#New Cool Status Idea

Having a spell like sands of aaru(that you can buy) that take 20% of hp and mana for 5% chance of inflicting 'bizarre' also the spell doesn't deal any damage.

Now what are the effects of 'bizarre'

  1. It cause class passives to not work properly.

  2. It reduce summon/follower ai and affects other classes key passive too.

  3. It can reflect your spells on you (just like confusion from pokemon). Though that wouldn't be that common.

  4. It'll mess with using consumable and spells like confusion too.

Proc rate could be reduced and having a spell that sacrifice both hp and mana could be cool.

We don’t need more statuses. Especially ones that work like confusion on steroids. This status looks like it’s more annoying than good.

that's why it only has 5% chance of proc and take both hp and mana so it's not very spammable

#

also status are usually just copy of another one but it's a bit unique

#

also it's not that annoying and many sources of immunities come with status

confused is lil unique

#

status that doesn't immobilize and doesn't deal dot

#

my intention was to make a good disruptive status

#

i can't deny that it's annoying it's meant to be like that

#

but low proc rate should be good enough

nah even 1% is good enough for me

#

but 5% is just so ppl can be little flexible with builds

#

i want it to be rewarding if you invested heavily on status build

#

not it being something like statis

#

that is overpowered with low investment

I always thought Curse was boring as-is and should reduce all passive chances by 50% instead, so I like that particular bit here.

Tempered ↓/↓↓ already deals with follower AI by simply stopping them from acting much. An equivalent for summons sounds nice, but they are already susceptible to existing status effects (Buggane beating the s*** out of you? Throw some sand in his face! Put that Ancient Dragon to bed with Sleep Dart, etc.)

Confusion sucks. Anything similar is a pass, for me.

Wouldn't be opposed to an effect that sealed off your items or most recent skill/spell, though. Could just call it "Sealed" and make that Arcane's thing.

I think this status could be better if you focus more on its identity. Right now it feels like it’s trying to do a bunch of uncorrelated debuffs. Focus on a few things you may want.

It seems like you want something that hinders strengths. Might I suggest sticking with 1 and 4:
Disables most class and subclass passives (notably wouldn’t hit things like flasks, second amities, apex, etc.), stops apex and flask charging (wouldn’t stop the current charge from being used), and gives a 50% chance of consumables failing to work (the stock isn’t decreased if this happens).

#

Number 2 just feels random unless they’re explicitly affecting the classes that use summons and followers, in which case that already is hit by number 1. Number 3 feels very random. Like it’s just thrown in there to mess with spells. Number 4. could be focused down to attacking the main way players fight off status effects. If someone has cleanse, good on them, but if you use this against a class that doesn’t have it, their only option is put behind a coin flip.

#

Lastly, I’m not sure about the cost. It feels kinda iffy especially since there are a lot of redline and blueline classes, so the cost almost feels like a boon. Make it cost like 200 mana, but also give it the mimic treatment of giving a chance to cause self confusion when cast. That puts a real detriment behind using it that could be offset with confusion-immunity armor (which you could suggest be added that also helps your status effect build).

and having these weird things is it's essence
