway=footway

So if for some reason it was avoiding highway=residential, I wouldn't be affected either.

alpine vortex
#

I mean the road to my east and south are marked as residential

steep pilot
#

Edit mode, or right click query features and click the road

alpine vortex
#

Just not primary road

#

You have to login via Gmail or something to see it

steep pilot
#

sweet mesa
wraith zephyr
alpine vortex
#

Look at the number of nodes in that intersection.... 10x any other location no wonder they all get sucked to there

steep pilot
#

Yeah, Odie said it's supposed to be based on Ways (lines) not Nodes though

#

But it's stuff like that why I assumed it must be based on Nodes

wraith zephyr
#

That's why I suspect, the osm prioritize density too.

steep pilot
#

Because of the sidewalk situation near me, every intersection has 9 nodes

wraith zephyr
#

So most of them clip there?

steep pilot
#

That's what we think we're seeing

next furnace
wraith zephyr
#

So those nodes+lines are tagged as highway, foot.

alpine vortex
#

If it would prioritize residential roads over "main" roads it would help me....not sure how it would affect green or ash. But the morale of the story is my work is just perfectly placed between 3 major roads....so everything gets pulled away from me towards them

steep pilot
spring orchid
#

I can look into whether access=foot is used enough, that would be a good thing to add to the query

My hunch is that it’s not tagged as much as it should be

steep pilot
#

access=foot is definitely not used much in OSM

wraith zephyr
steep pilot
#

I'd think the only safe tag to assume a road/path has is highway

wraith zephyr
#

Or residential default setting is foot?

steep pilot
#

I can confirm the residential streets new Trex only have Highway and Name

alpine vortex
#

My house has secondary road , foot path, and residential....but it's 90% couchable rate there and multiple roads and round about close by

#

The issue with osm is it flags highway as "allows foot"

spring orchid
wraith zephyr
#

So Odie uses default highway=path.

The residential streets at trex work place might not categorize under highway=path.

steep pilot
#

Please don't just post screenshots of AI explanations

next furnace
#

I see foot= "designated", "yes", "permissive", "destination", "customers"

steep pilot
#

Or is it doing something else?

spring orchid
#

there’s a few it’ll be pulling, I’m away from the code atm

steep pilot
#

Right now a concern from our semi-anecdotal evidence is that it might not be pulling toward highway=residential for some reason

next furnace
#

In my area all residential are marked "foot=yes" but the system does not like them

steep pilot
#

Since memories don't appear to spawn on the residential road next to Trex's work

next furnace
wraith zephyr
#

Highway=path might not include all the other path.

digital patio
#

Even just allowing a bit more of extra buffer on the range for each node could already help as some sort of mitigation of the "issue" while a final and improved solution is agreed

wraith zephyr
#

If the highway=path issue is solve, u might not need the range.

digital patio
next furnace
#

I just changed the road in front of my house from terziary to secondary and the nodes magically stick to it now

wraith zephyr
#

Dammmnn pro level play.

next furnace
#

Yes that was a test and it just worked, but as said, the system should prefer minor roads, and skip primary or secondary, that are normally much dangerous, unless there is a footwalk or cycling roads close to it

wraith zephyr
#

Broooo u just crack the code, now I can change OSM data to make my life easy. Damnnnnnn

Later Odie say, we are not using OSM anymore.

Which those map nodes at my place are mostly security gates.

Also it's not snapping to residential tag too.

Red and blue shouldn't snap to anything.

Let me check the minigames, cause the minigames if I'm not mistaken is at the same place too.

#

Blue spawn on top of the fountain, 2 minigames spawn on top of the fountain, which is the node that is a security gate.

On my left there's actually 4 nodes on OSM. all those minigames are at those 4.

#

The reason why I notice is because my character always miss those minigames/nodes circle by a certain range.

#

Are those nodes consider part of the highway=path tags?

spring orchid

red and blue and random locations, so OSM is not used for them

those are just road-heavy locations, so there's more likelihood that a spawn could be there
