Regardless of GPS on or off, I don't think a slight drift, which is completely expected in GPS related gameplay, should cause such a dramatic shift in dynamic node positioning

My guess is that drift is pushing the nodes in and out of range of road-snapping. That's the only thing I can think of to explain the big jumps

It's definitely an issue - worth bringing it to Odie's attention. The road snapping could be exacerbating GPS drift more than reasonable. I've personally seen drift move nodes over 50m at least - before the rework

If i see a minigame or an arcanist 255m away. I have to walk atleast 10-15+m for it register the movement, but going from my bed to the restroom which is 2m away. it is able to detect the movement and shift the arcanists around

That's always been part of amity hunting and GPS drift. The way that the node generation works has always partially taken your physical location into account. If you shift around via drift you might offset all node positions pretty noticeably

You should see my friend car dancing when she loses signal while we move around.
The issue is, the drift causes ripple effects to the nodes clipping roads, which before this didn't happen.
Which I can say that ATT has better coverage than tmobile.
Hence I only use WiFi for ORNA when I'm at home. I turn off the telcos.

The other way is to transfer party leader.
But he mention sometimes it might be corrupted due to transfer of leader.

Yeah, I have the feeling that I have more couchables after the 'snap to roads' update. I haven't tested it yet (and also don't have any 'before' data). Maybe I should have a look into that for a couple of weeks.
I'm not an expert, but I'm wondering if the distribution of roads within 250m from my home has something to do with it.
For me is more too.
My OT is way way way more couchable, and my work is basically un couchable.
If you have roads <350m away but >250m away it will snap the dynamic nodes away from you.

Here is 2 maps, of the same party, same hour, Moving less then 30m (one corner of the house to the other, does move all dynamic nodes

it doesnt take much movement at all to completly shift the dynamic nodes, which is why memory parties are mainly concerned with red/blue
And don't forget GPS drift.

i moved 30m, and gps worked correctly in detecting i moved
previouslly a 3m move had little to no affect on most people, in the new system simply going to the bathroom could completly change your map
not if you simply let it out on the couch 
but yeah, i've had a few instances of changes from couchable -> not couchable today, but the new system feels a bit better in my individual case

Thats weird. Just tested it on work. I work in a big garage and moved to another room for break and thats literally 50-75 meters away and the game detected me moving. But the nodes and minigames were exactly the same for me (Deux Group, current hour)

Depending on the size of your garage. Moving 100m and not seeing any shift means there are likely no roads to snap to.
If I go to the park, I can move all I want and everything works 100% like it used to

I thought amity-group hunting would be okay, but after 2 days of testing and scouting alot, its insanely hard. you defnitly have better chances living in urban areas.
my garage is kinda rural, so its way harder here. at home and at my gf its insane how much couchable steps and memories i see.
i guess its okay because its intended to be a GPS Feature and i can live with it. but getting a specific amity-bonus this way is just impossible

I have the same issue. My work is the size of a Walmart so the roads are close enough to be detected but too far away to couch.
My home has so many public roads I've yet to find an hour that's not couchable

I think my least favorite part....is just how dynamic it is. If I walk 10m to finish a hunt....green is in reach. Walk 10m again for the second....and now yellow is reachable and green is 350m away.

But based on trex post and some other ppl post, the difference of 3M might change the nodes for the random one.
If I'm 502m away from roads. Everything is static , once I cross to 409m away things start to snap to road. So 3m difference once you are snapping to roads can absolutely shift everything (that is dynamic)
That's why we theorized that gps drift could be causing the massive shifts - making just enough of a difference to make things snap and unsnap
But for trex it was just pure 3m moving away from the original couch. Just like mine where I went to toilet.

