fr cause like, since the mod i use will automatically punt you if you say start, and the welcome message WARNS you that you'll get kicked if you nag me to start, youd think that youd have a bit of patience. i want the lobby to fill up and to be able to get the informational message with house rules/info out, have enough time for people to read it, and yet, as the timer counts down to start, some sack of wet mice says START and stops the start timer.

and then theres the people that, despite me telling them to finish their tasks before hopping on cams, get on cams round one anyway. usually if I catch an imp red handed killing someone in cams early game, I didnt see anything. ;)

That honestly just highlights how little awareness some players have when they join lobbies.
Like - if you’re ignoring the welcome message, blatantly spamming “start” the second you load in, and then get confused when you get booted… that’s on you.
Hosts aren’t just stalling for fun; there’s usually a reason, like getting out role explanations or just trying to fill the game properly. If your attention span can’t survive 30 seconds without mashing “start,” maybe you’re better off in Quick Chat lobbies, not custom ones with actual structure.

Yeah and theres times too where I'm helping people who want their names to be a different color, people are making small talk, and then the start goblins make it take that much longer for me to get the game going.

And yeah, the quick chat goblins are another level, I'm talking about the ones that will accuse with no evidence/spout out COMPLETELY RANDOM sentences that have no bearing, and overall just dont contribute to either side, especially since my meetings are 90 seconds total and we discuss a LOT of stuff in a typical dead body meeting

Oh, and the people who will just waltz in, ask me to change the number of Impostors, and expect me to just do it like that. And 99 percent of the time its quick chat. I dont change my settings upon request, and it should be common knowledge that at the end of the day, the host can do whatever they want with their lobby so as long as theyre not being a complete prick.

Yeah, I feel that entirely. Hosting a lobby isn’t just pressing “Start” and letting chaos happen - it takes effort to create a decent experience for everyone.
People don’t realize that when they barge in spamming demands or throwing around baseless accusations with no context - especially in Quick Chat-only lobbies - they’re not just annoying, they’re wrecking the atmosphere the host is trying to build.

You’re setting the tone, trying to keep things balanced, and suddenly you’re swarmed with players who treat the lobby like a vending machine for their preferences. And yeah, while the host does have full control, that doesn’t mean they’re tyrants - it just means they’re trying to keep it all running smoothly without being walked all over. There’s nothing wrong with some structure and standards.

There have been a few people who have commented that I'm doing too much/too rigid with how I structure things in my lobbies- I try to keep things reasonable: I still allow cams (within reasonable boundaries), self reports and afk kills are fine, and just dont make things annoying for either side.

If I could, I'd tell them to find a random lobby and play a few games in a wack ass unstructured hellhole and report back to me.

Then here’s the truth - people whining about “rigid lobbies” are usually the ones who can’t handle being held to a basic standard. They want the freedom to do whatever they want without any structure, but the moment the game turns into an incoherent mess, they’re the first to rage quit or blame everyone else.
Hosting with order doesn’t mean micromanaging, it means filtering out the nonsense.
And if they can’t deal with a lobby that actually expects a little bit of effort or respect for the host’s time, they don’t belong in a lobby at all.

Let them run around in the unmodded dumpster fires they prefer - see how long they last before crying about “broken lobbies” or “dumb players.”
Structure filters out the people who can’t even follow the basics. That’s not rigidity - it’s self-preservation.

Yep, the constant talk of horrible lobbies/players here and in other places... further proves that finding a lobby with a no-nonsense host and a majority of players being at least super decent is like a breath of fresh air. It makes me smile when people come in and recognize me, knowing that I dont tolerate typical -4 IQ nonsense thats found in your average Skeld lobby lmao

I've also met some great people who host similarly. With the filter system its easier to find some of these great people- generally in vis off lobbies

Filters did their job too well - now you just see how bad the actual pool is.
You’re not wasting time anymore, sure, but it also shows that decent lobbies are basically nonexistent unless you host it yourself or get lucky.
It’s less “quality over quantity” and more “no options at all.”

Yeah, you can mod Among Us without using Polus.gg. You just have to go the manual route - install BepInEx into your game directory, then drop the mod’s .DLL files into the plugins folder.
It works fine if you’re doing local games or private lobbies with people using the same setup.

Most of the mods people use publicly are built on BepInEx anyway, Polus.gg just simplifies the process.
The downside is that if you’re playing without Polus, you’ve got to be sure everyone in the lobby is running the exact same version of the mod or it’ll break things. Also, public servers won’t support this and might even kick or ban you.

Just make sure whatever you download is from a trusted source - GitHub, official Discords, or dev-released links. Random sites offering mods tend to come with junk you don’t want.

I was talking about something on the other day about how we've been trying endlessly to try to get on innersloth's attention about a major issue but it doesn't seem like it even did anything. Innapropiate lobbies has been plaguing the game so much with predatory people to innocents in the game yet we've been told that the community manager is "always" working on it yet it wasnt a geninue response at all.. once you get banned off the lobby for not having a bad name you CANNOT report someone, thats a major flaw.

