It's not a guarantee, but when lobby is just started try swapping between public/private often. It sounds dumb, but I do have more luck getting the first batch of players by doing that.

You might also need to run a 1 imp game with 4-8 players when the timer gets low just to "save" the lobby.

After you have 7ish players it fills up faster. Then you deal with a couple dummies for a game or two.

Once you have enough in a lobby to stay close to full, the dumbest will self-filter themselves out by quitting midgame, or being annoying enough to justify kicking them to make room for hopefully someone more fitting the vibe.

It does take a fair time investment to get a comfortable lobby running.

Once you hit enough players to stay consistently full lobby, I suggest you kick people who say start.

The ones who say start correlate with being more likely to leave the game when they don't get a role they want.

Not ALL people who say start do this, but it's a common enough trend that you can get better overall games by kicking the most likely to leave.

With 3 impostors, the game is near impossible to balance. It's either going to be imps getting all voted ASAP or crewmates not voting enough on little evidence before it's impossible for crewmates to win.

So around 12 players is a sweet spot to not be too many for the more reasonable to balance 2 imp games.

KCD low means too many die too fast with more than 1 imp around.

KCD high means 1 imp can't kill fast enough to outmaneuver a lot of crewmates.

3 imp games require high KCD for 3 imps then low KCD once down to 1 imp. Which is something you can't change mid-game. So 3 imp needs cotradictory settings within one game for balance.

This game needs a time limit. When there's a crewmate who refuses to complete tasks and so the solo imp who is 1v6ing doesn't need to do anything the game drags on for wayyyy too long.

And sometimes this just kinda happens with crew who just refuse to do tasks in general in favor of "playing detective" (don't do that btw, tasks are the primary win condition)

Having 2 meetings gives crewmates more chances to share important info (e.g., clearing someone or revealing sus movement). Correct a bad vote or suspicion from earlier. React to sabotages or weird behavior (like fake tasks or venting).

Meetings are not only for dead bodies being found. Emergency meetings can also be used strategically

What I do is I lurk around someone and keep an eye on them from a distance and then I follow them but don't make it noticeable. Act like you're doing tasks around where they are. When you and that person has been alone for some time then lock them in the room, call comms sabotage then shapeshift into the person you just locked in a room and go do a kill as them but don't make it too obvious but also make sure someone sees you as the other crewmate. The crew will have no alibi from others or Vitals or admin map. It's genius

Comms is easily the worst sab to call on Polus. I might even go as far to say it is worse than not calling a sab at all. The fix is usually instantaneous.

I play skeld and what I often do and it’s a bit risky but if we are all on the left side, I call comms and always try and not be the first in the group to get there, i purposely go a bit slower and usually there is always someone behind the group coming, I kill them in storage as rest of group is ahead of me and after comms is fixed I lock storage and we all discover the body.

Yes it is a flawed method and there is always the chance of someone from admin coming into storage and seeing me kill but it has worked in my favour a lot of time. Usually crew sus anyone who came late or did not come comms at all

Does self report also include reporting other impostor kills? I’ve been in expert lobbies that say no imp reports at all. It was a regular game no sns or 0cd.

Imo that rule is balanced in a bigger map and not a map like skeld. Yes games on skeld tend to be somewhat quick but in the odd occasion where the game is going super slow, crew can whittle down who the potential imps may be based in who has reported bodies

Yep and that is one of the drawbacks of self reporting especially late game. Early on everyone is usually busy with tasks and not always checking vitals if they are scientist.

And with vitals it’s there is a really small window of error and very small, it’s happened before where an imp has killed and vented and crew found the body all in the space of like a second. It’s rare but it happens but most of the time vitals is correct on the self report basis
