It adds a bit to inmersion when you're going according to the map:
Skeld can be almost anything.
Mira HQ suits scientists better.
Polus for the cozy and winter outfits
Airship for the toppats (or top hats for those who don't know Henry Stickmin)
Fungle for camping or survivor skins, maybe a fishermen or 2.

Or else people can get banned.

But my question is is it really worth the ban? I understand it’s up to the host, but some of my impostoring strategies I like using feel limited with all the above taken away.

It depends, honestly. I personally set a rule that cams can only be used when youre done with tasks, and its to aid both sides- it gives Impostors some leverage to be able to not worry about cams for a few rounds, and it allows crew to work towards a task win and not have to deal with one person holding up the bar because theyre sitting on cams. But I think no cams is way too far.

No snitching is pretty obvious. Its very rude and can cost you and your partner(s) the game because youre salty about being ejected. It's unfair to them.

No self reporting is absolute BS imo. I've used selfing as a strategy before and if done right, it can help you gain trust with crewmates!

Dead sabs... im mixed on it. Same with afk kills.

That way it’s not hard for impo to make a kill, and also doesn’t ruin the purpose of having cams available. But don’t defend them either, or else if they do get voted, you’re likely next. That can be 2 killers out early which is also bad.

Theres a difference between saying that its your partner and going along with the crew to save yourself. Saying that your partner did an impostor action isnt snitching if you were around crew when it happened, or your partner is sussed out. Here’s an important rule I would say. That is don’t take the game personally. That includes hosts. It also includes anything having to do with common expert rules. Because if Innersloth allows you to do any of them, players can literally just do it. I’m just concerned on how many good players are being wasted from good lobbies for just simple stuff, even if they achieve a win from their own team. I would rather just play on whatever it takes to win.

Personally, I think every host does have the right to set lobby expectations, but I also believe hard-banning players for minor rule breaches—especially subjective ones like “no self-reporting”—can create a stifling, overly strict environment that punishes creativity. Among Us thrives on deception, adaptation, and unpredictability, so it’s worth balancing structure with freedom.

On the topic of cams, I strongly agree with setting some form of regulation, but not full removal. A cooldown or task-based unlock (like “cams only after 75% task completion”) would go a long way in balancing gameplay. Complete cam bans strip crewmates of a critical tool, especially on maps like Skeld where camera visibility can be key. The suggestion to give hosts toggles for cam settings in the lobby menu is something I absolutely support—it adds flexibility and lets lobbies tailor the experience to their playstyle.

No snitching is 100% valid in my opinion. If you get voted out, it’s done—taking your teammate down just because you’re mad is childish and ruins teamwork. I do think there’s nuance though—if someone is suspicious of their partner based on in-game logic, and they voice that mid-round with valid context, that shouldn’t count as snitching. What is snitching is outright betrayal out of spite or desperation after being caught.

Moving on… (yes if you love typing then you shouldn’t have a problem reading all this…) Self-reports being banned is ridiculous to me. It’s a classic strategy. Like one of you said, selfing well is a skill—it takes awareness and finesse. Banning it limits depth for Impostor play and removes one of the few misdirection tools at their disposal.

Dead sabotages I’m more neutral on. I get both sides: they can help a teammate clutch a round, but without voice or clear coordination, they can absolutely backfire. If a dead partner keeps spamming sabs in the wrong places or at the wrong times, it can ruin tempo or waste opportunities. I’d personally allow them, but maybe encourage players to coordinate timing if they’re in voice or a regular group.

(Continuing as usual…) AFK kills are a bit more controversial, but I lean toward allowing them. Being AFK doesn’t make you immune, and impostors should have the freedom to choose who they kill. That said, farming AFK players at the start of a round over and over can become a lazy habit that ruins fun—so moderation is key.

There’s already something done about players leaving mid game. The devs implemented a limit within a certain amount of time people can leave a game in progress. If you do that I think it’s after 3 games in a row, there will be a message that says “you cannot join another game for x minutes after intentionally disconnecting.” It might also count for people who just lose internet connection and the game kicks them out.

Yeah, I think taking the concept of what the scientist role has (a task-based timer) is a good idea, but I think a toggle setting would also work, like the host should check a box if they allow cams or whatever freely or lock it behind a certain task completion threshold. And yes, also a cooldown timer like scientist has. Max should be 30 seconds IMO

In-map vitals and admin should also have the cooldown/toggle.

banmod has a feature that tags a player AFK after 30 seconds of not moving, and auto kicks after 2 minutes. (Adjustable) So, everyone can tell when a players been AFK killed. I dont outright ban for those, its a case by case basis (especially since taking >30s on a node or the start reactor task will tag you as AFK.) But yeah, constant AFK killing is a red flag.

And I definitely agree. Theres a huge difference between going with the flow and just straight up saying "fine im impostor so is X" when X hasn't been sussed at all.

I always remind people that, in a 2 or 3 imp game, that its a team effort. Even if you're ejected, it's important to remember that impostor, just like crew, is a team effort. Just because you've been caught and are no longer able to kill doesn't mean your partner(s) won't be able to secure a victory- you're still on the screen in that case.

But I knew that it would make me look bad the more I let it happen. So eventually, I stopped playing with him for a good amount of time until one night, he finally asked why I wasn’t playing with him in the same lobby. So I invited him to a private lobby to discuss in private and make it clear that teaming is not my thing at all, and told him to stop. And then he did.

I forgot where to report stuff but I may or may not have found the first issue

So I played a few games and I got pods and when I tried to buy stuff it didnt let me because I "didn't have enough", so I restarted the game with 341 and got back in with me being logged out for some reason? And when I log back in I only have 141 somehow it took 200 away

Also, pods aren't that hard to obtain either.

On average from what I remember, one gets between 90 to 120 pods per game, not to mention the multiplier if the player levels up.

But most mods should have install instructions on their github page.

The typical process is: duplicate your among folder elsewhere, drag and drop the zipped files into the duplicated among us folder, run the among us executable in that duplicate folder

Some mods do it differently. Also be warned that you should never run a mod from untrusted sources, you are running someone else's code on your machine.

don't worry. it's a glitched lobby. it happens occasionally. any levels you gain while in a glitched lobby will add to whatever you had before. even if you were at the normal max of 100. that's how people get past level 100 is via glitched lobbies