3m of movement can 100% be gps drift. It can also be accurately detected by phones. Both answers can be correct
These are phones using cell towers to triangulate position. Not cia satellite with millimeter level precision

I just got all the snapping nodes go to 700/800 m far away from me. I am not sure this should happen, given the advertisement for an easier system.
I guess within buildings the GPS signals can simply get too weak, so the mobile phone automatically switches to WLAN or location detection via cell towers, which can be quite inaccurate (particularly the latter). Which would not exactly be "GPS drift" (which is usually quite small - except if you can only see 2 or 3 satelittes), but the consequence would probably the same (with larger possible movements). But it's a long time ago that I learned something about communications technology, so I might be wrong.

My couchability spot is 5 mins walk from home
(Basically an intersection of two roads so everything spawns there)
Location doesn't matter, just party seed. As long as you are in a party when you find it, you can share it....it's up to everyone else to walk to get it
And on the flip side if you disband and recreate parties you can refresh the seed to scout without having to wait for a new hour which I’m about to start doing again shortly

I am also getting reports from multiple people who scouted something yesterday, they had 1 static and 2 dynamic nodes they could reach....and today it's 1 static and 1 dynamic.
I know a lot of people are using personal parties to reset seeds to maximize rewards, but the community data from parties is also very valuable.
So there does seem to be a lot of variance with dynamic nodes

Not missing. Just they have shifted even though the person scouting is still in the same spot as yesterday

It's multiple people saying the dynamic nodes aren't consistent day to day. Or even in the same hour. That's the take home. It could be drift, it could be the algorithm, it could be any number of things.
Can confirm. Before the event I scouted a couchable party for every hour. The next day I went back to those parties and many were way off. Parties were not disbanded.
So you transfer the party leader to an alt?
Cause I know there some issue that when you transfer party leader, it will corrupt the nodes/seed.

You also can't transfer party leader in orna. The skull 💀 icon stays next to the name of the person who made the party
I've seen only one time where the leader seemed to transfer, but it could have been a fluke/mistake

You can have an alt keep a party alive while the leader is not in the party
The leader can leave, join another party and rejoin and they get the skull icon back
But if the leader starts a new party, the old one disbands automatically I believe/ any invites to join it say it no longer exists

I must be in a bad spot. I live at the end of a cul-de-sac backing up on a wildlife area. It is consistently putting the hunt locations at surrounding area roads but to actually get to them by foot takes forever since you can't walk in anything like a direct line. Further, snapping them to these locations then makes it almost impossible to get a couchable one. Really frustrating watching all my hard earned boosts idly ticking down because it is takes forever to complete any hunt.
I saw the same thing.
Same hour, same exact location.
One day it was couchable across three characters in the same party with the same memory locations.
The next day, all three were uncouchable and the memory locations were consistent with one another.
Not sure if this has been suggested, but I feel a reasonable quality of life improvement would be:
1.) an indicator above each colored memory representing how many questions you've answered. Something like a pie that is sliced 4 or 5 ways, with the pie being filled up with how many questions you've answered
2.) and then when you open up the actual question/answer menu, a check mark next to the question if you've answered it at least once
Because I'm constantly forgetting which ones I've answered 😂

I feel like the new system is very disproportionately balanced. It's either feast or famine. My OT sees why more couchable, while my work sees none.
The maps also feel too sensitive, moving rooms in my house can change a map completely. It also makes walks interesting cause yellow might spawn near you now, but 15m down the road and now yellow spawns 450m in the opposite direction.
I also would like to bring back option 2. We have people using 1000s of dms and finding maybe 1-2 good legendary. This was always my main issue with amity hunts, it's almost impossible to find something you want.

The hype of new bonuses and phasing out less used bonuses sounds good though.

The concept of favoring major roads has good intentions but, I believe it is fundamentally flawed. I live in a major city very close to its downtown, but my municipality does not really believe in sidewalks for whatever reason.
So what I end up regularly seeing are amities seeded to areas nearby in practical terms, but also inaccessible due to lack of crosswalks or sidewalks.
There’s also a very large cemetery in my neighborhood with named roads that locks its gates in the early evening, so whatever drops in there can’t be accessed for more than half the day.
I realize this is somewhat anecdotal, but it’s also a new symptom of the new system I’ve experienced.
And, like Trex, there is rarely anything accessible while I’m at work because the roads are simply too dangerous to traverse on foot.

