You know what, I think Toppat King might be my favorite path in CtM

it feels the most like the vibe of the other games to me

the options have a good sense of variety

I don't think there's a single option here that I don't like

Also idk if it was intentional or not but I like the irony that in the past you used a tank to get to the ground from an aircraft in order to turn in the leader of the Toppats, but in this one you use a tank for the exact opposite

Hey, if you really think about it, if every ending is canon, then are none of the endings canon? As some endings, like revenged, would contradict every other ending where Henry is alive

Meaning that the only way for every ending to be canon is if all of them were canon IN THOSE TIMELINES

rather than them all being canon at once

(Also I’m kinda shocked with just how many references they managed to cram in without at least one of them crossing legal boundaries)

Which now that I think about it, the last ending where the chaos containment center resets the timeline I guess puts these all together

alright I'm gonna take a moment to chat a bunch

so I'm gonna talk about the CtM pathways and discuss what I like or don't like about the options

I wanna start by saying I really like Toppat King

literally every option has variety that makes each one feel like they aren't obvious choices

lots of good call backs like the wrist strapped grapple hook

I like how abandon feels like something Henry would legitamitely do

I must say I think some of the most genuinely interesting option scenes in the Henry series is when pretty much all the options are game references

because then it makes it harder to tell what's right or not since anything could cartoonishly go bad

moving on to Free Man, I think this one has some of my least favorite option pairings

a lot of the options in this one feel very "Escaping the Prison", granted it's fitting but it's still very odd

the first option feels like it struggles from a lot of "obvious stand out option" syndrome

like even from a cartoonish perspective why would they leave the remote you could use to undo the cuffs in the cell

Inner Strength is a fun choice though I do like that

the next criticism I wanna give this path is that it kinda just does an explosives joke twice, like even though one does it in a way that results in a different death I do feel like they're a bit too similar for being back to back

one thing I wanna compliment a lot of the correct options in certain paths of the series is when they don't feel too "cheaty" if that makes sense

a good example of a "cheaty" one to me would be something like flash from FtC

idk it's kinda hard to specifically state what I consider cheaty, but I like it when a sucessful option makes sense even if it is ridiculous

make a face also kinda falls into that category for me

and obviously I'm not even talking about stuff being too cartoony either, to perfectly explain what I mean I feel like sections 2 and 4 portray it pretty well

metal cap just feels like a bit too OP of an option that's basically just "be invincible"

and then 4 just kinda feels like it should make you ask the question of "why does he just conveniently have a nano-suit like that"

I feel like I am kind of contradicting myself a bit in saying I'm willing to accept cartoon logic while also being like "why can he just do that", but I feel like the Fallout suit in ItA did the whole "become invincible" thing way better

maybe it helps that the power armor scene is just way cooler lol

ok next I wanna talk about Brovert Ops

I really appreciate how similar to Infiltrating the Airship this one feels, moreso than VH honestly

I love the engine room options

overall a really solid path

moving on to TT, I'll start by saying that it definitely feels like the perfect balance between what you'd expect from working with Ellie and Charlie at the same time

I think my only complaint comes from the second option, which feels like one of the only instances in the game where two options kind of reference the same game? Idk I don't really like that because it makes it feel like a hint

especially when Ellie's option of climbing down and running doesn't even really feel like something that'd be specific to her, the swapping mechanic in general kinda just feels like a useless little gag to me. It's fun and all don't get me wrong, the achievement is funny too. I just think maybe it could've been executed a little more interestingly that's all

other than that I think the character synergy across all the trio is really good

I think it goes without saying that SSR is a good one, I'd say pretty much all of it is perfect

some of the fails do feel a little mediocre, but honestly I think the fact it gives off StD vibes makes it fit well

I think if I had any complaints to say about JB it was how I think it's made a bit too obvious that Puff just really skipped over the whole "getting to the emerald" part with the teleporter

Like it makes sense and I don't expect him to actually do that whole path, I just feel like it teases a bit much with Henry actually looking at the map and like pointing out the route and such
