#Is Ashen Phoenix Dead?

I have stopped using it ever since they fixed an alleged bug when I am using RS.

I tried using 16 kerb eyes and it still doesn't buff for most of the dungeons with my mage build.

It's not as useful as before but still does the work for me at least when i use heretic

As Beo it now works about right, where as before it'd be every second / third turn

Ashen Phoenix drops very interesting gear for a permanent t10 World Raid
But with Power Creep, they have less uses, outmatched by some events

warped palm
#

With Deity
100 turns - 19 times DC

#

I will calculate with other classes too

#

Similar gear for everyone

#

Gilga 100 hits
18 DC

Title : "Is Ashen Pheonix dead ?"
Answer : Not dead, outdated

gusty crater
#

he's clearly talking about the pet, and you're talking about the gear

gusty crater
gusty crater
#

it will be the same for every class then, no ? (exept for beo obviously) why the need to test on multiple ?

#

if you're still testing, maybe trying smartAI could be of some use

#

smart AI from tower augment

#

i don't rememeber which one

warped palm
#

Oh

#

Same

broken thistle
gusty crater
#

but maybe trading some pet act for some smart AI could increase dc turns

#

Selene heart

gusty crater
broken thistle
#

now that's clear

#

but do remember that Pet AI only works with enough pet act

gusty crater
#

you could try a combination of selene lungs/shoulder and heart

broken thistle
#

but you lose 3 augments slots

gusty crater
#

wht ?

broken thistle
gusty crater
#

look his gear, you wouldn't lose much because 1 lungs + 1 shoulder = 6.5 eyes, you can add 3 "free" hearts

#

Why is the raid available all year and the pet just in the event?

timid mango
#

why would adding 30 percent prt act make it more likely for it to cast the buff, when it has 3 other spells? you're buffing the rate on all of those as well

gusty crater
#

because otherwise the pet wouldn't even be playing every turn (phoenix have very low base act)

timid mango
#

was more pointing out the methodology. to get more usable results you'd need to count turns with dc casted when there is no other possible action, I think (all enemies already dead)

#

as far as the original question, no I don't think the pet is dead at all, especially so for magic casters as 2 of its 3 attacks scale off magic buffs. the skills have good pen for finishing off second chancers, ward turn generation, good protect chance, and a 1 in 5 chance of double stats is I think still pretty good. that the follower is still so widespread makes it seem people agree

gusty crater
#

that's what smart AI is for, it will help phoenix to chose DC over other actions if you don't have the buff

timid mango
#

I'm still convinced that's placebo

#

is it really all that smart if it's making the follower cast a buff when there are enemies it can kill?

gusty crater
#

imo DC > killing an enemy. and for none beo, its damages aren't that good anyway.

random mesa
#

That is the point of that pet

#

My ortanite golem could attack instead of buff ward if theres a low enemy hp

#

That would be stupid because it has low damage and its job is to boost ward

timid mango
#

if that is the point of the pet, would you be fine removing the block chance and other skills from it?

#

also, the damage is actually pretty good if being used in a mage carry setting. and in pvp all you really need from a pet is 1 damage for second chancers

warped palm

#

We thief classes don't have a second chance or steadfast. Not having protect chance from phoenix is nothing much

timid mango
#

we're in agreement then. I would be happy to isolate its identity to dc machine

#

with other skill removal and the investment you referenced in the op (16 eyes) that'd be around 1 in 3 turns with dc casted, pretty good uptime with a pos effects amity I would think

I can confirm with BeoA or intelligence gear after the change phoniex will practically give you dc all the time and won't call it when it's already active unlike before. That with its bonds makes a pet + attack build viable especially in lower T10 where the extra defence helps alot. For raids a spiritgarm build is better though once you have enough defence from everything else