I just dont want the Game go down by the inappropriate lobbies becuase people are still creating lobbies with under 4 People with Skeld on 1 Impostor.
When you join a Lobby, it justs get banned from the lobby for no reasons. It just keep requires people with inappropriate names in the game.

I get where you're coming from… there has been a pattern with low-quality lobbies, random bans for no reason, and the same bad behavior cycling for years. It can get frustrating, especially when it feels like the reporting system doesn't lead to meaningful change.

The moderation tools and lobby filtering definitely need serious upgrades, and it's not just a minor inconvenience anymore - it's a core issue that affects how the game is experienced.
But at the same time, it's worth remembering that Among Us isn't a heavily monetized, constantly-patched title with a massive moderation staff. Innersloth's a small team, and they’ve clearly tried things like filters and stricter systems - just not nearly enough.

So yeah, the issue is definitely valid, and a real fix needs to come, but it’s probably going to take a while, and in the meantime, players have to do their part too: trying to host properly, trying to report if they have the chance to, and avoid feeding into the chaos.

More revenue means faster dev cycles, better server upkeep, and ideally better support systems.
And the thing is, yes - ads can suck. Nobody wants their lobby interrupted with a forced 15-second trailer for some mobile casino scam.
But if it's non-intrusive (like a banner after a match or something skippable), and it directly boosts the dev team's capacity to fix the stuff we've all been complaining about (security, bans, reports, lobby abuse), then it's honestly a fair tradeoff.

That usually happens when: (Your account isn't linked or you're not logged in and/or your date of birth on the account is set to under 13.)
To fix it: Log into your actual Among Us account if you're not already. If you're under 13, you're locked to Quick Chat due to COPPA laws - there's no way around that unless a parent/guardian changes the settings through the parent portal (if supported).

If it's a glitch, try restarting the game or checking your settings. But 90% of the time, it's the age restriction or being logged out.

When I play with my usual crew, we kind of have a "no afk" rule unless it's a legit reason. Faking it is not allowed. Lieing about being AFK is also not allowed.

I'm big on not ratting out partners, but I had a partner who was AFK until me and our other partner got ejected. So I ratted them out before getting ejected and only then they moved- and got confused when the crew called a meeting to boot them.

If your partner's gonna sit AFK the entire game and only snap back when they're the last one left, that's not teamwork - that's dead weight. Ratting them out isn't betrayal at that point, it's damage control. You were already screwed, might as well call it what it is. If they can't contribute, they shouldn't expect loyalty.

Yep. I have my mod set up to tag and kick AFK players after certain intervals of time. If theyre really AFK for long, they will leave eventually- either releasing a hold on the task bar or done being deadweight for their imp partner. It should be a vanilla feature, the afk kick

An AFK auto-kick timer should've been built into the base game ages ago. It's not even about punishing people - it's about keeping the match playable. Dead weight drags down everyone's experience, especially in tightly paced games. Let the system handle it so hosts don't have to babysit.

Furthermore, I'll start banning players who fake/pretend to be AFK to catch the Impostor off guard.

I only have 1 exception and that is to not kill them on Round 1, ONLY. After that I don't give a damn about AFK players anymore, the Impostors are more than welcomed to get rid of those players first because if they're seriously going to AFK the entire match they gotta go, especially if it's the final 5, and 2 imps left, and the 2 crewmates know who the Impostors are but the other crew is AFK and both Imps tied the vote sabotaged comms and killed one of the 2 to win, pathetic. That's gonna end, now, starting when I begin hosting my lobbies again with a fresh set of rules that are ACTUALLY FAIR.

I've always leaned toward the idea that crewmates aren't fully human either - something about their proportions and the way they move just screams “bioengineered space critters” to me.
Like maybe they were human at some point, but evolved or were modified for deep-space life: shorter frames for cramped ships, simplified suits, minimal features.
It kinda makes more sense than sending toddlers to fix reactors. The mystery's half the charm though.

So far, officially, the crewmates in Among Us are never confirmed to be human. They're just referred to as “crewmates,” and Innersloth has purposely left a lot of it vague to leave room for interpretation.
Their short height (around 3 feet) and lack of visible features under the suit make them feel more like simplified beings - either aliens adapted for space labor or highly stylized humans.

As for the impostors, there's even more to support the idea that they're not just evil crewmates. The animations show them stabbing through with an extending tongue, or even shape-shifting - none of which are remotely human traits.
So the theory that they're alien parasites or creatures impersonating crew is actually consistent with what's shown.

In fact, the shapeshifter role is described as an alien organism by Innersloth. So yeah - impostors being something non-human is not just a theory - it lines up with what's actually in the game.

There's just so much freedom when it comes to Among Us Ocs. The game barely gives you any hard rules to follow, which honestly makes it more fun to imagine your own stuff. Like, are they human? Maybe. Could they be lab-grown? Alien? Robots built for maintenance? All of it kinda fits. That mystery leaves the door wide open.

Same with impostors too: are they parasites? Shapeshifting predators? Failed experiments? You can take the lore wherever you want, and it still feels like it belongs.
That's what makes creating OCs in this game actually exciting. You're not boxed in. It's all vibe-based.
