you're probably not actually reset. there's a lot of glitch lobbies right now. it makes it look like you are level 1 again... and you gain levels again. whatever you gain while in a glitch lobby adds to whatever you had before, even if you were level 100. this is how people have been bypassing the max level

imo i discourage it UNLESS theres some sort of coordination with said partner. like if im near my ss partner and theyre shifted as me and kill, ill chase them if theres multiple crew nearby. its a sort of soft clear

i usually play 1 imp so take whatever i say here lightly but i think its a good idea if you put some thought into it

i've done it to try to "clear" my partner if they catch some sus... but it's tricky to pull off RIGHT. the only way it works for me to consider it a success is if my partner and i are seen together, WHILE i am shifted as my partner, and there has to be at least one witness that survives, and ideally i kill someone in front of people and make a run for it, and my partner doesn't kill (or killed earlier and isn't associated with the double sighting )

I think shapeshifting into your impostor partner is a tactic that hinges entirely on situational awareness, timing, and an advanced understanding of how information travels between players, otherwise you'd be busted. It's not inherently good or bad: it just has a very narrow window where it becomes functionally advantageous. The core issue is that when you shift into your partner without coordination, you're introducing a variable they can't or account for in their positioning, pathing, or alibi.

That is VERY risky because it disrupts the narrative consistency. If someone later compares timelines and something doesn't line up, (such as…) your partner claiming to be in O2 while “they” were seen in Storage - it causes contradictions that will get you both caught.

That said, there are legitimate strategic applications. If your partner is under suspicion, shapeshifting into them and getting seen elsewhere can act as a deliberate misclear… but only IF it's done in a way that doesn't frame them for the kill you're about to commit.
So, the positioning has to be VERY precise. Ideally, they're in a group that can hard-clear them at that moment, and you create a second instance of them doing something so incriminating, but only seen by people who don't know the real one's location.

That way, suspicion is cast on the identity, not the player. But that scenario requires an understanding of player vision cones, timings, and how many seconds it takes for people to move from place to place… otherwise the desync gets noticed.

There's also the issue of witness survival. If nobody survives to relay the fact that “two of X were seen,” the shift loses its narrative impact. Conversely, if too many witnesses survive and cross-reference, it can quickly unravel.

And if your partner kills while you're shifted into them, then you lose all the narrative control, and then suddenly it's not a misclear or a confusion tactic, it's just a disaster.

Here is a strategy you can do Among randoms, to start a lobby of your preferred settings.. its called BaitAndSwitch.. you must First make a lobby but with settings that most people like, even if you don't like them.

You play 2 games of those "bait settings" before starting 2nd round put it in private. At end of 2nd round as lobby refreshes, put your prefferred settings then hit public

Imps start with a small advantage and have to act decisively to not allow crew to erode that advantage via task pressure.

is that even if one makes a misplay or gets voted out, then its just 1 imp with less players to kill

e.g. if you double kill and ur teammate is caught, now its 1 imp against 6 people instead of 1 imp against 9

Imagine a situation where kill cd is 30s and meeting cd is 25s on skeld. 1 impostor and 2 crewmates left right after a meeting ended. Should be a pretty easy win for imp right? Just wait for kill cd to get to like 7 seconds left and then sabotage reactor.
And yet I still see people sabotage reactor instantly right after the meeting, reactor gets fixed, meeting gets called and crewmates win.

This whole thing just makes the game way less fun and way more frustrating than it should be. Like, how are we supposed to play a discussion-based game when there's barely any time to actually discuss anything? People are out here setting meetings to like 15 seconds of discussion and 30 seconds of voting, and then acting shocked when no one gets to explain themselves or give info.

Then they go and boot someone just because they didn't vote fast enough, even if that person was literally mid-typing or trying to explain something. It's not even fair at that point, it's just lazy.

And don't even get me started on the quiet lobbies. People acting like typing a single sentence is a life-or-death struggle, and then wondering why crewmates lose constantly. It's like, if nobody talks, how the hell are we supposed to figure anything out? Everything turns into a guessing game where the first person to say “it's red” gets the whole lobby on their side.

And if you do try to talk or defend yourself, the timer's already ticking down, and people insta-vote you just because they don't want to wait. It seriously ruins the whole point of the game. If you don't want to talk, don't play a fucking social deduction game.

Like someone will hard accuse a crewmate, the crewmate gets voted, and then next round the accuser says, “Oops I made a mistake lol,” like it's a minor typo and not a game-ruining decision.