As a community i can say we are definitly see a higher % of each party being mapped due to dynamics, but a much lower % chance of others being able to reach even red/blue nodes due to how much local geography affects everything
I believe it's a side effect of everyone spaming amities because of the events and not because of the changes
When we return to normal orna the people the usually map will have significantly less chances of getting a couchable over all
true, but if trex is at home, he can scout almost all of the parties, vs the previous system that if it was uncouchable for 1 person, it was 90% odds of being uncouchable for everyone

I finally did some couch ability checks last night.
Felt like 30-50% were couchable at first,
And then I went 27 in a row that weren't couchable.

Agreed that witch hut is too sensitive. It should have same layout near same roads if you move 30meters. But I can get 3 different layouts by just moving in my house

When we ask for all the mini games to be colored, this would be helpful in knowing that this hour, would only be couchable using dynamic nodes that move....which thanks to my house (map 1) was super easy. But for people like Da Kat and Stormshaw, and wintermelon, would basically be a wasted DM unless they wanna use trinkets and lose 2-3m orn and tons of mats (map 2). The second picture is 30-40m north of the park (map3) and is close enough to roads that they 'suck up' all of my nodes and i can no longer couch (3rd picture is at park with no roads for default mapping)
For all 3 pictures, the couchable ness of red/blue varied as well since we still have the left over drif of "where did you start the hunt inside the little circle. Sometimes Red, Sometimes blue, and sometimes both were couchable.
map 1 - park (red is reachable) map 2 house - blue is reachable, red is almost reachable, map3 the roads_stole_mynodes, red is very reachable
Even with my house, the green/yellow node moved further away. which is my other big complaint, that nothing thats reachable by default should ever move away from you.
Could be because of nodes trying to all snap the road near you but they can't for dunno what reason and instead, it snap the furthest.

when i am in a park, there are no roads to my w, s, or e....just north, so there is only one way for all the nodes to go...north. which back to my second post, if no nodes moved away, the park map, my house map, and the road map would all end up couchable from start to finish, its due to the dynamic nodes moving away from me that it becomes not couchable.

If map uses population to prioritize the road snapping, this probably will happen among two major roads?
I dunno how Odie or the map priorities roads.
But that's my speculation.
post 1- picture 1 is my house, if i zoom in youll see its a big cul-de-sac, and its 20 year old neighborhood, thus those roads have been on osm for a while, so everything tends to cluster around the cul-de-sac. The road to the north is a 12 lane free way with no side walks and businesses only on the north half of the 12 lanes. the reason they all cluster in that one spot, is if i drew a circle from my starting location that was the only part of the circle that would hit the free way. if i moved further north they would spread out a lot more
if i turn my camera you can see both spots at the same time.
oddly enough that giant looking road in the middle isnt on osm, so it has no effect on anything, its actually a neighborhood , but its ~~ ❤️ ~~ (less than 3) years old

the reason why they snap that way is because it uses the density/population data to snap roads when there's two major roads.
But once that dense population is out from the view/max distance for nodes, it goes back to the one big odd looking stick road.
Because walkable roads = have higher density population? Hence the snapping prioritize that?

I’m there with you. I’m pretty rural, and there aren’t many roads around my work. The closest roads are about 300m away, so the road snapping really hurts there.
My house actually improved with the update because I’m by a lake. Before, I couldn’t really hunt there at all because the lake would add about 300m to any node. Now that nodes can spawn in the water, it actually works great for me at home.
But then I go to work and it’s the complete opposite. Im not sure of the fix. I like this system better since I can at least do amities at both locations now kinda. Before I couldnt do them at home. I would have to get in a car and drive 500m away from the lake.
100% same boat (home better, work worthless), i just want something between feast and famine. I think the simplest solution is to color the mini games, and then not let any dynamic node snap to a road if it would naturally be <250m away.
this would also increase the ability to share 'couchable' hunts, as in every step is couchable, vs the current system of only being able to report if the red/blue witch is
Yeah I really hope we can figure out a way to keep the couchable amitiy parties. That part of the game was amazing.
If that goes away its going to be really hard for new orna players to get the good amities like all the OG's and I think it will hamper game growth.
Again, option 2 could potentially counter that, i feel a lot more people would be willing to walk if 99% of legendary werent trash.

