They’re only annoying if the lobby isn’t built to handle them. Shapeshifters add misdirection, but they’re meant to shake up stale gameplay.

If your group isn’t used to deduction beyond “I saw X kill,” then yeah, they’ll feel frustrating. But they’re totally optional - just a setting.

If we eventually get something like 4 or 5 Impostor roles, I'll run tests on each one and see who stays and who doesn't.

Or mix them up here and there for even more chaos.

I do wish setting a regular Impostor was a chance.
Like, you can choose the amount of SS and Phantom rn, and whoever is left out gets classic imp.
What if Impostor had an option like that too? Kinda like, to have 3 Impostors, but only 2 of those had special abilities.

That’s actually a smart take. Being able to fine-tune which impostors get roles and which stay vanilla would add a lot of balance and strategy control.
Right now it’s all-or-nothing with role assignment, and sometimes you want just one special imp in the mix to spice things up, not a full circus.
Giving hosts the ability to assign, say, 2 role-based impostors and 1 regular would make setups way more flexible without overwhelming the lobby.

I really hope we get advanced lobby settings one day.

Imagine having legitimate (and fun) control without creating weird rules, just letting the game be the game in a fair way.

Yeah, exactly - half the problem right now is people making up clunky rules to compensate for the lack of actual settings.
If the game just gave hosts more refined tools, like toggles for role limits, task balance, vision tweaks by role, or voting behavior presets, there’d be way less arguing and confusion mid-lobby.

People want control without needing to micromanage or write a rulebook in the lobby chat - just let the settings speak for themselves.

A minimum level to enter a certain lobby would also help in some way too.

The one thing I really hope gets added, is to disable dead Impostors' ability to still sabotage.
I don't care if there would be literally nothing to do, it often barely helps.

Better just leave that to the still alive one.

I just had a (terrible) idea to discourage people from abandoning mid-game.

Those are basically dirt cheap unless one keeps and keeps leaving, only selecting Impostor games that end in victory.

If an impostor’s dead, they’re basically just a spectator at that point.
Still letting them sabotage kinda feels off - it’s like they’re out, but still messing with the game. Doesn’t really sit right when you think about it.

The ones still alive should be the ones doing the work. Otherwise, it just feels like the game’s still being controlled by someone who’s already been taken out.

But for GA... That's the entire purpose of it, and without dead Crewmates doing tasks, the game will go on forever.

Mhm, GA and dead crewmates actually still have clear, needed roles. But with dead impostors, it’s different. Their sabotage can easily mess with the pacing or even throw off the other impostor’s flow.
I’ve had games where my partner went down early and started spamming sabotages nonstop - it didn’t help, it just made things worse.

At least give us the option to toggle it off in the settings so we can better control the dynamic depending on how the lobby wants to play.

At times you can even save the game.
It all depends on how someone uses it.

It's THE counter to: Engineer, Scientist, Tracker, Guardian Angel, Camera campers, Admin table... Basically almost everything.

Also, Comms sabotage prevents players from seeing their remaining tasks on the map. You can still do them, but have to guess where they are, or wander around until you spot one.

There are host only mods where mobile games can join. Town of Host Enhanced is one example.

I'm not so keen on those.

Then there are the mods for PC only, as the client and host both need them. Town of Us. That's my fav by far.

How do you do all that? I’ve got a laptop and played a few times on there but it’s really broken 😂 so I’m looking at getting a new one. My mate had already got among us on the old laptop so I haven’t a clue how to go about it 🤦🏼‍♀️

You download the mod and install it into the Among Us folder. It's quite simple most of the time. Currently it's a bit more hassle as it only works on an old beta build, but it's easy enough to get working. The new version, Town of Us MIRA, just works with the current version of the game, so is far easier to get working. It's new though, so has bugs that still need to be fixed.

If you need help, I can DM some instructions on getting Town of Us working. You'd probably need to join/find servers where it is played though. My guess is you'll mostly get vanilla servers here.

I'm working on my rank as I'd like the flexibility for both - finding vanilla games and being able to play modded.

Yeah, this is where the whole “no AFK kills” rule starts to fall apart under any kind of real scrutiny. Sure, it sounds like it’s meant to be respectful, but in practice it’s just vague and inconsistently enforced.
If someone has to AFK mid-round, that’s just part of the risk - the game doesn’t stop for real life. Impostors are supposed to take opportunities. If you’re standing still in a hallway for 30 seconds, of course you’re going to get clipped.
And the whole “wait until everyone’s ready” excuse? That’s on the host - it’s their job to delay the start, not to punish players for playing how the game is meant to be played.

And let’s be real - people who enforce this rule usually aren’t doing it out of fairness. They’re doing it because they don’t want to die early, and the rule conveniently protects them.
It’s subjective, unfair, and just adds unnecessary tension for players trying to play normally. If you’re AFK and get killed, that’s on you.
If you’re the host and want to protect people like that, maybe reconsider playing public games at all.

Again, this is typical for a public lobby. Still wanted to point that out.
