wording in several different places in the comic indicate that host and parasite are 2 different consciousness' (ha. ha. conscience. why are there so damn many "con" words ) sharing a body, but only one of them can be "in control" at a time. (on top of that King indicates that the parasite can go completely dormant. for reasons i don't know... and when they are dormant the host is not aware of the parasite, aside from thinking it's potentially mental illness). on the flip side of that, Con doesn't even seem to realize this, ("Host?") despite him having been infected long enough to not be in "rawr seeker mode" anymore. i have noticed him mentally "talking to himself" a few times ("don't let him get away with this, I want him to suffer", "because you're not a complete monster") ... in a manner that seems to indicate that it's the mostly suppressed "voice" of the host speaking to the currently in control parasite...

but i have no idea how any of that relates to teh name "Con"....

Mine in their natural state don’t really, at least in the way humans do. Once they infect someone though they sometimes take on that bean’s gender. (There’s some mutual exchange going on with my parasites and hosts)
I also sometimes think it’s fun to headcanon beans as having a different concept of gender than humans, but since I’m also a writer a lot of them have gendered pronouns because dealing with up to 15 characters and trying to avoid pronouns or use they for everyone gets confusing haha.

phil does know what miss is feeling and thinking at all times, and typically shares her opinions, but he is free to feel or think whatever he wants. his kind of parasite kind of works like a seeker; infect a host, host goes rampant and hopefully spreads the infection, host dies and pray you can infect someone else.
but since miss is a crewshifter (CLOSED species owned by a friend), the infection was different and he managed to fuse with miss instead, allowing him to grow to his full potential (thus his higher intelligence)

her parasite form is basically just phil taking over completely (which is still a huge upgrade because he is significantly better at fighting hilariously enough), where him and her kind of share their brain. in said form he can speak english (but typically avoids speaking) and read basic words. he also gets full control of the body and miss sees the world through the eyes on their tendrils (like how phil normally does). phil is very fond of miss though so he never really uses this form unless miss is going to die or he wants to spare her some pain

There's a hint for Polus there too lol. For a 2 imp game, you need 7 players. Or else it's a 1 imp game. So the minimum number of crewmates I have to have present in any storyline is 5, if there's 2 imps.

Lore-wise, if you think of them as predator and prey, it also makes sense.

Imps would be more attracted to groups of crewmates large enough to not have to fight over "food", and small enough to stand a chance at not being caught.

I've done some fun things with hints based on game mechanics, there was a subtle hint as to who one of my impostors was based on impostor vision distance

Lights were out, imp wasn't revealed yet, but the impostor coud sprint around like nothing while the crewmate couldn't see.

Also when playing my imp characters in game, I ignore lights sabotage. Because it's easy for an imp to not even notice lights are out!

In my case the lights thing was kinda tricky. I had two unrevealed impostors alone in a room together during a lights sabotage, and the "lights didn't go out". There were no crewmates there to say otherwise, so it was chalked up to a technical issue, until of course their roles came to light. (Pun not intended lol)