This is purely anecdotal, but in the past 48 hours of me farming amities I'm found two 40% crit and a 25% accessory effectiveness, purely solo
looking at DM's specifically for amities, not necessarily for orns/mats

3rd mini games don't finish it, when you are at the next hour, you finish it and it instantly brings you to the final node of next
If you stop at final nodes, next hour you answer it, it will gives you amity from the next hour. I'm not sure whether is it from the same question/answer or randomly pick from that hour or same color.
I've used this to scout my next hour final nodes.
Or randomly get some amity that I can't couch.
Doing that used to give a different node than the hour it was on
11:59, start hunt and save last game
12:00 seeds change, complete it and get seed B
12:01 start new mem, get seed C for the rest of the hour

I've definitely noticed mild drift cause a very volatile change in my work building. I went from having the same couchable setup for 45 minutes to getting an entirely different couchable... Then random swapping between those and a third different couchable

right now there is correlation between answer - amity, at a "3x" rate.

Yes, seeds would reset again. They did recently, so not a huge loss from fat gathering standpoint from the community
Aethric crowd raised that they'd prefer seeds reset at the start of a week, rather than middle
Yeah seed reset is not a big deal since we've just recently reset them all. Especially if the reset leads us closer to a better system overall

Seeds come in 2 parts, the rewards, and the couchable, typically redoing the reward wouldnt change the couchable aspect...but we have 1 week of data, so by all means, toss it if it means better hunts
Can be tricky to jump in at times, but we're not ignoring the threads.
I'll reiterate that pushes for more couchability wouldn't be super attractive to us, and we're happy that this new system makes more sense for folks starting out.
We've done a middle ground approach on the available nodes already, unsure we're looking to increase couchability more atm
Giving more ability to target bonuses properly should go a long way though
while your here dangy, can you ask if distorted NM affect ornate rates or not, a coucple people have used 20+ and not seen any ornate so just wantting to check before we keep wasting them
My concern with the current implementation isn't to increase couchability in general, but that your OT's specific geography seems to drastically impact your couchability chances. Some people seem to have ~80% couchability while others have ~10% (obviously estimates but that's the ballpark)

I can definitely say that I have been on the feast side of feast or famine at both work and home in the new system. I've had the majority of 8am-5pm couchable this week.
That is also with some generous luck since most of my evenings have been non-couchable.
I think it is simply that my office building is on the intersection of two major streets, and my home has a large field to the east that has become something of a memory dead zone that pushes nodes to me.
Ornates should be accessible via Distorted Mnemonics. I hadn't heard anything about them being precluded

Hey I have idea - since we have 2 static witch huts - maybe some of minigames nodes (2 or 3 per step) should be also marked in diff color circle and static for all when rest can go all over the place, roads you name it.
It would be truly good for hunting community (possible to get few 100% couchable hours for anyone) and keep the safetynet road snapping other nodes.
I remind that they were to fix issues with private property or inaccessible area in hunts - my suggestion doesn't affect this change at all. Memories fixed for new players and scouting groups happy.

2 mini games at each step are static, but multiple people have said it would be nice if they were colored so we could tell easier.

If the answers get further boosted it would be great to have something in-game that indicates when you get a boosted bonus.
Wouldn't want to have to collect hundreds or thousands of data points per answer to figure it out.

