the only reasons private matches should ever be moderated is when someone is being predatory or causing harm

The thing is that "harm" can happen at any time, even with people you know, hence why all lobbies are monitored. This is something you consented to when you first launched the game.

Bans can be appealed, so there's always that option. That's why they have human moderators to review all cases, as they can understand the context of what's being said!

This system has been in use for a long while now when the game was VR only, and the system works well for it's purposes. When you enter a game you are using the devs' space to play, meaning that you agree to follow their rules and are subject to their moderation system. This is just something you have to respect if you play the game. If you have any feedback, the devs are open to hearing it, just make sure you send it through #contact-3d-support . As they said in the blog post, they're not perfect, it's an iterative process, and they're listening to the feedback everyone gives!

Only way to do something similar as far as I know is enabling or disabling "Hide my username" in Gameplay options.

If it's enabled, your name will be the color you have:
If you're playing as your name will be "Lime"
If you're playing as your name will be "Gray" (I'm not lying)
And so on.

Ooo I remember one of our devs talking about this. Due to the visual differences in the VR space and 3D, sometimes colors don’t translate 100%. So the black color in 3D is like an approximation between black and gray from the original game. And gray was chosen as the name.

It's mentioned in their recent blog post that Private Lobbies are not exempt from the code of conduct, hence why all lobbies are subject to the same level of moderation.

They have a human moderation team that reviews reports and ban appeals, so they can review the context under what things were said

thats a pretty bad excuse, cause it still interupts everything for a decent while as you get unbanned, it will kill player counts as people wait for their friends to get unbanned, and means people will just want to find ways around the system using mods, if you want an actually effective method of moderation, forcing everyone under strict guidlines is not the way to go. I dont think anybody would be mad about it if it was just slurs or really bad stuff, but this just means that work around will be found.

I know that I will be holding off from buying the game until they fix this problem, and im sure many others are as well.

The developers need to keep their game a safe space for everyone, and not every game is built for every person. If you don't like the way the game is moderated, you can either just a) not play, or b) find a workaround (like using discord voice chat to play!)

there are plenty of other platforms like discord they could use for illegal stuff. swearing is only a problem if there are people made uncomfortable by it (such as public lobbies) but only stuff like slurs and hate speech need to be moderated in private lobbies. nobody is harmed by swearing at all in private lobbies, its just a stupid rule that is going to kill the game.

Some moderation is fine, however, this is excessive moderation that's somehow supposed to keep people "safe." It's the same crap Activision pulled with later Call of Duty titles. If you mean something like a game modification, I'm not sure if people are making those for 3D quite yet. Best thing I could recommend as a workaround would be to mute yourself in game and communicate through a discord VC with your friends when playing in a private lobby. Calling it censorship isn't quite an accurate evaluation of the situation, because, as mentioned in the other channel where I first responded, you consent to these terms when you launch up the game and agree to the terms of use. As SG stated in the blog post in #among-us-3d-announcements , "Private lobbies are not exampt from the code of conduct," which is the same code of conduct that applies to the regular among us game chat (as the code of conduct was set by Innersloth). Only difference is that 2D uses text chat, while 3D uses voice chat, so the moderation appears to come across differently because you can't moderate voice chat using the same methods as text chat.

From my understanding (note: from observation, I'm not a dev lol) swearing alone will not get you banned, unless it's at someone else. Additionally, the dev team has human moderators who review all reports manually, and can review the situation surrounding the reports to understand the context under which the language was used.

The game does have some sort of AI moderation system in place, but (again, from observation) it seems to only act under extreme scenarios (i.e. slurs, harassment). And again, all bans can be appealed, at which point you will still have the situation reviewed by a human moderator.

Another thing to note, that was mentioned in the blog post, is that the devs acknowledge that the system may not be perfect, and they are open to feedback from players! You can give feedback directly to the devs using #contact-3d-support

While I completely understand that people want to be able to swear at their friends and use reclaimed slurs in conversation, this video game's VC is not the place for that. The code of conduct/terms of service are clearly written out, and if you disagree with them, then don't consent, and don't use the game's VC function to play.

The developers are working hard to make sure this game stays a safe place, and again, they do have human moderators that are happy to help review false ban cases/appeals.

Not every game is for every person, and there are workarounds (i.e. using discord voice chat while muted in game) or you could just play regular among us with bettercrewlink like you mentioned before.

And I'll point out #contact-3d-support again, because the devs are open to hearing all this feedback from users, so please don't hesitate to share your opinions on the current state of the game through that form.

I will say, it will definitively take me some time to get every achievement.
I also noticed how English speaking players are somewhat more open-minded (if we leave aside the kids, obviously), somewhat willing to try either the new mode, or some settings in classic that are usually never used.

As for Spanish speaking players, they really, really don't like when it comes to trying out new things, almost instantly yelling (not even asking) "change it back" "lobby is terrible", stuff like that. It happened before in the demo, it happened now.

And literally no one was playing Tag mode on that language sadly.

What if....

Among Us 3D had small kill animations that other players can see. They would be for less than a second when an imposter kills someone. Lets say, a crewmate dies, in the death screen for the crewmate, the crewmate is stabbed. In the actual game, other players would see a small animation of a stab towards a crewmate. I mean, I can go further in depth but that's the very very basics of it. Idk it would give a bit more sense of immersion! (and panik)

I'd say they were either exagerating, or undermining (or whatever the name is) what they really said.
I have to admit I did swore by accident a few times, but I'm still allowed to play, obviously I am NOT encouraging swearing.
That people complaining probably in reality said some actually severe stuff and don't want to admit it.

As for the matchmaking thing... I don't think they've done anything yet aside from what there is currently.

Seems there's a few collapsed tunnels. Quarry and Specimen lab are both inaccessible.

From reading the blog post, it looks like the ability to have a Dum Justice lobby (like you select a preset lobby type) is limited-time, but you can turn on a vigilante role in a lobby you're hosting at any time you want? That's the only explanation I can think of.

I think I've been somewhat consistent with my settings.
Every now and then I like to experiment with 3 meetings, and no report bodies.

You have to manually walk all the way to the button and hope for the best.