Even something as simple as some text saying "answer aligned first bonus" would help a ton.
Both for casuals and more hardcore players that would want to document this.

there's private property we can't enter, closed roads, random fences, closed parks
and with amities by nature having so much rng in them it's really a pain
if all bonuses had less variance between them say 20-30-40 crit then it's less friction
but the bonuses have HUGE ranges it's just not realistic to walk

Only the first 3 out of the 8 steps of the distorted mnemonic were within reach. I used trinkets to make it even more obvious that the game loves to snap everything there
But there's so many roads... If I'm the AI, I can't choose one.
It's a 2 way highway with 2 roads in each side
I guess the game leans heavy towards that side cuz "there's more roads" but it's just car lanes

There's a notable amount of really hardcore players that do that.

that's still requiring 260+ people scouting in a coordinated effort to do that

and like, if you get 260+ people spending 1k DMs to get a single amity I think that's fine actually.

I can appreciate the positioning patch being for the large player base,
but when it comes to finding desirable amities the system is still flawed as Da Kat was saying.
If there's more changes to come that greatly reduce the RNG,
or at least designed for a person using 7-20 DMs per week for walks (non-couchables) being able to find a single amity they're searching for in a relatively timely manner (a few weeks or a month)
I could see the feature being much better
but as it stands, I still dunno anyone that would think non-couchables are a viable way for finding good multi-bonus amities.

The onlyn odd part is that in some places you get 95% couchability because of road snapping.
In other places you get 95% minigames and nodes spawn very far away.
Which is honestly not fair.

Main problem is that I'd consider myself in a good spot if we look at the roads from close by, unfortunately the game counts only the one loaded only once fully zoomed out, so even if I'm currently in the middle of a town I'm still messed up

It looks like the algorithm is skipping normal streets and goes for main communication roads, which are normally not properly "walkable".
Let's adjust the spawns so people don't end up in fields and woods in the middle of nowhere, let them run into an highway

I have good couchability because some madman mapped all the sidewalks in my city as separate paths instead of the roads being tagged as having sidewalks. Which looks really dumb on maps and screws up routefinding -.-

Today despite I am very close to several small streets, I see a drastical drop of couchable rate.

There is just something about this new system that makes it great for some people and bad for others, and I wish we could figure out what specifically it was.
Because overall for the majority of the playerbase that uses amities and walks around without hunting in Discord, it works great. Walking for amities has never been easier

So the feeling is that small streets (white ones in my map) are not liked by the system
Technically, around my house all the sidewalks are tagged as highway=footway
So if for some reason it was avoiding highway=residential, I wouldn't be affected either.

My house has secondary road , foot path, and residential....but it's 90% couchable rate there and multiple roads and round about close by

Right now a concern from our semi-anecdotal evidence is that it might not be pulling toward highway=residential for some reason
In my area all residential are marked "foot=yes" but the system does not like them
Since memories don't appear to spawn on the residential road next to Trex's work
I think for some reasons the system likes primary, secondary ~~ and terziary~~.
While residential and terziary are actually the most likely to be walkable.
Highway=path might not include all the other path.
Even just allowing a bit more of extra buffer on the range for each node could already help as some sort of mitigation of the "issue" while a final and improved solution is agreed
If the highway=path issue is solve, u might not need the range.
Yes but as the path issue may seem like something longer to deal with, an improved range of reach would be way easier to code
I just changed the road in front of my house from terziary to secondary and the nodes magically stick to it now

Yes that was a test and it just worked, but as said, the system should prefer minor roads, and skip primary or secondary, that are normally much dangerous, unless there is a footwalk or cycling roads close to it

FYI Orna's OSM data only updates very rarely, and intentionally putting wrong/incorrect data in OSM will get you banned from editing.
i tried to correct incorrect data from OSM three times by now and have never been successful haha

My map confirm that the nodes are snap to the nodes tag in OSM.
Which those map nodes at my place are mostly security gates.

Blue spawn on top of the fountain, 2 minigames spawn on top of the fountain, which is the node that is a security gate.
On my left there's actually 4 nodes on OSM. all those minigames are at those 4.
The reason why I notice is because my character always miss those minigames/nodes circle by a certain range.
Are those nodes consider part of the highway=path tags?

Moving locations and using a new dm fixed it
I needed to leave the party and start a new party. No restarts or new DMS fixed it. Ill check back next hour if I get a battle node to test
